Bad Almost impossible to schedule for an appointment. Unorganized and a lot of rescheduling

My wife's coworker highly recommended Dr. Friedman, so I called on her behalf to set an appointment. Little did I know it would take a grueling work of several voicemails and emails with a front desk lady Roxanne. I was able to finally get an appointment after 2 months of hassle, because my wife's health is more important. Appointment was set TWO MONTH out. During this interaction, the front desk started screening me, asking me for medical records of my wife, and to call my insurance to make sure I am covered. That's all fine, but this was all prior to setting an appointment. The doctor had to say okay before we can set the appointment... Folks, this is a prime example of one of thousand reasons wrong with the American health system. Since when did EPO/PPO network need to be screened to see a doctor? The front desk lady was very nice, and always followed up no matter the time lapse. But nice doesn't save lives. I am sure they are all very qualified and kind people. However, they really need to revamp their processes. I was able to get an appointment with Cedar Sinai (my provider), in a few minutes. I went out of my way because I wanted to get the best care for my wife, and you know what? I think I did in the end. Trying to make an appointment and reach a real person is impossible. I'm a new patient with an urgent issue and can't get a call back. Maybe they need more people to make appointments? Could barely get a word in with the desk when I was trying to talk to a real person. Just sent me right back to voicemail. If I hear back and can get an appointment I'll update this review. For now I would say pass on these guys though.... **Updated 2 weeks later. The office got back to me and was very nice. Still can't see the doc for a month or two. They are very overwhelmed. I found another amazing gynecology specialist Dr. Steven Rabin in Burbank who saw me right away and I have a surgery scheduled for next week. I'm sure Dr. Friedman is a great doctor. Just can't get in to see him at this point. If you need someone right away check out Dr. Rabin. Trying to make an appointment and reach a real person is impossible. Best doctor!!!! He is incredible, if you have any problem, he is the person to see.

I had a rare pelvic disease, actinomycosis, resulting in emergency surgery, which Dr Friedman consulted and operated on. During both hospital admissions, Dr Friedman visited me and gave me updates with a very caring bedside manner and taking time to talk through my complicated situation. The condition I had was very rare and diagnosis and treatment was successful due to his unprecedented experience and knowledge. I felt like I was in the best hands and completely at ease that he was dealing with a complex and quite unknown issue. During the post surgery visits, his appointments were easy to make and he was available for thorough explanations and to answer any questions, which I appreciated. His office staff were very friendly and professional. He was also easy to contact through the mobile app. Dr Friedman helped diagnose and treat a life threatening health problem, which saved my life! I had pelvic pain for almost 6 months . I went to Dr Friedman, he told me I have endometriosis . He gave me all the options & he let me think about it. I chose to do laparoscopy . I am so glad I did it. Dr Friedman is the best Dr who could do my surgery. He is amazing . Now , I am 8 months after surgery and I am pain free . I will recommend him to everyone !

Dr. Friedman is an excellent doctor and surgeon. The staff is very good, however, they do over-book and have long waits. This last visit took 3 hours. This is not very considerate when a person has scheduled months in advance. Medically, I'm very happy with the care I've received.

Best doctor, Dr. Friedman is very thorough with excellent chair side manners. He has a wealth of knowledge and I feel very lucky to have him as my doctor.

Dr Friedman is an excellent Doctor! He is detailed oriented and searches out all possibilities before moving forward with treatment! Initially he comes across ‘matter of fact’, data-driven, bottom line, “this is what it is, this is how we are going to approach it, and now let’s move forward!” But after surgery and as the treatment progresses, he softens up and has a relaxing sense of humor. His staff is top notch! Wouldn’t go to anyone else! Only down side, as with exceptional doctors/surgeons, is you may have to wait an hour or two for your appointment - definitely worth having him as your doctor!! Dr Friedman is an excellent Doctor! Dr. Friedman is extremely knowledgeable and cares about his patients. He diagnosed me with Ovarian Remnant Syndrome when no one else could figure out what was wrong. His non-invasive treatment plan has meant five years and counting without pain or complications/recurrences. I will always recommend him.

