I had 3 previous surgeries with complications due to spinal fluid leaks. Those surgeries were successful but they left me with surgical fatigue. And to top it off some possible nerve damage was still causing me excruciating pain. Dr. Dryer suggested we try a spinal cord stimulator. A much less invasive procedure, requiring two minimal surgeries. The results so far have been excellent. I have little if any sciatica pain from the nerves. I sleep all night, I am able to sit in a chair for more than 10 minutes. My wife and I are traveling next month - the first trip since the original injury. Thank you, Dr. Dryer and staff - you guys are awesome!

My brother was operated on by Dr. Dryer about 10 years ago and still has no back pain to this day, and he is a truck driver who loads and unloads his own truck. I spent 24 years in the Navy as a Gunner's Mate, the last 14 years with 4 different SEAL Teams and 5 tours to Iraq and Middle East, so when I decided to finally have my surgery, I called Dr. Dryer. He replaced 2 discs in my lower back that were bone-on-bone. I am 6 months post-op and I feel great! I'm taking it easy on the heavy lifting but I'm back to playing golf, lifting weights and mountain biking at age 61. There is no better surgeon than Dr. Dryer and his staff, I highly recommend them!!! GOD Bless

My name is George McMillan, I am 66 years old. I had suffered from “significant” sciatic pain in my left glute for at least three years. For the last year before surgery (November 2021, by Randall F. Dryer, M.D.) my pain had increased to a point I could not stand for more than 5 minutes without extreme debilitating pain. In the month or two it took to assess, do some therapy (to secure insurance assistance) and determine surgery was the best (for me the only) solution my pain began to flare up when I was sitting (no comfortable position possible). At this point I had to seriously consider a significant surgical correction. When we went to surgery my order to the doctor was to view the challenge like he would for himself. I was comfortable with this approach since I grew to know the doctor. Like me he was VERY driven in his work and led a very active lifestyle to achieve it. The scope of my surgery turned out to be a laminectomy (L2 – S1) to relieve spinal cord compaction/pressure. This was a difficult surgery from a pain perspective, and I have a high threshold for pain. This pain was short lived, and I was walking within 48 hours of my surgery, still in pain but manageable with meds. Upon my effort to walk after surgery I immediately knew the sciatic pain, I had been living with was gone. I waited for time to pass before writing this review so that I could share details of my recovery and rehabilitation. Net is I got immediate results from the surgery. It is end of April following the surgery and each week I feel more stable in my lower back. I am following a regiment of walks for therapy and doctor’s orders not to lift. I am going to be able to begin lifting and performing more strenuous activities at six months (for me end of May). All in all, a stellar result and a debt to my surgeon (Randall F. Dryer, M.D.) and his staff for the care and the correction I cannot put a size on. My name is George McMillan, I am 66 years old. Dr. Dryer is very knowledgeable, professional and stays up to date on the latest technology and techniques in his field. I'm an active person who enjoys hiking, lifting weights, playing pickleball and water sports. In 2015 Dr. Dryer performed a lumbar discectomy for me and in 2017 I hiked to Mt. Everest Base Camp. So, when I started having issues with my neck and my pain got to a point that it affected my quality of life and I wasn't able to do the things I enjoyed anymore I went to see him again. Dr. Dryer performed a cervical two level artificial disc replacement for me at the end of January this year and I'm now three months post-op. I'm happy to say I'm out of pain and back to doing all the things I love again. Dr. Dryer, his PA, Vanessa and his entire staff are top notch. They've always been friendly and helpful with any issues I've had regarding scheduling, paperwork or general questions. Central Texas Spine gave me my ability to function daily back again: the strength in my left arm 100% returned; ZERO headaches (daily before surgery); numbness and tingling down my back and left shoulder is 100% gone; and my ability to sleep through the night is restored. I was petrified at the the idea of a 4 level cervical spine fusion, but I was even more worried I would live with debilitating pain for the rest of my life. I chose Dr. Dyer and his staff (visited 2 other surgeon's before him) because he was honest with me and my options, he showed me patient successes and his staff is personable, kind, gracious, and thorough. Dr. Dryer is articulate, straight to the point, and confident which is exactly what you want from the Dr. operating on your cervical spine! His PA Vanessa, is responsive, supportive, confident, understanding and patient. The practice is cutting edge and thorough. I could not be more thrilled. 3 months post op and pain free. So thankful! Dr Dryer completed a cervical and lumbar surgery. Both surgeries failed (artificial cervical disc slipped out and lumbar now has a curve and did not fuse). He told me it was normal and his nurse told me in private that it was not normal so I sought a second opinion. The new doctor told me the original surgeries WERE NOT medically necessary and unfortunately had to be repeated to correct the original procedures. After 4 surgeries within 10 months, it impacted my overall well being. In addition, he performed the surgeries within 1 week of each other as he said that is the only way the insurance would pay him for both surgeries. He thought more of himself financially than me as a patient who had to be put under twice. I do not recommend Dr Dryer. There are doctors out there that truly care about you as a person and money is not their top motivator.

