About Dr. Richard Thomas Chopp
Reviews for Dr. Richard Thomas Chopp
Dr Chop was GREAT he treated my problem professionally and compassionately and his diagnosis of Chronic kidney stone formation was exact and on point and that helped me to know what was happening to me and properly deal with the kidney stones my body was creating. Great Urologist!
Im glad dr chopp is retiring. His bedside manner is terrible. Even one human to another, I have had better service at a fast food restaurant than I ever got from him.
The Staff was amazing, as awkward as a situation can be, the male and female nurses made me feel very comfortable. Dr. Chopp is a compassionate, knowledgeable and talented man. Thank you again. ✂️✂️????????
I've been treated by Dr. Chopp for many years for kidney stones. He's been very professional and has helped me thru this journey as I've passed as many stones as a rock quarry. I appreciate his sense of humor and the fact that he helped champion CT scans for prostrate cancer diagnosis. I've also used his "chopped" services, and been there, done that, got the T Shirt. He's always ready to listen and his staff has always been helpful as well. I've been treated by Dr. Chopp for many years for kidney stones. Absolutely the worst, don’t walk away from this Dr. RUN!
I am so confused! How could somebody NAMED Richard Chopp, not only decide with that name to be a urologist, who "SPECIALIZES IN VASECTOMIES" have such poor reviews?! Poor bedside manner?! No sense of humor?! Not the greatest the profession has ever seen?! How?! HOW?! Dick Chopp was born for this, I think it is you people who have the problem. I am so confused! Evertime I see Dr. Chop he takes good care of me. I realized on my second visit that he has a dry sense of humor however he is very directional and to the point about my care. He is subtlety kind and cares. After my proceedure he made sure I stayed until he knew there was no bleeding. He has nothing to "sell" so he focuses on getting you proper care and getting you on your way. I'm glad I found him Evertime I see Dr. Chop he takes good care of me. I've never encountered a less professional individual in any industry. Period. Dr. Chopp's poor bedside manner transcends bad manners into flat out negligence. I saw Dr. Chopp 3 times before I realized I was being swindled. A summary of my experience was: 30 second interactions where he asked absolutely no questions, provided no insight, and the answers given to any of my questions were apathetic, taciturn, and condescending. Without any basis of information, I was given various steroids for my condition. When reported as ineffective, I was simply prescribed MORE steroids, without even pausing to hear about changes or symptoms. If I didn't volunteer anything (by interjecting during his quick process of in-and-out) I was asked nothing and simply given more drugs. Drugs like prednisone, which can cause severe side effects with prolonged use. Dr. Chopp is rude, irresponsible, and his method of apathy is flat out dangerous. Do not seek care from this individual. Go literally ANYWHERE else. I've never encountered a less professional individual in any industry. Period. Dr. Chopp's poor bedside manner transcends bad manners into flat out negligence. … More
This is the best name for a urologist I've ever seen.

Dr Chopp is a phenomenal doctor... I’ve been a patient of his for more than 20 years...I give him the highest rating possible.
Dr. Chopp shows a genuine interest in my overall health and not just my prostate health. I leave his office knowing that I have received the best care possible. He is very professional and sincere! I drive 4 hours round trip to keep him as my Urologist!
As a kidney 'stoner' Dr. Chopp has been wonderful thru the experience and the surgeries. He also championed a prostrate exam that does not need a bunch of needles jabbed into your prostrate... my kinda Dr.
Saw him with my first kidney stone, since he was the first doc available at the Urology Team recommended by the ER doc. On first visit, he asked me a few questions, gave me a prostate exam, and told me to get an x-ray at a lab the next morning and bring the x-ray results to him for a second appointment. For the second visit, I waited 40-minutes (perhaps not his fault), and he spent 5 or 10 minutes with me. I told him that the pain had been waxing and waning since the initial intense pain 3-1/2 days earlier, and that I was feeling okay at that moment. I also informed him that I had used the pee strainer for every urination except for one, and I had definitely had no evidence that the stone had passed. He said that although it was a poor quality x-ray, it didn't show any obvious stone. Based upon that, he assumed that I had passed the stone and requested that I get a blood analysis and 24-hour urine catch done, and see him in three weeks to determine contributing factors and preventative measures for future stones. The pain returned intensely that evening, so I obviously had not passed the stone. I called the on-call doc (Dr. Mobely) for the Urology Team, and she was very helpful with explaining that: kidney stone pain does come and go; that it can sometimes go on for weeks or even months unless more aggressive options are taken; that even though I wasn't in pain and the bad x-ray didn't show evidence of it, the fact that I hadn't caught the stone in a strainer would have indicated at least the consideration of getting a C.T. for a better view. None of that information was provided by Dr. Chopp, even something as simple as some handout information or a recommended website. Isn't it obvious that a person experiencing a kidney stone for the first time would want info on typical symptoms, how long they might last, what's physically happening to cause the pain, how to deal with the side effects of constipation from the hydrocodone, concerns about taking the 800mg ibuprofen and hydrocodone for weeks, etc."? I called him back to explain that I still had the pain and that I was disappointed with his service, in a calm voice. He became very defensive and said "I don't have a crystal ball". My response was (and is), I don't expect a crystal ball, but I do expect:(a) a thorough diagnosis not based solely on a bad x-ray that he ordered and my report of feeling good at that moment--despite knowing I hadn't caught the stone and that kidney stone pain comes and goes, (b) adequate information to address the obvious questions and concerns, and (c) a more caring and professional attitude. Would highly recommend Dr Chopp. He performed my prostate biopsy and it went flawlessly - none of the horror stories you read online. Very thankful for that.
Great experience. On time, didn't keep me waiting. Dr. Chopp is great. Thorough but didn't waste time.
Dr. Chopp and the staff of Urology Team are caring and professional.
I've been a patient of Dr. Richard Chopp for years. He is an excellent Urologist and a very kind Gentleman. I highly recommend him and Urology Team. Great profesional and excellent service.
Great Team especially Dr Richard Chopp, the best. I have been seeing him for the past several years and really appreciate his demeanor and expertise.
Always very courteous and professional. Dr. Chopp is always very professional and reassuring.
Both the professionalism and the caring at Urology Team have been outstanding. My doctor Richard Chopp is terrific. I highly recommend this urology practice.
The services provided by Dr. Chopp and the support staff has been excellent except that twice, the appointed time they gave me on the card at checkout and given on the reminder call have been different than the time on the computer when I arrived at the time given earlier. Also, once I arrived at the given time but the computer had me scheduled at that time but on a different day. That's the only reason for 4 stars rather than 5 stars.
I have been seeing Dr. Chopp since 2013 when he removed my bladder tumor. I find him to be very professional and easy to understand. I highly recommend him and the folks at The Urology Team. Always have had a good experience.
As usual, the front desk and check out desk were excellent. Everyone was on time. I discussed my issue with Dr. Chopp and he came up with a product recommendation that I had never heard of before, even though I had done a great deal of research on the subject. I'll be trying it and will check back in the future.
First experience, second visit for me. This was better as I didn't have to wait for twenty minutes while the doctor completed his prior appointments. Dr. Chopp is pretty cut and dried as presentation goes. I have a couple of questions which I plan to ask through the patient portal and see how that works. I'm still working on the issues which were presented in my appointments, but I'm happy with the direction we are headed.
I know Dr. Richard Chopp for a long time and he is an exceptional doctor. Very dedicated.
Dr. Chopp showed genuine concern over my health condition and is working hard to formulate a plan for my care.
Dr. Chopp was especially reassuring to me.
the Bee Cave location is really nice with easy parking. the best of the 3 locations I have visited. Dr. Chopp is an exceptional doctor that I really trust in his opinions. the assistant (Rudy) was thorough and painless in the required prep. Well Done!
Dr Chopp is always concerned and helpful.
I have been going to Dr Chopp for years, he is the best. I continue to send my friends and associates to the Urology team