I love all the staff and Dr. Friedman himself, Ms Helen (loved her so much), staffs and also her assistant they are so caring and compassionate. From the receptionist, to the nurses, to the NP's, all of them really put me at ease.

Dr. Friedman was so kind and took the time to discuss and answer all of our questions! Not once did we feel as though he needed to rush off to see his next patient. His Office Manager, Roxanne, was wonderful as well!!!

Doctor Friedman saved my life, and to me he is THE BEST of the best! Very knowledgeable, compassionate, and caring. I love this doctor, and I always will be thankful for what he has done (and still does) for me. I would recommend him to anyone who need professional help. Pure genius!!!

I would not be alive today if God had not sent Dr. Friedman in my life. I had many, many, many doctors ignore my pleas and perform dangerous and unnecessary tests and surgeries. He is a genius and a superb surgeon!

I have never met a doctor, or staff, that are SO caring and compassionate. From the receptionist, to the nurses, to the NP's, all of them really put me at ease. All procedures were explained and all questions were answered. Even being rolled into the OR, they calmed my fears and let me know everything was going to be okay. The surgery was successful and the recovery time was short and pretty uneventful. Follow-up appointments were a breeze and they really make sure to go over every detail.

Office staff did not get back to me despite stating they will. They don't review records as they say they will. I waited 3 weeks for them to review records and they only did it after I called them 3 weeks later, while having me wait on the phone . The records were looked at it flippantly because they missed the whole point why we were referred to them and only saw one aspect of medical history which was cancer history and refused care, missing her entire current needs. It was a waste of time.

Five doctors later he was the only one who actually heard what I said. I was 27 at the time with a new born who I couldn't carry because of the pain. He told me he won't be able to take the away the pain 100% but he"ll do his best. I truly appreciated his honesty!

I needed a partial hysterectomy due to uterine fibroids. He did a wonderful job of removing the uterus laparoscopically. I didn't worry before the surgery because I knew I was in the hands of a very skilled surgeon. I think he knows he's great and has a bit of a doctor's ego; but that's okay, I would recommend him to anyone needing surgery.

Dr. Friedman saw me last year for a Uterine cancer Problem. He was fast and efficient in getting me ready for Surgery for a needed complete Hysterectomy . He was totally professional and encouraging. He has a wonderful sense of humor and bedside manner. The procedure was a sucess, and After the procedure He went far and above, to catch a misdiagnoised slide which could have been disasterous for me , but he caught it had an expert opinion done. I highly recommend Him and his wonderful Staff.

I would recommend this doctor because he is great in everything , I was afraid from this visit because it was my first one but he made it very successful visit for me, he is an easy ,calm and wonderful person plus he has good and precise decisions which make the situation more easier on the patient. thank you so much for your time and your knowledge .

Dr. Richard Friedman is amazing

I wish I had the words to express my appreciation for Dr Friedman's care and kindness. The level of his knowledge, intelligence and skills is enormous - simply genius. Kind, compassionate, positive, extraordinary doctor and human being. I have never met a doctor who cares about his patients as much as doctor Friedman. He made me believe that God sends people in our life for a purpose. He sent Dr Friedman in my life to heal my body and soul. Doctor Friedman saved my life, and I will be forever grateful. Don't want to go on and on with my experience @ E.R but we all have choices please make a good choice when u are in need of an E.R trip and find a diffrent Hospital for your needs! Dr. Tina C. Wang is the worst Dr. I've ever been seen by. She wont care how much pain you are in and just leave you in the room for HRS. Saint Joe's has always been my 1st. Choice for the last 25 years but if my issue isn't addressed in a timely manner it will be time to reconsider who I use for any hospital needs. Don't want to go on and on with my experience @ E.R but we all have choices please make a good choice when u are in need of an E.R trip and find a diffrent Hospital for your needs! Dr. Tina C.