Dr. Dryer did an excellent procedure on resolving issues due to spinal stenosis in my lumbar region. Both the staff at his office and at the surgery center were professional and courteous and also quickly address my concerns with the post op procedure. I would recommend Dr. Dryer for any spine related issues.

I have been seeing Dr. Dryer for a little over 2 years. The office staff are amazing! PA Vanessa is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Dr. Dryer is very knowledgeable, quick and to the point. He doesn't like to waste time, which I really appreciate! The man is very busy, so I appreciate the time. 16 years of active duty military had wrecked my back, and unlike my local hospital doctors, he was able to find the problem and go over the options within 5 minutes of looking over the x-rays. Dr. Dryer was able to complete the stage 2 fusion, interior (and posterior later due to insurance), and SI fusions with no issues. I am on the road to recovery and feeling very hopeful! After years of going to a chiropractor and months of physical therapy, I was still in pain and starting to lose function in my left arm due to nerve damage caused by pressure the vertebrae in my neck were putting on my spinal cord. My every day way of life was steadily dwindling. After a lot of research, I made an appointment with Dr. Dryer at Central Texas Spine Institute and I am SO glad that I did. I live 5 hours away but it was definitely worth the trips from the initial consultation visit to the final check up after surgery. The surgery performed was an Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion of 2-3 levels of vertebrae with a cage implantation . The moment I woke up from surgery I no longer felt the pressure, the tingling, the dizziness, or the pain I had been living with for so long. It's been 8 months since my surgery and I feel great! The scar on my neck is barely visible and I’m back to a normal life including going to the gym thanks to Dr. Dryer and his amazing team!

On three occasions beginning in 1995, Dr. Randall Dryer gave me my life back by surgically repairing bulging discs that were pinching parts of my spinal nerve and causing incredible pain all over my lower legs. To give you an idea of the pain, in the two months prior to Dr. Dryer’s most recent miracle while I was awaiting insurance clearance, I lost 24 pounds, could not sleep, could not recall names, could not complete sentences, and could not find relief from the maddening leg and back pain that would be in one place one day and in another the next. The pain was so intense that I could not focus my thoughts for more than a few seconds and I became incapable of thinking thru minor issues and/or decision making. In less than an hour in each of his three surgeries, I was pain-free and, on two of the occasions where I spent the night at the hospital for observation, I was up at dawn walking the halls for a good two hours until Dr. Dryer made his rounds and cut me loose to go home.

Dr. Dryer changed my life! I had been experiencing chronic pain in my glute and down my right leg for way too long. I was at the point where I could no longer sit comfortably no matter the position and standing had begun to be an issue as well. At my initial visit, some of the first words out of Dr. Dryer’s mouth were “I can fix this”. I had been to my primary care doctor, who prescribed steroids, to my chiropractor, then to another chiropractor for a second opinion and then to physical therapy. I found none of these forms of treatment to help with the pain. I felt I had exhausted all of my other options before opting for surgery…which sounded extremely scary to me. I would recommend you do your own research but if everything points to surgery, I would very highly recommend Dr. Dryer. Not only is he amazing, but the people that work in his office made me feel almost like family…and I only had three office visits!

