If I could leave more stars I would. I injured my lower back in the beginning of October. PT, and pain management didn’t work. The pain ended up going down my right leg into my foot. I couldn’t drive or sleep without terrible pain. surgery was the last thing I wanted to do but, Dr Nachwalter and his staff was so helpful, understanding, and thorough. I had surgery at the end of November and I couldn’t be happier. The pain was instantly gone, after 2 months of taking it easy, in back to my old self again

If you have spine or back pain I recommend to see Dr. Nachwalter. I have been to Doctors in NJ and NYC about my pain and only Dr. Nachwalter fixed it. He is the best in my mind. If you do not want to suffer anymore give him a call and pay him a visit. He will get you back on track and you will not be disappointed.

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Nachwalter and his staff. I was very nervous to have neck surgery but the second I met Dr. Nachwalter I felt at ease. Dr. Nachwalter and his staff were fantastic! I had been in pain on and off for 25 years and my pain got much worse in the last 3 years. Dr. Nachwalter listened to me as I told him my symptoms and he gave me my options. We decided to go ahead with the laminectomy surgery and fix the L5 S1 disc problem. When I woke up from the surgery all my pain is gone!! My healing process was quick and simple. Dr. Nachwalter did a phenomenal job on me and gave me my life back! I feel like I am 25 again! After unsuccessful treatment from Concentra I was referred to Dr Nachwalter as a workman’s comp case. During my first visit with the doctor he examined me and ordered an MRI of my back. He reviewed the results and explained all my options to correct the issue I was having with my back. He was very thorough and informative and assured me that I’d be fine. Dr Nachwalter has excellent bedside manner, very understanding and caring. Not only did he keep my family informed after my surgery but, he personally called me to check on me after my surgery. That meant a lot to me and only showed me the true professional he is. I have no more back issues and I highly recommend Dr Nachwalter for all your spine or back issues. I was in terrible pain for 4 months with no relief from pain management, medication, or epidural injections. After consulting Dr Nachwalter we decided on a C6-C7 cervical disk removal/replacement. I am a patient who has been severely compromised with low back pain for several years due to a degenerative condition (arthritis). I have already had two full hip replacements less than 10 years ago and back surgery many years prior. I have not slept for more than 4 hours straight in over 2 years. I am almost 3 months post op with Dr. Nachwalter. I was in so much pain with a cyst crushing the nerves in my lower spine. He explained the surgery in detail, as well as the recovery process. I had a 2 level cervical disk replacement, Dr. Nachwalter did an absolutely amazing job. Bedside manner was great. follow-up appointments we easy to schedule. My recovery was as close to pain free as you can get. I'm 6 weeks post-op with great motion and feeling great. I am a Clinical Quality Nurse and was already familiar with Dr Nachwalter when I needed an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon. I live very close to the city and although my family encouraged me to go to HSS, I was very comfortable with Dr Nachwalter as I have reviewed his outcomes as part of my job for the last several years. Dr Nachwalter reviewed my medical history, symptoms and diagnostics and explained my options. Due to Covid restrictions my husband needed to wait in the car but Dr Nachwalter spoke to him over the phone and made sure his questions were also answered. My procedure (lumbar fusion) was performed at Morristown Memorial Hospital (MMH). MMH was super-efficient with both the pre-admission testing (including Covid) and the admission process. My surgery went very well and I woke from anesthesia feeling much better than when I went in. I saw Dr Nachwalter each day that I remained in the hospital. I began Physical Therapy my first post op day and was able to be discharged home

I visited Dr Nachwalter 3 days after rupturing my L3 disc. He gave me a professional review and his opinion, I already had two other opinions. A few days later I returned to his office where his staff was able to set up mu surgery in 3 days. My surgery gave me 80% instant relief. Dr Nachwalter called me on ,y cell the afternoon of my operation. He was very positive in my follow up appointments. I was very satisfied with the care I got from him and his staff. That being said, I hope I never have to see him again (professionally, that is.)

I recently had spinal surgery with Dr. Nachwalter, he was very patient with explaining to me what the procedure would be like and what to expect post operative. While in the hospital he stopped in each morning and took the time to speak with me and didn't leave until my questions where answered. I would highly recommend him to family and friends.

I have had two separate surgeries with Dr. Nachwalter and my experience on both occasions was the same, he listens to understand your issues and goals and then he explains your options and the ramifications of each of those options. Prior to my first visit to Dr. Nachwalter I had gone to another doctor when I was in considerable pain, and he just wanted to give me pain medication and told me all the things I wouldn't be able to do. Having the surgery has improved my quality of life (I'm still recovering from the second but I already see improvement). After both procedures I have needed no more than over the counter pain medication ( your mileage may vary). The office staff is efficient and friendly and the surgical staff is terrific, even while currently working under difficult conditions. I highly recommend Dr. Nachwalter.

