Dr. Rebecca C Burfeind

I agree with every positive review and every negative review. She did explain every step of whay she does and how it will feel. While going through the process and expressing my pain she would asked me if she should stop. I replied no, even though that process was painful I knew the outcome was a solution. She is professional, compassionate,but will let you make up your mind if you want to get better or give up.

On behalf of my husband who has been seen and treated by Dr. Burfeind several times over the past 6 months, we are so grateful to this facility and team. In short, my husband is a mess after an automobile accident where he was not at fault. The nurses are super friendly and personable. The care he's received has been very thoughtful and thorough with attention to all of our concerns. These people work SO hard and have a difficult job of dealing with people who are coming to them for conditions which may or may not have positive results. They have done everything possible to get some pain relief for my husband and have consistently adjusted the plan of care based on his reactions each time they try something. Some of his treatments worked better than others, but, that is the nature of human body and the science of pain management. They keep trying their best with their state of the art resources. I have read some of the reviews posted that are contrary to our experience and hope that those people's viewpoints won't steer anyone away from seeing this doctor or team. I feel that we get out of the world what we poor into the world and we are sending out positive vibes, thankfulness and gratitude for Dr. Burfeind and the NKCH Pain Management Clinic.

I took my family member to an appointment with this doctor for a second opinion. It was a follow up appointment because another doctor (Steven Charapata) in that same practice, had not worked out. Unfortunately, he didn’t possess the bedside manner or compassion that my family member needed and was looking for in a well-qualified, trusted doctor. We checked in at the front desk and then saw the nurse, which was a positive experience. The second Burfeind walks in, she already had a bitter look on her face. She immediately began using a stern, condescending tone of voice, and proceeded to defend the other doctor! She had a complete lack of understanding and compassion for the patients needs, no ability to listen, and little to no interaction with the patient to properly assess the patient’s medical needs! She instead spent nearly all the appointment time defending his every action(s), or lack there of. Rebecca Burfeind was not there to treat the patient that day. She was there to charge an office visit to insurance, and then show her loyalty to her business partner! Blatantly and viciously dismissing the medical needs of the patient! It was such a horrific experience for both my family member and me, we both were in tears by the time we left that doctors office. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND doctor Rebecca Burfeind to my worst enemy. If I was on my death bed, in agonizing and excruciating pain, and she was the last doctor on earth, I would prefer to die a slow, painful death than to ever let this spiteful, rude, incompetent woman lay her hands on me. Was not taken serious, already made up her mind about my medical condition without any further testing. Her nurse was extremely rude. She canceled my appointment for injections and follow up saying my insurance didn’t cover the procedure. She had the wrong insurance. Told me to just take 4000mg of Tylenol a day. No thanks, don’t want to be on the liver transplant list. My PCP sent me there to manage my pain and she told me to go back to my PCP. Waste of time and money. Will never go back!!!!!! I was referred to her for pain relief while I waited for bone surgery that had been approved based on MRI images. After a cursory, but painful exam, she declared that I was malingering and all I needed was OTC pain medications.

I've seen her several times shots in my upper back only one that I would trust always very polite and informative

Dr Burgeind is very caring and patient and takes time to explain all the procedures and when she's actually doing them she tells you exactly what she's doing when she's doing it. Like and trust her very much

I moved to KC in May & needed to find a new Pain Doctor. I chose Dr Rebecca & the Pain Clinic and I am very glad I did. Her staff is friendly, thorough & knowledgeable. We have a game plan for my chronic back pain, shoulder and I am optimistic for the future.

I have seen Dr.Butfeind twice now and felt like both time my issues are not being taken serious. Both times I had advised her of the same issue and what helped and didn’t help and she didn’t seem to care or want to listen to what medication helped, just wanted to put me on medication that I did not want to be on. Very robotic, procedure wasn’t explained in depth. Not personable at all. On the day of procedure doctor was very short with answers. Had a hard time breathing on the table because of the way they had me positioned. I asked to move a little so I could get my neck in the right location in the opening in the table. The staff told me I was fine, I wasn’t. They had a pillow under my stomach which restricted my breathing as well. I told them I couldn’t breath well because of that, and they disregarded that issue as well. I had a panic attack as a result and had to stop the nerve block procedure before the first injection. My fault, I should have arranged to be sedated.

The manner in which she talks to you is very condescending. Didn't seem at all interested in offering any other treatment when what she did wasn't helping me. Very disappointed. Not a fan of being spoken to like I'm an idiot.

Dr. Burfeind attempted to treat my father for chronic lower back pain. She failed in every way. Mostly by the way she treated him. From the first day she saw him she talked down to him and showed no compassion for his situation. She treated him like a convicted criminal and was more worried about her self than considering his condition. My father was 82 and mentally full of life. All he asked was help with being able to walk and stand without excruciating pain that would put him back down. He knew he would never be pain free. I have been under Dr Burfeind's care multiple times. She has always been very kind and always ensures I know exactly what she is doing, and what to expect. She is very good at talking through each process as it is happening. She has so much compassion for her patients and it is very much appreciated.