I had a good experience with Dr. Elizabeth Mobley. She was quick, concerned, and got me exactly what I needed. She said if any problems dont go away to come back and see her. The staff was great as well. The wait time would have been my only complaint at 30 + minutes in the afternoon.

By their nature, urological exams are unpleasant and involve sensitive areas/issues. Dr. Chopp's bedside manner is definitely direct and no-nonsense, but still friendly. I appreciated this fact and the speed and thoroughness of the exam. He identified my issue quickly and decisively, which is exactly want I want from a urologist. He's an incredible doctor who knows exactly what he's doing.
Dr. Chopp performed a radical perineal prostatectomy on me in the fall of 1995. Twenty-one years later and I'm still alive. The usual benchmark to tell if one has beaten cancer is five years (although some doctors say seven just to be on the safe side). In any case, taking the more conservative figure of seven years, I've got that plus 14 years "change" left over. Charles W.

Worsthe urology experience ever. Stay away from this Dr unless you want a painful exam without any remorse or explanation of any kind.

He took my medical history in less than 2 minutes after I've spent months trying to figure out what's going on. Told me he needed blood work and to come back in 10 days and we can discuss it. That's it - no bedside manner, no sense of caring at all the amount of time and research my other doctors have put into trying to figure out what is going on. A frustrating experience.
Prostate cancer runs in my family. Dad in his 60's, a brother, in his 40's. Now, possibly me, at age 63. I've googled BHP, prostate cancer and more, wanting to be familiar with all possible outcomes and scarying myself in the process. 1st visit (DRE) was the most discomfort I've felt (2 minutes). 2nd visit (prostate biopsies) the most discomfort - 3 shots lasting only 0.5 seconds each. 15 minutes later 14 samples collected. Discomfort was minimal, procedure was fascinating. Use Dr Chopp!!!
Everyone else on the team is very nice and helpful but Dr. Chopp is a disaster. Short on information and preparation and the worst bedside manner ever. Completely wasted my time with no remorse. Avoid at all costs.
If you DO NOT value your health and enjoy being treated like the red headed step child, then this place is for you. Dr. Chopp and his office is the absolute worst place I've ever been to. I wouldn't go back there if my life literally depended on it. They would only shorten the amount of time I had left to live rather than help. Avoid at all costs! You've been warned. I had a 3 1/2 year period of medical work in re prostate cancer. My personal opinion is very low. To sum it up in my case. I think of him more as a profiteer than a doctor. Enough said !

I wen to Dr. Chopp for a vasectomy. In my opinion, that's one of those procedures where no surprises is a five-star review. Procedure went off fine, I was told what to monitor and how to handle the discomfort and there were no surprises.
Terrible bedside manners. Doesn't explain anything. If you're male; his DRE for your prostate is BRUTAL! I called in and spoke with his nurse for a recurrent issue; it's been 2 days and I still haven't heard from his staff or him.

Not only was the entire Jollyville team arrogant, they lost my appointment 4 times. Honestly, if I was so OCD, it would have been months before I could get my second appointment. Then when I finally went into see Dr. Chopp for test results, he was incredibly arrogant, impatient, and unwilling to take the time to answer any questions I had. I was visibly shaken by not knowing what was wrong with me, and he couldn't have been less compassionate. Awful way to treat someone! He was rude, and completely unhelpful. I asked him a question and literally his was response was ...mmm uhhh idunno...