I was not able to walk due to leg pain. Dr. Nachwalter was not in my network. Had to chose another doctor. Had surgery in 2017 which failed. Went to several other drs. and they were of no help either. Epidurals, PT. No relief. Dr. N. was finally in my network. Got an appt. quickly and he is the only one who said I had nerve damage and that a spinal cord stimulator would help. He was right. I have so much relief. I basically was just barely getting to work and home. Suffered for 4 years with this pain. I can't thank him enough. I recommend him highly.

I would highly recommend Dr. Nachwalter, his knowledge, skill, and expertise as a orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Nachwalter took the time to fully explain the two different options for treating my neck (disc replacement vs. fusion) and provided his recommendation. I am thankful for Dr. Nachwalter as he replaced the C4-C5 which relieved the terrible 24/7 pain and is helping gain back the strength I lost. I went to doctor Nachwalter in mid February 2020. At this time i was Diagnosed with L4 L5 Severe herniaation of the disk with extrusion. After Conservative treatment options, including epidural and physical therapy, surgery was the only option left to relieve the sciatic nerve pain in my foot ,leg and thigh. Dr Nachwalter performed a Micro dicsectomy on march 2 2020... When i woke from Anastasia, all Sciatic nerve pain was gone in foot, leg back and thigh... the surgical pain was nothing compared to the pain in my leg, and all sciatic pain was gone and never returned... I was home the same day, and walked 3 miles, in 1 mile Increments , the same day....Dr nachwalter did an amazing job on me, i couldnt have asked for more.... thanks, steve

I sustained a work injury in December 2019 to my lower back. I went to the workman's comp doctors several times in sever pain in my lower back, leg and foot. I wasn't able to stand for more than a couple minutes or walk a couple feet before i had to find a place to sit down, do to the extreme pain. The workman's comp doctors where no help but to prescribe meds. After almost a month in extreme pain i finally made an appointment at Atlantic Spine Specialist with Dr Richard Nachwalter. Meeting Dr Nachwalter was the best thing i did. He exam ed me and looked at my MRI and explained everything to me to resolve my pain . We set up a date to have surgery on my lower back a week later. The best thing I did after suffering for almost a month. Dr Nachwalter was very professonal and made me feel completely comfortable with the procedure. Great doctor, great staff I'm very happy that i found Atlantis Spine Specialist and had the pleasure of meeting Dr Nachwalter. I'm working on recovery.

Dr. Richard Nachwalter evaluated my lower back condition and recommended surgery. He was very confident that the surgery would be successful. In July 2019, surgery was conducted as I was able to walk only short distances before having to sit down due to severe discomfort. I no longer have any lower back pain. Dr Nachwalter and his staff have my unqualified recommendation. I also commend him for the excellent follow-up care.

I reached the age of 57 without any surgical procedures in my life. Unfortunately I needed spinal surgery due to severe nerve damage in my neck. Most surgeons have a superiority complex that drives everyone nuts. Dr. Nachwalter has completely earned any and all rights to it. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my spine, except him.

It has been 1 year since my back surgery (Laminectomy L4-5). Immediate improvement after surgery, post 6 months was great and post 12 months even better! Dr. Nachwalter first performed surgery for me in 2014 (Cervical Fusion). Extremely successful procedure. Recently required a spinal fusion. Throughout both of these events Dr. Nachwalter provided the highest quality of care/attention. He answered all questions, was always responsive and patient. Not to mention confident and supportive to me and my family. If I need future spinal care, I would 100% engage Dr. Nachwalter. I highly recommend being in his care!!!!!

I had back surgery with Dr. Nachwalter in February. It's now 5 months later and I am pain free. He was very attentive to my concerns, answered all of my many questions and offered me options for treatment. After trying physical therapy and back injections, I opted for the surgery. I met with Dr. Nachwalter after having issues with back and leg pain. I had a previous surgery five years earlier done by another surgeon. Dr. Nachwalter listened to my concerns, anticipated and answered all the questions I had. I had a super experience with Dr. Nachwalter. He explained the reason for the extreme pain my leg/knee/calf pain and patiently answered all my questions. He tried non-surgical remedies first... but when I had no relief, he was sympathetic to my pain and did not delay moving to disc surgery. Post surgery, I still had pain but the doctor urged me to be patient as the nerve repaired itself. He was absolutely correct... and now I am pain free! I loved his style... and his work!

I am very fortunate and relieved that I decided to see Dr. Nachwalter for a third opinion after seeing two neurosurgeons who insisted I needed surgery. A serious car accident in September of 2018 left me with a fracture of the C2 vertebra and other cervical vertebrae issues. Dr. Nachwalter spared me unnecessary surgery as he explained my situation thoroughly and did not see the need for surgical repair to my neck. Worst experience I ever had. I Went to Dr. Nachwalter through workman’s comp. I had a disc that was sitting on top of my nerve so he removed a part of my disc to release the nerve. After surgery the pain was very bad I was told it was surgery pain that it’s going to take some time to heal so I waited and waited for my pain to go away and I’m still waiting every time I would go see him and till him that I still had pain He dismissed me and told me it’s all in my head. I know what pain feels like.
