Dr. Richard E Aguila

Update: 11/10/2021: After agreeing with the office manager, Lydia, to pay a small monthly amount and pay this balance off (even though we should not have been charged the extra amount anyway) she still sent this bill to the collection agency and now it has affected our credit score. When my son called to talk to her about it, she claimed that "your mom did not hold up her end of the deal and pay the monthly amount we agreed on." She was so mean to him and so demeaning, to an 18-year-old kid who is trying to talk about a bill on his parent's behalf. I could not even speak with the collection agency about it because they put the bill in my son's name, who was 15 at the time of the procedure, not exactly paying his own medical bills at that point, or even now at 18 since he is in still in school. He finally convinced them to put the bill back in my name so that I could at least talk to them about it. The office manager Lydia promised to send me a monthly invoice showing the balance due. I never got an invoice, so I did not pay it out of thin air each month. Then when a few months went by and I did not send payment (with no monthly invoice) she send it to collections. We have worked so hard to improve and keep our credit score high and it is so disheartening when a practice has absolutely no care in the world for the people they claim to take care of. It is truly just about money and it is sad. I do not recommend this practice or this doctor. In 2017 Dr. Aguila performed a frenectomy and gingivectomy on my son who was then 15. The procedure went ok, I paid my portion all up front (we have medical and dental insurance so they told me what my amount would be). My son had some persistent bleeding afterward and I called the office a few times but never got a call back. His pediatrician ended up talking to me about it and making sure he was ok. At that point I was disappointed in their post procedure care, especially since he was a child, but just decided I would never return to that office. But, fast forward three years and I get a bill in the mail, yep three years later, for over $300 (I had already paid around $600-700 before the procedure) and they claim the insurance didn’t pay as much as anticipated and now I owed them more money. My kids have had a lot of dental and orthodontics and never have I had a provider charge me three years later for services. Today I had an appointment to see Dr. Aguila and due to an accident on the road, I arrived 11 minutes late. I called and said I couldn't find their office. I received directions and was told that they were running a few minutes behind but to come in. I arrived and was told that they had tried to call me, which was not true. I received paper work to fill out and sat down. The nurse came out and said they could not see me since I was 20 minutes late.I checked my phone and I was not .She was off by 5 . I explained there was bad traffic traveling at 20 miles an hour and I had no control over it. It seems to me that the staff books the appointments to close together. I had driven 35 minutes to get there. If they were running late, so why couldn't they see me? I do not feel that I was treated fairly.Who can control traffic? Extremely disappointed! This was by far one of the best experiences I have ever had in a dental office. I have always had such fear regarding dental work but their entire office staff put me completely at ease from the very first appointment. The professionalism and kindness from each member of the staff has been outstanding. Dr. Aquila listened and made me feel so at ease from the first visit throughout my dental treatment. I was sent to Dr. Aguila by my dentist, Dr. Richard Caven, to have some bone grafting and an implant done. Dr. Aguila and his staff were awesome and I had a wonderful experience!! I am very grateful I was sent to Dr. Agulia! I highly recommend Dr. Aguila and his staff to everyone! N. Hall

Had 4 teeth pulled and 2 implants put in. That went fine, however for the next few months I complained of throbbing, a discharge and a large gum abscess. Dr. Aguila ignored the symptoms of implantitis and was ready to put on the prosthesis. I got a second opinion from Dr. Alan Fetner who diagnosed loss of bone due to an infection in the implants and he did a bone graft. That set me back money and time(another 5 months of waiting until I can get my final prosthesis) Had 4 teeth pulled and 2 implants put in. Everyone from the Doctors to the staff have been outstanding! Not only did they save my life but they forever changed it for the better! Multiple surgeries over 11 months gave me my life back and my smile and confidence. Everything about my experience was not only professional but it was also personal. They set out with a goal for me that was built around me. They always treated me like family and like I was a priority to them. They listened to me, my fears, concerns and always were able to answer our questions in detail. My husband was welcomed in as part of the team during my visits. He was able to be proactive and ask his own questions, express his concerns and help in the decision making. After 25 years of worrying about my dental health, going from one dentist to another, having expensive procedure after another, and experiencing several bad encounters and paying out more money than I can account for, I found these two wonderful doctors who were straight up and honest and were there for me. The ugly cycle I had been living was finally over because of the care, workmanship, experience, knowledge and compassion of these two men. I always felt comfortable in their care and I think they liked the idea of a challenge too. I will be forever thankful for what they have given back to me and my family. I actually look forward to continuing my dental care with them for years to come and I definitely recommend them to everyone. No matter how bad or tough your case is, if you have special needs, if you are terrified of going to the dentist or you just need a good reliable honest, straightforward dentist who will treat you with compassion and who will listen and address all your needs and concerns....These are the guys you want to go see. Three years ago I went to Dr Aguila with a gum pockets problem. He fixed the problem while also being very honest about the procedure and post-op pain, etc. Recently, they (he and his nice staff) said that my pockets problem was back in two (tough) spots and that those two spots required the laser surgery again. Dr Aguila advised that he would not charge me for the "re-do" in the two spots (three years later). I was amazed. I am sure that the patient (me) had something to do with the pockets problem coming back and it was not all on him. I believe Dr Aguila to be a very competent professional. Dr. Aguila is a fair and reputable man! He stands behind his work and is a fine and talented dentist! I would use him again in a heartbeat! His staff are wonderful and never make you feel like a stranger! Shout out to Jen and Lydia!

I was cut by Dr. Richard Aquila during a procedure and have a permanent visible scar in my lip. The plastic surgeon he referred me to Dr James Hardy attempted to repair the scar with no success, Il was a traumatic horrible experience. The damage was extensive. Four years later and the left side of lip is my lip drooping. I need plastic surgery again which I have to pay for. Avoid Dr Aquila at all cost. He’s negligent!!!

I had very poor experience with Dr Richard E. Aguila , he started my Gums treatment 10 months ago, I finished the treatment about 5 months ago ( the Lanap for each side which cost me thousands of Dollars ) expecting at least some improvement of my gums. after I finished the treatment may be for about 2 or 3 months , my gums was the same as before and now it is worse . Everyone in the office has been very kind and professional each time I have gone in. I recently had a wisdom tooth removed and I was given headphones to listen to whatever TV station I wanted during the whole procedure. I'm so glad I was referred here, they have been wonderful! Dr. Richard Aguilar, DDS is an excellent doctor and my husband had a wonderful experience with his office. We could not be more pleased with the results. His assistant's make the experience great no matter what you are having done. You always know that they have you best interest at heart. Kudos to him and his team. CLH
