Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also referred to as rehabilitation medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with diagnosing, evaluating, and treating patients with physical disabilities. These disabilities may arise from conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system such as neck and back pain, sports injuries, or other painful conditions affecting the limbs, such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Alternatively, the disabilities may result from neurological trauma or disease such as spinal cord injury, head injury or stroke. A physician certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation is often called a physiatrist. The primary goal of the physiatrist is to achieve maximal restoration of physical, psychological, social and vocational function through comprehensive rehabilitation. Pain management is often an important part of the role of the physiatrist. For diagnosis and evaluation, a physiatrist may include the techniques of electromyography to supplement the standard history, physical, x-ray and laboratory examinations. The physiatrist has expertise in the appropriate use of therapeutic exercise, prosthetics (artificial limbs), orthotics and mechanical and electrical devices.

I had x-rays of my whole spine. My neck is in constant pain. He told me nothing was wrong with me and dismissed me. i was 27 at the time. I now have a hump on my upper back, reversed cervical spine and my spine has completely moved and is now an S shape, the bottom of my spine goes to the right.. Luckily i'm working with someone else now that believes me. I printed out my old xray papers and gave them to the current person i'm working with and he was shocked nothing was done. Won't be going back to Dr. schultz.

Had to reschedule an initial appointment and was told I was a no call no show which was not true-had the voicemail from Neurospine to prove it. Was told by Dr. Schultz’s scheduler that he said tell “her to see someone else.” Extremely rude-I guess healthcare providers and schedulers are never wrong.

I saw Randall Schultz for spinal stenosis. I found him to be VERY rude, arrogant and dismissive. He also seemed very rushed and it appeared I was more of an inconvenience to him. He offered me no treatment or advice. He was TOTALLY dismissive of my pain, actually rolled his eyes. I never have been so disrespected by a physician EVER!!!! In another note, I made an appointment to see another physician at a different clinic. That Dr ordered an MRI and I had surgery 3 weeks later. I am happy to report I am feeling so much better and actually able to resume my normal activities. Best of all I am now pain free. If I would have took Dr Schultz’s advice and basically stop feeling sorry for myself I would still be suffering. I would NOT recommend Randall Schultz to anyone EVER. Worst experience I ever had with a health care provider. He has zero compassion and comes across inconsiderate and rude.

I was referred to Dr. Schultz for two back fractures. While some might view him as arrogant, I see him as a doctor who is very good at what he does and is confident. He is not a fuzzy doctor, but well researched, scientific and thorough . There was an appointment that I missed and he had his office call and check up on me. My back is back to normal except for arthritis that was there before the fall. Many thanks to Dr. Schultz!

Dr. Schultz performed a nerve block procedure on my L-5 this morning. There wasn't any pain associated with the procedure. Everything went very smoothly and the follow up at the end was explained thourghly. Checking in for the appointment to checking out was done very professionally. They made sure I was rested enough and had me move a-foot with apparent stability before departing. My pain level demenished substantially within minutes after the procedure, almost 90% 10 hrs later. This DO is a unsympathetic, arrogant, and just plain RUDE. Another Dr referred me to DO Schultz & this man had the audacity to treat me like I was wasting his time. I actually left the office crying. I would never recommend Neurospine to anyone. Front desk was also very rude.

He was definitely abrupt, unwilling to listen and seemingly rushed. He did order MRI (I'm waiting for follow-up results visit). Most interesting, since Fibromyalgia is listed as one of his interests/specialties on this and other sites, he does NOT treat fibromyalgia and said if that was the reason for my visit he wouldn't have given me an appointment. I also have chronic pain from neck & back stenosis and osteoarthritis, so our appointment continued and focused on that.

I had my appt with Dr. Schultz this morning. Iam extremely happy woth him. I had brought my MRI with me that the Radiologist found nothing on. However, Dr. Schultz found that the Radiologist completely missed the fact that I have fluid around C2-3 joint. He showed and explained the pictures. I am a MT/E so I have some knowledge in the field. IHe had his nurse get the radiologist on the phone as soon as he saw this. I am extremely thankful for him, as this had been completely missed. I am having my injection in 1 week. I really hope it doesn't hurt too bad!!!!

