Dr. Raymond Mckay Carroll

I was referred to Dr. Carroll for Snapping scapula surgery due to my other doctor not being able to perform the surgery. I was able to get an appointment within a few days, and after going over everything I was approved for surgery and scheduled for 2 weeks out. This was back in October. My other shoulder required surgery as well and at an appointment at the end of November, I was scheduled for surgery on December 20th. Everything went great with both surgeries! Before these surgeries, I never thought my shoulders would be normal again. Dr. Carroll and Erika truly saved my life and I couldn't be happier with them. They get you in for appointments and surgery quickly and don't give you the run around like most doctors. Thank you both so much!

I highly recomend Dr. Carroll based on the research I did when looking for a shoulder specialist and even more so based on my personal experience. When I felt early stages of occasional pain in my shoulder and forearm, Dr. Carroll did not immediately recommend surgery. The therapy and exercise regimen he recommended gave me an additional year of pain free Pickelball play. Gradually, over time my pain started re-occuring. Eventually the pain came more frequently and Dr. Carroll let me know it was time for orthoscopic surgery. I especially appreciated his taking time to help me understand what was occurring, why it would not get better without surgery and what I could expect post surgery. Dr. Carroll and his staff have been a pleasure to work with and my Pickelball future is looking bright again. Dr. Carroll is an excellent surgeon. I would highly recommend Dr. Carroll for his expert abilities. He fixed my rotator cuff. His PA, Erika Davis is amazing also. She answered all my questions, calmed my fears, offered great advice in a very friendly and professional manner. It was a much better experience than I was expecting due to info from other people had the same surgery with different doctors outside of Cary Ortho. The 3-day nerve block was amazing so I didn't have any post-op pain. My physical therapy at Performance PT is amazing as well. I have had only good experiences at Cary Orthopaedic. I saw Dr. Carroll and he did a complete shoulder replacement for me in November 2021. I saw him for a Pre-op visit (he was very patient and answered all of my questions) and at the hospital the day of the surgery. I am so thankful I had the replacement done. The worst part about it was trying to sleep after the surgery for a few weeks. I have seen his P.A., Erika, and she is amazing and knowledgeable! I had a very good experience with Cary Ortho. They provide genuine care and comfort for their patients in a warm, relaxed atmosphere. Dr. Carroll was great and NP Erika Davis was equally amazing.

Dr. Carroll and his team are simply fantastic and I would STRONGLY endorse him if you have any shoulder issues, his expertise related to shoulders is the best I have experienced (and I have had 3 different shoulder surgeries from three different surgeons). I am especially grateful that Dr. Carroll was my second opinion that contradicted a more thorough and risky surgery that another surgeon suggested (that surgery also required a much longer rehab). Dr. Carroll also offered names of other orthos to get a third opinion which I did (and the 3rd doc confirmed Dr. Carroll's diagnosis 100%). Reverse Shoulder Replacement Surgery went terrifically. It's been just over three months since surgery. I am 80 - 90 % back to normal and getting better daily. Dr. Carroll and the Cary Orthopedic team have been great!

I tore my rotator cuff and the surgery was a huge success... 4 small incisions, rotator cuff repair, and a cleanup of the adjacent bone areas, and after only a couple of weeks in a sling and on the ice machine, I started PT with Kurt at the Original Strength Institute in Fuquay Varina. 8 weeks later I am almost back at 100% range of motion in my shoulder and arm. Very professional and attentive. Diagnosis and treatment plan was direct and immediate.

Was very knowledgeable and listened to my issues and worries.

I had an unfortunate accident that required rotator cuff repair. I was able to quickly get in to see Dr. Carroll. He gave me confidence that he knew what damage was done and that they could fix it. His staff got me set up for an MRI to confirm the massive damage that had occurred. It was pretty smooth and fast getting set up for surgery. Best of all insurance was a breeze. Dr. Carroll clearly explained the surgery, did the surgery, and explained what he did after it was completed. The process was great, my shoulder is getting back to normal, and I have my life back. Best experience ever. Most Competent and Friendliest doc in town.

