Dr. Richard Lee Catterlin

I want to up date. 5 yrs ago was my first rating. Now in 2023 I am still seeing Dr Catterlin. I have been seeing him and Gloria since I was 13 yrs old. He has been in the practice 40+ yrs. And to this day he still has compassion and listens to what I have to say. He has helped diagnose many of my ailments. He responds extremely fast through my chart and will get you in fairly quickly to see him or do a virtual visit.

Dr. Catterlin is a very good and thoughtful dr. His team of doctors are very thorough & attentive to my needs as a patient under their care. I have No worries knowing dr. Richard is my doctor, I can talk to him about any medical situation I have.

I had my first visit with Dr Catterlin and I thought that he was very kind and thorough. He took the time to discuss things with me and was even considerate about my long drive from where I reside with bloodwork and X-rays. Instead of having to make an extra trip he made sure I had my blood work done that day. I have to say I don’t know too many doctors that would have even cared to consider how far one might have to go. My wait time was not long and the staff were all very nice. So as far as the negative reviews go my first experience was that of a good experience. I don’t write reviews too often but thought that Dr Catterlin and his staff deserved a positive review.

I wish I could give zero stars. I do NOT recommend Dr. Richard and Dr. Gloria Catterlin in Mineral Ridge. Terrible doctors. Not only do they never answer their phones, they do not care about their patients. Dr. Richard is the most arrogant and rude person I've ever met. They prescribed me an antibiotic for a simple sinus infection, after taking the first day's dose, I noticed the warning label says not to take it if you have liver disease. So I look online plus call the pharmacy. Pharmacist tells me to stop taking immediately and watch for side effects within the next week. Dr. Richard says he knows more than the drug manufacturer, Google and the pharmacist. He said "I've been doing this for over 40 years, I'm confident you can continue to take this with no problems. Don't believe what you read on the internet and the pharmacist is just googling it too." I spent half the day in the hospital today! Hives head to toe! Eyes and throat closing up. And that's only from taking one days dose. I'm lucky I trusted my gut. Who knows what could have happened if I took the whole pack. Terrible doctors. This has costed me so much, a total of 5 days off work too. Please, spread the word. It's not the first time I've heard of things like this happening with them. I was never told this isn't ok to take with liver disease because they forgot to put it on my chart. Instead of apologizing, Dr Richard actually tried to convince me my diagnosis was wrong because another doctor diagnosed me. I wish I could give zero stars. Great experience....listened to me, getting me setup with specialist that I need and noticed a prescription problem, I couldn't be happier, I look forward to having him as my new primary doctor.

Waste of money!! Will not be back

If I could give this Dr zero stars I would. I had Richard catterlin and he discriminated against me in very personal and rude ways. He also had an outside company come into his office, to do a sonogram on my thyroid and He diagnosed me with hypothyroidism. He started me on thyroid medicine. I took it for a while and when I needed a refill they said I had to come into the office for a visit. Dr catterlin then told me "I'm not gonna put you on thyroid medicine just so you can lose weight", ( I was already on the medicine for months I just needed a refill) he told me I was making up this diagnoses and that he never diagnosed me with an underactive thyroid. Completely dilusional, rude and unprofessional. I wouldn't trust to take my dog there. If I could give this Dr zero stars I would. Very Good Doctor, seems caring and takes his time with his patients, HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE!!!!

At first he seemed like a good fit. I told him my meds weren't working and he told me to double them. I did as requested and they still weren't working. He told me to double them again. It seems like a money grab at this point and I have since found a new doctor.

I've been a long-time patient of both Gloria and Richard Catterlin but today is the day I say: Enough. Enough of the 30+ minutes of waiting in the waiting room followed by 30+ minutes of waiting in the exam room. Enough of the doctors blowing into the room, asking the exact same questions their staff just asked me 30 minutes ago when they first brought me back, then shrugging off any complaints I may have with a "Hm, that's odd, we should get that taken care of." Enough of the dismissal every time I have a genuine concern or question. Enough of the runaround for referrals and having to wait weeks to months to schedule an appointment. Enough of having to get surprise phone calls from hospitals to discuss getting thyroid cysts biopsied that I didn't even know I had because my doctor didn't think to tell me. Enough. Is. Enough. My first 2020 New Year's resolution is to drop this office like a hot potato in exchange for a doctor that sees me as a person and not just a name on a clipboard. I am completely and thoroughly fed up. Apparently not even a decades-long history of rapport with these two was enough to extract a bit of basic respect and human decency from them. What a shame. The staff is nice enough but, unfortunately, they're not worth the rest of the trouble this office has put me through. I hope the Catterlins treat their employees better than they've treated me. Took his time with me and listened attentively to my complaint. Method of treatment worked well and I was given a detailed overview of both my condition and treatment options. Friendly and competent manner. Very professional!

My PCP left the practice, so I had to look for a new doctor. Dr. Catterlin was a referral from another doctor, who is no longer accepting patients. My bias is holistic-- fewer tests, better histories, healthy lifestyle, fewer meds. I was very happy that Dr. Catterlin actually spent time listening to my heart, lungs and carotids, rather than hooking me up to a an office EKG machine. The office also gave me Rxs for my mammogram and blood work. No attempt to upsell any tests or treatments.
