Dr. Rene Mario Pena JR.

I was referred to Dr. Rene Pena by my PC because of I was having bad sinus. It started when I was pregnant and continued after I gave birth so I decided to get help. I was having difficulty breathing which worsens at night. My nose was running constantly and I can't stop sneezing. My PC prescribed Flonase which help me sleep better at night and make the symptoms manageable during the day. I wanted a permanent fix so I don't have to use the Flonase and that was when I was referred to Dr Pena. The first time I saw him he performed a nasal endoscopy and said that my congestion was strictly due to turbinate hypertrophy and he prescribed some medication which I took and it helped calm things down but once the medication finished all symptoms were back. He then sent me for a CT scan which cost an arm an a leg but the result confirms his findings of turbinate hypertrophy. He recommended an in office procedure called bilateral SMR of turbinates. He said it will help me do better and I won't have to use Flonase but there is a chance that down the road I might face these same issues again. I did the procedure and a little over a month and I am already having trouble breathing, my nose is constantly running and I can't stop sneezing. I am back to where it all started. I spent a lot of money and did everything the specialist Dr. Pena recommended but it did not. He is a nice person I think but that is not what I am looking for. I am looking for an expert who is experienced and knowledgeable and who can solve my problem. He can also improve his communication skills too. EXTREMELY informative and helpful. Glad I was referred to him. Will return next month.

If you have insurance beware of this doctor. Central Park was “in network” but Dr Pena was not so I had a $300 charge instead of $35. Their arrangement with their doctors is quirky so you pay pay a lot more than you think. Not a fan of this practice.

Dr. Rene's office isn't the most professional. The nurses have sub par attitudes and Dr. Pena himself is quite condescending. When I described to him my symptoms, he responded with a nonchalant attitude. He told me my symptoms weren't related to anything of ENT and basically, asked why I was there. Mind you, I was referred to him by my physician. He shot some thing up my nose, offered a nose surgery, and sent me on my way. He also mentioned that African Americans just have bigger glands and features. As true as this may be, I didn't feel like I was being helped AT ALL. What a wast of $90. Not to mention, the MINOR surgery he wanted to do cost $800 AFTER insurance. I will be seeking other remedies and I will not be returning to this clinic. Great beside manner. Very thorough and attentive. Answered all questions and concerns. Not a long wait time.

Everyone is very personable and friendly. They seem like they genuinely care about the well being of the patients.

I have been a patient for several years. Dr. Pena is the best. Staff are great.

Dr. Pena and his staff were wonderful. I loved the ease of the on-line paperwork. My appointment was right on time. And, once I got back into the exam room, Dr. Pena came right in. He was thorough and efficient and very personable. I felt at ease right away and really appreciated his honesty in what I needed and what care he could provide. It was an excellent experience start to finish.

Dr. Pena was very professional but not particularly personable. He did a little procedure on my septum that was painful to endure, despite topical numbing, and no post-pain warning or management. I wasn't prepared for the flood of pain afterwards and OTC Tylenol really didn't cut it. However, I did not call the office and managed it for a day or so and now only sensitivity remains. Everyone was nice but not informative enough for me. I would recommend this doctor and clinic to others because my opinion is just mine and not reflective of his professional abilities. Dr. Pena was very professional, well spoken and gentle throughout our process and has a very friendly staff. We will definitely be going back.

I arrived 30 minutes early, like they asked, and sat down and was called to the exam room in less than 10 minutes. The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable and Dr. Pena was professional and courteous.

I’ve never had a Doctor be early for an appointment. Thank you Dr. Pena. Dr. Pena listen to me and did what was required an referred me to a Pulmonologist because my complaint was more related to the lungs and not an ENT. Dr. Rene Pena was absolutely amazing with his medical skills. I had a very serious scare regarding my hearing and he kept a very positive attitude and helped solve my medical problem. I highly recommend him and his staff.

Dr. Pena is great. Answered all my questions thoroughly and I'm still in the process of being treated. All the staff is nice and helpful. Would really recommend this clinic for anyone who's looking for an ENT. Hopefully it won't be much longer before I can get some answers about my situation.