Went to see Dr. Carroll for frozen shoulder that had not responded to months of PT. Ended up having surgery to remove scar tissue and cut the bicep muscle. I am 8 weeks from surgery and already much further along than I was before the surgery. I am super happy with the treatment I received at Cary Ortho and from Dr. Carroll!

My first visit with Dr Carroll was to repair a bicep tear. It was my first surgery and was absolutely an amazing experience. Dr Carroll explained my options, and the results are fantastic. The scar is completely gone, my strength is restored, no more pain. I have friends who had similar surgery with different doctors and their results were complete opposite, they still have scars, pain and weakness.. I was so happy that I am back for more surgery for my knee !! :)

Dr Carroll is thorough and great to work with. I have seen him other times in the past and I would highly recommend him. He found a fracture the emergency room missed as a source of pain and instability. Clearly explained my options for a second bone break that clearly needs surgery.

Dr. Carroll looked at the bump on my shoulder and immediately identified it as a Ganglion Cyst. In short order, he drained the cyst and gave me a shot of cortisone mixed with Lidocaine. Doctor Carol has a very nice bedside manner.

Met all my expectations!!! Starting with check in. Kirby the nurse did an excellent job. Dr Carroll was wonderful. He read my MRI and understood immediately what procedure necessary to correct my problems!!!

Dr. Raymond is very accurate in his diagnosis. He gives quick overall feedback with out explaining too much, but gives consolidate feedback what ever as a patient I need to know.

I’ve seen Dr Raymond Carroll for my heel injury, Dr Curzan for my wrist injury and Dr Martini for a sports injury (IT Band). I wouldn’t go to any other place for my ortho needs than here. Only wish there was an MRI facility in Morrisville location. Plus performance physical therapy just above is my go to place as well for PT. Thank you! I fell and fractured my leg. Dr. Carroll and Lesslie took very good care of me. They saw me promptly, prescribed the right medications, and gave me clear directions to follow for a speedy recovery.

I have had several surgeries done by Dr Carroll, all with great success. He does a great job listening, diagnosing the problem, clearly explains the options, recovery and expected outcome, I recommend him to anyone needing Orthopaedic care.

Dr. Carroll performed surgery on my right shoulder rotator cuff and detached tendon/muscle on February 16th of this year. I had been told by several friends that went through the same surgery the pain level from the surgery would be pretty high, and the recovery time would be around 6 months. I am 8 weeks out now and recovering nicely with very little to no pain. I am very surprised and pleased with the results, and my range of mobility is already way past where it was expected to be. Dr. Carroll has replaced my left shoulder and repaired my right rotator cuff. He also replaced my left knee. Never once did I have any fear and the pain was minimal. Dr Carroll performed a total left shoulder replacement for me. After only 4 months I am pain free from the osteoarthritis, have 80% of my full range of motion back, far beyond what it was before replacement, and strength on the way. Sleeping well, able to swing the golf club again and perform activities of daily living normally. Still doing PT twice per week to get full range of motion and full strength back. I have used Cary Orthopaedic for a number of years now first Dr. Curzan, then Dr. Economedes for knee replacement and now Dr. Carroll. I would recommend either one of these Doctors plus the staff who works with each Doctor, from the front desk, to the appointment and then check-out have always been very pleasant and helpful.

Visit for shoulder soreness

My appointment with Dr. Carroll was on time. My left shoulder has been hurting. He looked at my MRI results and determined I did not require surgery. I have Nerve damage and he referred me to a specialist. As always very happy with Dr. Carroll and his staff.

Anyone that gets a shoulder procedure done in the Raleigh area that doesn't use Dr. Carroll, is doing themselves a great disservice. Spend 5 minutes with his assistant Leslie and you will know right away that you don't need a second opinion. This coming from a highly active person that's had many orthopedic procedures done on both arms.

Once I got into the exam room, my visit with Dr. Carroll was great! He took the time to answer all my questions and provided a detailed description of what was involved with my treatment. Although it took 30 minutes to actually get called into the exam room, the total experience was good.