I just got home from an incredibly demoralizing appointment with Dr. Dryer. I chose him because he had good reviews l, and I’ve had a myriad of spine problems for almost 15 years. He told me I’d have to get my weight down for surgery. OK, but I don’t even want a fusion, and that was pretty much the extent of the less than one minute I spent with him aside from a pain management referral. ($40 for one minute!) His bedside personality was absolute crap—he didn’t even make eye contact. It was pretty much like he’s just looking to operate, and since I’m was not a good candidate to go under the knife, I was totally dismissed. His office staff and PA were nice, however. I cannot say enough amazing things about Dr Dryer and his entire staff. As an athlete I was terrified to be seeing a spine surgeon at such a young age. I was diagnosed at 18 with a pars defect (broken vertebrae) and degenerative disc disease at L5/S1; the doctors, then, gaffed me off and did not fully explain what this could evolve too. Fast forward to 35 and I have been unable to run for many years without excruciating pain. Upon entering his office I had a list of questions and knew I didn't want injections and assumed I would have to make that fight. The damage had progressed to stage 2 spondylolisthesis, a herniated disc, bulging disc and additional degenerated discs from L4-S1. I was amazed that he said if I want this fixed surgery was the only option and I could opt for injections if I wanted them to tide me over until surgery. I declined but was very impressed with his willingness to really listen to me and not push me into unnecessary procedures. My surgery was done in two stages; I had an ALIF, bone grafting and discectomy in stage 1 and two weeks later a PLIF, laminectomy and osteotomies in stage 2. Between surgeries I walked 36 miles and by 6 weeks postop stage 2 I had walked over 80 miles and was cleared to start PT on my own, lifting upper body and lower body bodyweight exercises. I am beyond thrilled with my outcome and although I still have a long way to go; I have no doubt Dr Dryer and his teams expertise played a large part in my recovering being far easier then I anticipated.

Dr. Dryer is condescending, rude, cold, has poor bedside manner, and a complete disregard for a patients concerns. I pray no one will have the same experience I did for their own safety, but after reading other reviews I think that is doubtful. Dr. Dryer and his dark haired assistant that comes in the room also, seem to just want to go straight to surgery as quickly as possible while skipping any other possible potential cures. They both act like I was wasting their time asking questions. Dr. Dryer comes in the room and doesn’t address the patient, spends less than 3-4 minutes in the room, and you’re left with endless questions wondering why you chose this disdainful Dr. in the first place! Avoid him at all costs….your spine will thank you!

After two years of tailbone pain, I almost lost my ability to sit at all. After seeing countless doctors and trying several different therapies, I made my way to Dr. Dryer to discuss getting a coccygectomy - a full removal of my tailbone. I had read a lot on this procedure and knew it wasn't common, so needed the right surgeon to perform the procedure. Dr. Dryer was the right surgeon. He was open and honest about what I should expect and the recovery and even had me try several other things before we seriously considered the surgery. I am now a year out from the procedure and my pain has dramatically reduced so I can live a normal life again. I'm so appreciative of Dr. Dryer's skill and approach to this procedure.

I've been a patient of Dr. Dryer for over 20 years with lower back and leg pain. Double fusion in 2008; laminectomy in 2012 and most recently we surgically implanted the spinal cord stimulator system since my whole spinal column was riddled with arthritis. I did not take this lightly but when I woke up in recovery, I had absolutely no pain. During follow up his staff has been very responsive and helpful and I highly recommend Dr. Dryer and his team if you are experiencing lower back pain. Read more about it and look at his testimonials. He's the best in my opinion!

Please reconsider having back surgery. Dr. Dryer has performed three back surgeries on my back and the last surgery has left me in constant pain and I can hardly walk due to my left leg being so weak. I can’t take away that Dr. Dryer is good, I just believe that he over estimated how good he was when he did my last surgery. He sent me to have more tests and he told me once he gets the results they would contact me for a follow up.....Here I am a year later still waiting for that call. I went from having no pain and walking with a limp to hardly being able to walk and being in constant pain.

Dr. Dryer diagnosed my MRI on a Friday and had me in for lower back surgery 7 days later. When I awoke from the surgery, I Immediately noticed that the pain that had been emanating from my right buttock and down my leg for the last three months was gone! Recovery from surgery took about 10 days and after those 10 days I was walking and starting to feel normal. In my books my surgery was a miraculous event and for that I give complete credit to Dr. Dryer. My quality of life has changed in such a positive way post surgery and I am regaining the simple pleasures and activities in life that were so elusive to me for the last three months. Six weeks after surgery I am back to cycling and walking and enjoying those simple activities without pain. The bottom line is I feel so much better after the surgery and I am most grateful for Dr. Dryer and his professional staff for making this possible. I am so glad that I found Dr. Dryer and had this procedure. I would highly recommend him.