Dr. Schults always seemed to rush me out of his office. He told me I had tendnosis based on a MRI over a year old. He basically told me to stop working out but since I'm in the Army and my job requires me to workout and train that wasn't an option for me. I went and got a second opinion. The new doctor ordered a new MRI on my knee, the new MRI showed I had a torn patella tendon. I had to have surgery to repair the torn tendon. Dr. Schultz didn't have patience with me nor did he seem to care about my pain. I wouldn't recommend Dr. Schultz to any new patient. I would recommend Dr. Richard Schram for any knee or shoulder injury.

I was referred to Dr. Schultz by my primary care doctor and saw him regarding degenerative disc disease problems and ongoing chronic pain. This guy is extremely arrogant, rude and isn't the least bit interested in resolving your problems. He seems to think that he is God's gift to medicine. During my intial visit, he slandered two other doctors and the Mayo Clinic all within the first 5 minutes of my appointment. He reviewed a 4 year old MRI and offered the opinion that I needed surgery. I reminded him that I had noted a surgery following that MRI on the mountain of paperwork they have you fill out and suggested that perhaps we get a more current MRI before scheduling a surgery that I didn't need.He ordered the MRI and set up an appointment to review the results with me two weeks later. I live 90 miles from Dr. Schult's office and only traveled that far because I respected my primary care physician's opinion. On the day of the appointment, we left two hours early to allow for any traffic delays. Upon arriving at his office, I went up to register and was told that Dr. Schultz was not in that day (he took a day of vacation) and that they had tried to call me to cancel the appointment but got no answer at my home (because we had already left). I asked them to have Dr. Schultz call me. I made a 180 mile round trip for nothing. He called the next evening and made some excuses for why he had taken the day off. He reviewed the results of the MRI over the phone and suggested the an epidural injection would provide some pain relief. When I asked for some additional information, he cut me off and said that he was really busy. It was 6:30 pm. The appointment for the injection was set up and I called his office on the day of the appointment to make sure he came to work that day. As he was performing the injection, I told him that the pain was getting much worse but he continued to complete the injection. Once he completed the procedure he told me that I could get up off the table. When I tried to stand up the pain was excruciating and I had to sit back down on the table. The nurse who assisted the wonderful Dr. Schultz seem somewhat alarmed and asked if I wanted a wheelchair. I asked for a couple more minuted on the table to see if I could walk out of the room. Long story made short, I could not walk out of the procedure room so I was wheeled into an exam room for about 15-20 minutes. The nurse returned to check on me and I tried to stand again but couldn't due to the pain. I was then wheeled out of their facility. It took approximately 3.5 hours before I could walk again. This procedure was performed on a Wednesday. I continued to have extreme pain through the weekend that even high does of Oxycontin would not control. So on the following Monday I called Dr. Schultz's office to explain my situation and asked that he call me because something definately seemed to be wrong. Two days later, one of his staff returned my call and after hearing my story said she'd try to get him to call me. He called the next day, Wednesday (3 days after I called him to explain that something was wrong and one week after the procedure)and said that he could see me on Friday. I asked him what he would most likely do about the situation on Friday and he replied 'I'll press on your back'. That was not a real confidence booster so I found another doctor. I'd encourage anyone who is considering placing themselves in Dr. Schultz's 'care' to find another physician who knows what he is doing and has some compassion and concern for his/her patient. This guy is going to hurt somebody badly.

Arrogant, doesnt even seem to enjoy his profession.Treated me like I was a complainer ... and then he saw the results of the EMG. No wonder I'm in pain all the time. And he knows nothing about spasmodic torticollis and offered no advice basically. He should understand that it is hard to explain your pain when taking Vicodin for the last few months...and yes doc that was on my chart history.I will go elsewere for my cervical spine stenosis also.
