Dr. Richard G Areen

After a year could not have chance to be seen by experienced ENT doctor. I have been suffering from too much ear waxing and pressure and pain on my right ear. As I moved down here and had difficulty getting medical care. I was seen by Dr. Richard Gordon Areen due to my severe Ear pain and extreme waxing. He checked my ear while showing me on the screen and removed all waxes inside the canals. He was really professional, expert, knowledgeable, polite with me and seems very careful about ears. The fantastic thing was about how he directed me not to insert even towel or tissues into my ears canals. In Addition, he didn't order any prescription to take the medication. The only thing was about a one page instruction how to use "White Vinegar" to wash inside the canals. I have never seen a specialist like him. Highly recommended.

Dr. Areen has been my doctor for 20+ years. I went from someone with recurring sinus infections who thought life with stuffy head was normal, to a very happy, clear breathing person. He did a wonderful sinus surgery on me and has been always available to follow up with. I have been happy to refer both of my sons to him and anyone else who has sinus issues. Dr. Areen takes time to listen to me and always gives me options for treatments. If you have ENT issues, you cannot do better than Dr. Areen.

Dr Areen is very good.. But there's something about the office and the way they do things I don't like. I have been here about a year for something serious and I still don't feel like I have a relationship with any of the staff, including Areen.. It's almost like a meat market that is very routine and robotic. He has so many patients that sometimes I notice that he doesn't remember who I am or why I'm here. He's a great guy but I think they're to busy. Maybe they need a bigger office and more doctors to lighten the load.

The appointment was for solid matter becoming dislodged from the naso-pharyngeal passage, but Dr. Areen dismissed it and became fixated on my ear drum. I was given two dittos and rushed out of the office. The reception mis-charged me and had Sutter send me an email later asking for more money.

Fast. Straight to the point. In and out. I look forward to seeing him again.

Dr. Areen immediately diagnosed my hearing problem and solved it very promptly. He was polite, courteous and professional. A real asset to your organization.

They were really busy, but when it was my turn he did an unscheduled procedure so I didn’t have to come back.

Dr. Areen was sympathetic about my two problems and provided excellent care including a referral to a specialist to replace my ancient hearing aid. Unfortunately, the cauterization didn't stop the bleeding in my nose and I'll need to wait-and bleed-THREE more weeks to try again. Too long.

Great doctor! Really nice and caring! I’m coming back to him later! Dr.Areen just wanted to say thank you!

Dr. Areen is very personable and warm to meet with; however, he and the Sac ENT organization tend to treat patients like a number. They are a very busy practice and that results in a lack of personal connection. While visiting their office for over a year, I was regularly asked "why are you here today"? Or other such entry questions. This was discomforting when dealing with a serious problem. I have since switched to another provider.