Ugh. Very dismissive. Actually argued with me that alcohol and Ambien "were the same thing." I said I knew they had similar effects, but were different substances. He said, "No, they're the same thing." Even if he were right, he shouldn't be arguing with a patient that way.

I have suffered from chronic neck pain for over 25 years due in part to my chosen profession, dentistry. I have spent the last 25 years searching for an answer. I’ve tried chiropractic, medications, massage, and gimmick traction devices without lasting results. I choose a physician based on results only. Three different people in my small town had good results with Dr Dryer. His name kept coming up. I found him to be on time, professional and backed by a very dedicated friendly team. After reviewing my MRI with Dr Dryer, I was satisfied that surgery was long overdue. I had 3 level ACDF surgery last week. I was shocked to be pain free upon waking from surgery. Why did I wait so long? I can recommend Dr Dryer and his team without reservation. Just do it!

I recently went to see Dr. Dryer for a second opinion after another spinal surgeon did not think I needed surgery. After reviewing my medical records, MRI and physical exam he agreed I needed a microdiscectomy to relieve the pain I had been experiencing for the past 3 months. The thing I appreciated about Dr. Dryer was he is a straight shooter and will not sugar coat anything for you. He gets straight to the point and is very confident in his abilities. After agreeing to surgery on 12/31/2020 I am very pleased to say I am 100% pain free whereas before I was ~7-10 pain scale 100% of the day. I could not stand for more than 1-2 mins, couldn't walk more than 5 yards without being in excruciating pain. I can't thank Dr. Dryer enough for helping me get back on track to riding a bike again, playing outside with my kids or even picking up my kids. This really was life changing!

I saw Dr Dryer for my 3rd back surgery (first two were 20+ years ago), when I had 2 discs rupture and another severely herniate. The disc fragments pushed on my spinal column and nerves so badly that my left leg immediately went numb and muscles "shut off." Dr Dryer got me into an MRI the same day, and I had a triple level fusion (L5/S1, L4/5, L3/4) 3 weeks later. He was thorough explaining my options for surgeries, and what the probable outcome of each would be, and helped manage my pain while I awaited surgery. Dr Dryer is no nonsense - he won't sugar coat your situation or simply tell you what you want to hear, but he'll tell you what needs to be done to fix you. He initially presented as very clinical, but when he visited me in the hospital pre-op he was warm and caring, and calmed my nerves. I'm 6mos post-op today, & with every checkup Dr Dyer has been attentive, warm, and excited for my progress - he has done wonders for my quality of life! Also his PA Vanessa is incredible!

CTSI with Dr Dryer is THE provider to see. I have been through two surgeries. A fusion and a disk rupture repair. In both cases my pain was reduced and mobility improved. My questions and concerns were addressed, and I went into my ACDF procedure fully informed and prepared. I felt immediate relief and rapid healing after the outpatient surgery. Dr Dryer is the one you are looking for. I met Dr. Dryer via a 2nd opinion visit and was so thankful that I did. He was VERY thorough with the initial exam and left no stone unturned. You will not be disappointed. I had 4 Fusions from C3-T1, and when I woke up in my room, the pain and numbness I had been experiencing was GONE. Dr Dryer's staff, both in the office and in the hospital, are TOP NOTCH! I went out on a limb and tested my new neck after 3 months post recovery. After a 2700-mile motorcycle trip through CO and NM, I was pain free my entire trip. Dr Dryer is a life changer and I strongly recommend him for any of your spinal issues. You can’t put a price tag on experience and perfection especially when rated one of the highest in its field if neurosurgeons.

WOW! I can not tell you what a unprofessional man Dr. Dryer is. He looked at my back, said nothing, and I was in and out of the office in 20 min. This place is BEWARE. DO NOT GO. Dr. Dryer did not help me, nor did HE CARE. Ruthless, ignorant and SELFISH. Dr. Dryer is not a DR he's looking to make sure he gets your money.

