Great Doctor, no nonsense professional.

Dr Black always listens carefully to what is said by the patient. He is thorough in checking what the patient needs. He is a doctor who can be trusted for solid advice (and that is not something I say about many doctors).

Never met a more experienced, thorough, intelligent and kind doctor in my life.

Dr Richard Black..the most wonderful caring physician I have been fortunate enough to meet. Very grateful to have him in my life.

My father has been seeing Dr Richard Black for decades. He is great, answers questions, forwards us to specialists and one specialist we didn't like for part of the care and Dr Black gave us a recommendation of another specialist for a second opinion which worked out much much better. I don't know what happened with the one star reviewer headed to Chappaquiddick but that's not something we have ever experienced - again over decades. Just fantastic service from Dr Black who by the way has a near 5 Star rating on Healthgrades website with 15 reviewers.. Dr. Black has been my primary physician for over 20 yrs., and am following him from his previous location, because I trust in his decisions on making my life healthier. Conversation with him is easy and relaxed, and explanations of any symptoms , concerns, and/or providing the able specialists to see, is done on a very professional level. A more courteous and honest doctor, would be hard to find. And I thank you. D.J. Dr. Black is a thorough clinician who takes time to engage with his patients, provides comprehensive, understandable explanations, is cautious in his recommendations and has an excellent "bedside" manner. He values the patient's time and provides excellent medical treatment and advice. I am almost 71 and he is the best internists that I have ever had.

I always assumed that a licensed medical professional would exhibit reason, pragmatism and above all, professionalism. After recently dealing with Dr. Black who was filling in during the absence of my primary care doctor, I've learned that is not always the case. While trying to resolve my third bout of strep throat in three months, Dr. Black displayed arrogance and attitude that I would never expect from someone in his position. In the midst of my asking very reasonable questions about the treatment plan for my strep, Dr. Black proclaimed "We're done!" and refused to clarify why I was getting severely contrasting opinions from two doctors at Granite Medical. Moreover, he refused to call in my refill of Amoxicillin until I visited his office, when he knew I was vacationing on Chappaquiddick and would not be able to get to Braintree for another 4 days. The on-call doctor I had just spoken with the Saturday prior said to call in if I needed the refill, but Dr. Black refused to fulfill the commitment. As such, my dosage was interrupted for several days, which diminishes the effect of the antibiotic. I'm not sure if it was a power trip or just poor doctoring, but it was passive aggressive behavior that no sick patient should be subject to from a doctor. Prior to becoming Dr. Black's patient I had a few different doctors. I never truly felt comfortable with them or had faith in their diagnosis, sometimes it seemed like they were guessing. I have complete confidence in Dr. Black. He is both professional and kind. Even though he is the textbook example of punctual, I never felt rushed through an appointment for him to get to his next patient. He's the cream of the crop.