The dr and staff were nice but if I would have been informed that they weren't familiar with the reason why I was coming or that the audiologist was not covered I would have went to the neurologist to start with.

Dr Pena helped me in 2012 but it was necessary to urgently see another ENT close to me in Waco recently...the Waco doc blew me off on my second visit, despite knowing the severity of the issue-I was able to get into Dr Pena & he IMMEDIATELY knew the problem & the solution...He performed the painful, but necessary & very effective in -office procedure immediately...I am no longer suffering & feel great! He’s not afraid to do something besides write a script...I nearly wanted to cry from relief..

Horrible job on me. Diagnosed me with a thyroglossal duct cyst. Cut on my neck was huge and uneven. He didn’t get the entire cyst out and continued to swell. Lost out in 8 weeks worth of pto because I needed a second surgery. Which he performed with md Martin corsten. Same result and cyst was still left behind and continued swelling. Decided not to let md Pena or corsten to touch me again and went to md David kang and dr vu. They did a wonderful job the first time. Costed my insurance 100k

Dr Pena misdiagnosed me. He was a third opinion, and being an ENT (specialist) he should have known better, and diagnosed me with further testing. Because of his negligence I got sicker. Had he diagnosed me correctly I could have started treatment sooner so that I wouldn't be in the position I am currently in. I had purulent drainage from my ear. It was intermittent, like I told him, but he said my ear looked "pristine". Turns out Dr Pena, I have Mastoiditis and YOU missed it!

Worst doctor I have ever been to. He rushed through the appointment and acted like I was stupid everytime I asked a question. Looked in my ears for not even a 1/4 of a second and told me there was nothing he could do, that nothing was wrong. If I can't hear out of one of my ears and there a constant ringing and buzzing noise for the past week and a half there is obviously something wrong. From the time I sat down on the room I was there a total of about 8 minutes before Dr.Pena was walking me out. I recommend going to another doctor that will actually take their time and care about their patients concerns. Worst doctor I have ever been to. The staff are great especially the allergy shots dept.

We have seen Dr. Pena for the last 3 years for tubes, skin allergies, and most recently my two & half year old daughter just have tonsillectomy & adenoidectomy. Dr. Pena exceeded our expectations! He thoroughly explained/ walked us through what we could expect before and post surgery, made us feel at ease, answered all our "parent" questions. The nurses were excellent that day not only with us but all the other parents who were there with a little one. The wait time is reasonable!

Appointment time miscommunication. Dr. Pena still saw me. He even made sure I was finished quickly so I didn't miss a meeting. Great patient service.

I went to Dr Pena for a secound opinion after the other Doctor wanted to send me to SW Medical 45 minutes from my home and evauate for if need surgery through the skull to releive my sinuses. After Dr Pena evauated stated he could do the surgery at his facility in Arlington the coventional way and would not have to go through the skull. Did the surgery with excellant results no complicationed and without a major surgery. He also did my wifes surgery with excellant results. He is very layed back.

Dr Pena is an awesome doctor! He is a very caring doctor and makes sure his patients are well taken care of and makes sure they understand everything before they leave the office. He performed my surgery and did an awesome job. I would very highly recommend Dr Pena to anyone and everyone. he is the best!

He dismissed the reason that I came to see him (ear problems) once he saw my enlarged tonsils that I have had my entire life and have not caused me any problems. All he wanted to discuss was tonsil surgery even though I have no medical reason to have them out.

He is very knowledgeable and explains things well. Had a surgery with him and I felt very confident in his abilities. His staff is also very friendly.

Our experience at this office was so bad that all my husband and I could do was laugh once we got home. This review isn't all based on the doctor but the entire staff and the overall experience at the office. We visited the office after receiving a referral from my son's pediatrician. This was our first time to an ENT doctor, we didn't know what to expect and no one at the office was forthcoming to offer information or make us feel comfortable. There is no way we would be back.