Dr. Dryer operated on my back about a year and a half ago. As a young mother of two toddlers, I was desperate to find relief for the excruciating back pain that developed in my first pregnancy and progressively worsened. Several doctors had told me that it was something that I would have to live with after months of extensive therapy had failed to bring any relief. But it WAS NOT something I could live with and be the mother and wife my family deserved. I drove 7 hours to see Dr. Dryer as a last resort. He took one look at my imaging, explained what was wrong, and said, "I can fix this!". And he did. My back pain and instability is fully resolved. I can keep up with my kids without any problem and I am back to doing all the things I love. The surgery and recovery were rough, but I would do it again in a heartbeat if needed. I cant thank Dr. Dryer enough.

I am very grateful to Dr. Dryer and his excellent staff. I lived in pain, 24/7, and Dr. Dryer recommended a discectomy. It was a success, fast and efficient. After that, I recovered my life. Today, I live without pain and with a quality life. I highly recommend Dr. Dryer.

I am very thankful to Dr. Dryer and his PA-C Vanessa Scialom for acting quickly and decisively to get me an MRI, review it with me in-office the same day, and then perform a microdiscectomy later the same week, even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. What I had considered to be mildly annoying back pain for a couple months had turned into numbness and tingling in the bottom of my left foot and a worsening weakness and atrophy in my left quad muscle. As I write this, I'm 4-weeks post-op, and it's remarkable how much better I feel. I have to constantly remind myself to follow the post-op protocol because I feel well enough to do much more than I'm supposed to do at this stage in my recovery. I can say with certainty that Dr. Dryer and Vanessa Scialom are highly competent. Based on my experience, I'd even call them brilliant, excellent, efficient, experts, and my trusted back care team for the foreseeable future.

Dr.Randall Dryer did a fusion on me. I went a long time having pain, I’m in my 50’s and I was very nervous of having surgery. I felt very comfortable of Dr.Randall Dryer to do my surgery. He is very intelligent very caring and very upfront with everything. Had my surgery and was back to work after two weeks. Dr.Dryer and Vanessa was great. If your having back or neck pain Central Texas Spine is the place to go. I recommend everyone to look into this office. From the front to the back the whole staff is amazing. Very caring and make you feel very comfortable. Thank you very much. Kimberly H

I chose Dr. Dryer because of his outstanding reputation and experience. He also came highly recommended by 2 of my friends who have been under Dr. Dryer's care. His staff are gracious, knowledgeable, and expedient. Having had the surgery just over a week ago, I can say that I made the right decision. Shortly after scheduling, the pain of my impingement increased in severity. I called his office and his team found me an earlier date. Despite the fact that hospitals, due to the COVID19 outbreak, were canceling surgeries deemed elective, his team went the extra mile to protect the appointment for my procedure due to the level of my pain. Dr. Dryer successfully replaced 2 of my cervical discs. Throughout this process, Dr. Dryer and team showed compassion and diligence. They proactively managed my pain, and the procedure brought instant relief. I will certainly give Dr. Dryer my highest recommendation to anyone requiring spine surgery.

Excellent doctor and superior staff! Went to Dr. Dryer with severe lower back pain that extended down the legs last year. He was extremely compassionate, understanding, and had great confidence with a treatment plan. With physical therapy not helping, Dr. Dryer recommended fusion of two levels in my lower back due to no disc/bone-on-bone situation. The initial fusion recovery was a bit of a challenge, but within weeks I felt amazing, like a new person! Dr. Dryer and the staff have extreme passion for what they do in the improvement of the lives of others. I truly encourage anyone suffering with spinal/back pain to consult with Dr. Dryer. Even though our insurance was being difficult, he never gave up working with them on several phone conferences to get an approval for my treatment. Dr. Dryer has such genuine care of his patients having a successful treatment!