I had already posted a couple minutes ago, but I ran out of room to mention this as well. I failed to mention when Dr. Burfiend gets ready to do the procedure on me, she explains EVERY detail she goes through, so I will know exactly what I might feel with everything she is doing. She is very thorough!

I have been treated by Dr. Burfeind for neck and lower back pain and I have nothing but positive experiences with each visit. She is very professional, caring and very good at what she does. This wonderful, compassionate doctor has kept me functional by relieving my chronic lower back pain. She always take lots of time with me, never making me feel rushed. She respects my intelligence and engages me in my health care. The staff is very caring and when I call, they always make every effort to get me in quickly, because they know that people who call them are in pain.

My wife and I have seen Dr. Burfeind for multiple years for lumbar back pains. She always takes time to listen to our concerns, has always addressed them and explains treatment options to help resolve those concerns. She is very busy setting patients prior to and after procedures(of any are done).

Dr. Burfeind is great! she listens and is very compensate. she has helped me with my cervical pain and since i have been seeing her i have been more active and less pain and pain meds.

Love Dr. Burfeind! I was referred to her through my primary MD, whom I trust implicitly, and who was also her patient in the past. She is thorough in explaination of the proceedure, empathetic to your pain, responsive to questioning. I was so dicouraged, frustrated and dissapointeded by a previous experience (with a particular Dr.) at the KC pain clinic in Overland Park, that I didn't want to return. So glad she turned that around for me and gave me a better view of this organization that is built to help people in pain. I would refer her to anyone and everyone!

Very good at doing her procedures when she finally gets into the room! Often 2-3 hrs spent in that office!!

I was referred to Dr. Burfeind by my ortho doctor. I was preparing for an 11 day youth educational trip to Europe. I faced long plane flights and intense walking/stair climbing, etc. I prepared for the trip by losing 70 lbs and training and this was the insurance that I needed to insure I had a great time. I read Dr. Burfeind’s/KC Pain Center’s reviews and by other’s experiences, I was a bit concerned. I met with Dr. B to discuss my needs. She was very detailed and comprehensive about her approach to my needs. I had a great consultation and felt comfortable about going on with the procedure. Her staff scheduled me. I, at no time, had a bad experience with Dr. B or the staff at any point in the process. I need to note that I had a pain center experience several years prior to this one. There is NO comparison to that experience and this one. That experience was unpleasant and uneffective. This was at a pain center in south KC. So, to shorten my review...Dr. Burfiend and her staff was very professional. The experience was very pleasant and most of all effective. I was able to walk, sit for long hours and hike up and down flights of stairs. I amazed myself. Now, I scheduled a follow-up with Dr. Burfiend and her staff. Dr. B treated me 10 years ago and I had 10 years with no real issues - Had another disc rupture and she is treating me again. She is direct, asks good questions and has reduced my pain quite a bit. I am really surprised at the negative reviews. I find her a very good doctor.

I’ve been seeing Dr Burfeind for about 13 years. She does seem rushed sometimes, & I know her clinic has a lot of patients & believe that’s the reason why. Recently, though, I had a particularly serious issue and she was there for me. She’s exceptionally great about explaining details & procedures, which I really appreciate. She’s not always the most empathetic, but I’ve found personally, at least in my case, she was there for me when I was at a particulars low point. I even got a hug from her. ??

I found Dr. Burfeind to have no empathy what-so-ever for me, during a recent extremely painful back medical procedure that she performed on me. She acted very rude, uncaring, unprofessional & talked down to me. I really liked NKC hospital, but I had to find another doctor & hospital. I was so disappointed in this doctor.

I've been see Dr Burfeind going on ten years now. I can't begin to say how much she has helped me! She has always been attentive to my needs and wants. Never rushed me to make a decision on any of my procedures. Some of my dearest friends are see her now for thier ailments. I wouldn't recommend her if I didn't trust her.

Dr Burnfeind performed the Coolief Radio Frequency Ablation for knee pain and was excellent from my first visit to having actual procedure done. She was very kind and thorough explaining every step along the way. The entire team at Kansas City North Hospital Pain Management Center was wonderful providing excellent care. Would highly recommend!!!

Dr. Burfeind seems nice at first. The more I saw her, the less time she had for me. I was rushed out of appointments, and the more questions I had, the more she talked down to me. Talks down to you, doesn't spend adequate time answering questions, gave conflicting information. The only good thing is that she explains what is happening during procedures. Everything else I am not satisfied with.

I found my experience quite unpleasant and I didn't get the help I needed so won't be going back.

She's wonderful! So easy to talk to and understand. She uses reflective hearing to make sure she hears you, she's very comforting and with each procedure (where applicable) she walks the patient through each step of the procedure. Excellent bed side manner! Love her!
