DR Kumar help change my life for the better. He was very detailed and explaining what was causing my pain and what needed to be done in order to make it better. i was walking bent over for 1 year and 7 months in very severe pain. From a failed surgery by Dr Mark Greenberg who use to work for the Tampa VA. I was told by Dr. Greenberg the reason that i had severe pain was because i had muscle spasms. But that was a lie Dr Kumar showed me on my lower back ct scan i had crushed nerves and scoliosis, 2 broken screws and a rods that was separated from the locking pin. He was there for me before after the surgery along with Dr.Small from the Florida Orthopedic Institute. Im able to walk straight up now and able to care from myself without needing total care from my wife.. I also owe my life to Dr. Kumar at the main hospital in Tampa and the quick actions of the surgeon at St. Joe's South (Dr. Katz) for making the decision to fly me so fast to St. Joe's main. If I can show pictures here I would, in the condition that I went into that hospital. I had a 15% survival rate on my stroke (brain bleed) and I'm only 44 years old. Dr. Kumar got a call from a non-trauma hospital (South) where they first took me and with no hesitation he said bring him to me, I will take him. So they air lifted me to him. This doctor with his hands figured out a way to save me and bring me back to my four children. I will always be in debt. Dr. Kumar saved my life. He is the best surgeon I have ever met. He took the time to explain to my wife and I, the entire procedure that had to be done. Throughout the time of my surgery and recovery he was in constant contact with my wife. He is Extremely compassionate. This is the of surgeon you want to go too.

Dr. Kumar done my neck fusion in 2012. Amazing difference after surgery. I highly recommend him to anyone. Worth the drive.

Great neurosurgeon

I was amended to Tampa General your ago when I met Dr. Kumar for the first time. The reason for me being in the hospital I was unable to walk my legs will continue to give up. After several test and MRIs. Dr. Kumar suggested the procedure that would be intense but would allow me to walk again. After cleaning up my spinal canal and working on various disk’s that would need to be fixed also. With the help of Dr. Kumar and Dr. Weinstein I was able to get back up on my feet and walking again. Not to say that it didn’t take a while to get things to work but I think without this particular procedure that Dr. Kumar suggested I would still be in the same situation I was a year ago and not walking at all. I would like to thank Dr. Kumar for all his support and help with a great outcome. I would also like to thank Dr. Weinstein from Florida orthopedics for his help for making this successful also. Dr. Kumar is the best surgeon that I've ever been to. Better results than I ever dreamed possible! 5 discs repaired and have 95% range of motion and no pain or numbness! Thank you Dr. Kumar!

Dr. Kumar is an excellent surgeon . My husband, also a surgeon, had heard from other physicians about Dr. Kumar and suggested I become his patient. Dr. Kumar is a truly a caring physician and amazing when it comes to diagnosing your problem and a genius in the operating room.

Very professional and knowledgable. I was referred to him by another neurosurgeon for a second opinion. Dr. Kumar requested a scanner with contrast and decided exactly what my problem was and very graphycally explained it to me.. I highly recoment Dr. Kumar. The only negative thing I can say is that he was understaffed and the office seamed to be going thru a transition.

Good luck dealing with the office staff. Despite his website saying he is accepting new patients, the rude woman who answered the phone asked for my name, then told me he is not accepting new patients. I tried explaining the connection with a friend of his, but she simply said "I'm just following directions. No new patients."

I have heard he is a very good doctor my reason for this review was my experience and in no way has anything to do wit weather he is or isn't . The office staff seemed uninvolved and was generally rude . All my experiences with dr. We're good . But very hard to schedule appt. I didn't feel like he had time to deal with me . On the occasions I did see him he explained things well had faith in him. I'm not sure if the disconnect was the office personal or him . It was almost impossible to see him.