When I first met Dr. Dryer his first words, as he was reviewing my MRI images were "HOLY S$IT". That's when I knew he was the doc for me. His is no nonsense which I appreciate. If you need to be coddled he's not your man. If you want a straight shooter who doesn't mince words, he's your guy. I had an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion. He told me exactly what to expect post-op and it was accurate. Totally uneventful recovery. His staff is also awesome. I highly recommend Dr. Dryer.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) indicated lumbar surgery is required. Laminectomy L4/L5 and spinal decompression surgery are performed. During the procedure a complication develops, not reflected in the MRI. The problem is identified, corrected and the operation is completed. During multiple office visits, the staff continues to be friendly and professional. Being 66 years old, my post op progress continues at a steady pace. Whatever choice you make, my hope is your experience is also positive.

Great Doctor/staff ever; If you have any issue with any of your spines, Dr. dryer is the one who you need to go to. I was in a lot of of pain when I called to get an appointment. This was the time that I couldn't use my right hand at all. I couldn't sleep for almost a month, couldn't sit, lay down, or go to work. Dr. Randall's team squeezed me in two days. After reviewing MRI, Dr. dryer told me that I had a herniated disk on my neck that putting pressure on my nerves; therefor, I needed an urgent surgery. They squeezed me in two days for surgery. I needed authorization and second opinion for my surgery but his staff did a great job on getting authorization and preparing the documents in a way that i didn't have to wait for the second opinion. I had my authorization next day by noon. I was in his office on Wednesday morning and by Friday afternoon out of surgery room without having any pain; not even a little bit.

Dr. Dryer recommended non-invasive treatment first. Since it didn't work I opted for neck surgery, which Dr. Dryer performed. It was a success and I now have no pain and full range of motion. I required very little pain meds after surgery. His staff is very friendly and professional. I highly recommend Dr. Dryer.

Dr Dryer is a magician. I had debilitating pain in my left leg from a slipped disc and spinal instability at the L5/S1, which completely squished my L5 nerve root. I literally could not walk! Dr Dryer saw me on a Monday and I had surgery on that Friday. I walked out of the hospital the next day pain free! I had a spinal fusion and laminectomy. My mother had the same surgery 9 years ago and thanks to Dr Dryer, she has been pain free ever since! Dr Dryers staff is one of a kind. Super efficient, kind and as smart as they come. We loved his PA Vanessa, and all of his surgical team as well. I can not recommend this man enough! For anything spine related, he will fix you!!

I really appreciate Dr. Dryer. He did my lumbar surgery a few years ago and it was successful so I returned to him after a neck injury. He just recently performed my neck surgery. I wish I had gone to him sooner. I'm well on the way to feeling like myself.

Dr. Dryer has used comprehensive assessment tools and analysis in determining the cause of my neck pain and the best course of treatment for my neck issues. He is attentive to my concerns and makes sure that I understand all that he is explaining. His professionalism, coupled with his calm demeanor, inspires trust and confidence. The support staff in Dr. Dryer’s office are as sincere and as professional as he is. They are always welcoming and seem to remember each patient that enters. Accommodating my schedule to allow for the least amount of time off work, has been a priority for the staff. There is nothing negative to say about Dr. Dryer or his team. I drive at least an hour and fifteen minutes each way (longer with bad traffic) for each appointment and would drive further if I had to!

Dr. Dryer, and his staff, went above and beyond the call of duty regarding insurance, pre-op and post-op. I had exhausted all forms of treatment regarding my spinal issues and feel like I've been given my life back free of pain and pain medicines. Very thankful and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr. Dryer to family and friends.

Dr. Dryer and his whole staff are wonderful. My wife had surgery and Dr. Dryer went out of way to his way to help navigate the insurance issues we had. Treated us with kindness and respect, explained the surgery both before and after. His staff seemed to go out of there way to make sure my wife was comfortable and knew what was going on and what to expect. I would highly recommend Dr. Dryer. A true professional with a heart for healing.

I have been in the army for 15 years now, with multiple deployments. During that time, I have suffered from a misdiagnosed ruptured disc in my neck, as well as my lower back using Army doctors. I researched Dr Dreyer online, and found that he has specialized in spinal surgery since 1977, longer than I've been around! I met with him, and he ordered his own mylogram, which showed the severity of my issues were much more than " mild to moderate degenerative disc disease" . He agreed to do a fusion of my C5-6, C6-7 vertebra, and the surgery went great. I have range of motion, my left arm no longer tingles or is numb. My neck has NEVER felt better. Take it from me, this man will change your life for the better!
