Phillip R Kingma

I have been coming in for 3 years and find Doctor Kingma to be an honest person and has helped me a lot. His office is very clean and well organized. If you are just looking to get pain medication then maybe not a good place to go, he is too honest. He was rated 5 star but was forced to take over a pain medication doctors patients after he was closed by government for fraud. The people he was forced to take in have lowered his grade. I have seven fused disks, four in neck and three in lumbar. I need to find a great surgeon I might need two more fused. After 8 years on pain medication and injections it might be time for more surgery. Thank you, Chris Lindner

Dr kingma is one of the kindest doctors I have had in my life. I live 3 hrs away from his office and drove most of the night in extreme pain. He took me in at 6:00 am in the morning and injected me. Helped me with medication and called my room in the hotel to check on me. This doctor is not afraid to show his Christian belief. And that made me feel at ease before the procedure. TERRIBLE bed side manner.

Staff is horrible. They never answer the phone. The return calls when they do takes days maybe even longer. Carmel office waiting room so small a wheel chair barely fits for people who are handicapp and wheel chair bound. A lady at the Shadeland office wanted to debate how many times I called the office instead of actually help me get an appt and meds for my 85 yo grandmother whom was in pain. Providers are ok...appts are pointless 15min just to ask the same 3 questions and send in a script. Staff is horrible. They never answer the phone. I was Dr. Levine's patient. Since he is now only practicing a few days each month, I elected to see Dr. Kingma for my neck and shoulder pain. I've been treated very nicely by his office staff. I don't know if there have been changes or not in the staff from the time negative reviews were written, but my experience has been great with the staff. Nursing staff has also been great even helping me to a chair when I was dizzy. Dr. Kingma has been nothing but terrific. I'd give them 5 stars, but I'm still undergoing treatment and am comparing to Dr. Levine. When I finish my treatment, I'll provide another review. So far everything has been great! Wonderful! I am a fairly new patient of Dr. Kingman, and he has already improved my mobility and relieved my back pain. For the last 3+ years, I could not stand straight and walk because of the pain in my back. Dr. Kingman is changing all of that. He is personable, informative and goes to great lengths to explain his diagnosis and procedures to correct issues. I feel greatly blessed to have found him.

I waited until I had my mother set up with a new Dr before unleasing my rage at Dr Kingma and his staff. Now to be the most fare his staff is the problem. And Dr Kingma can't see it. But he has issues too, issues on how to treat the family members who have full power of attorney rights and not as dumb and wimpy as his thinks. He met with.me in an emty pateint room when I was down in agony and pain with high blood pressure and a horrible migraine head ache. At the time of the incident, I was in so pain, I wanted and expected his nursing staff to take over my mother's care as she went to the bathroom to give a urine sample. They expected me to do it all and by law no one but the pateint and or the Dr for nurse should be in the bathroom with her. The staff was being rude with me and would not take over my mother's care as they should. I spoke out about it and out came Dr Kingma saying g I was committing a HIPPA violation. That's when he directed me to the pateint room. There in pain with a migrain from high blood pressure I had to sit and take him i sulting me just to insure my mother got her prescription. I had to put my mother first. And that day I was in no condition to fight with him. The issue with his staff had been a light but ongoing problem. It reached a point that day that we had to find another Dr because one of staff girls just would not let a small issue go. She kept pushing and pushing it to the point where I spoke up, but to Dr Kingma it was all my fault. My mother is 81 with a broken neck and crumbled spine , I'm all she has to take care of her. My job is to insure she goes to the doctors on time and her meds are filled and taken on time. His office staff screwed up a refill. I told them not to let that happen because my mother is in no condition to go through withdraw. It was not a simple screw up it happened over a weekend with no way to fix it in a timely manner. I told her I would find another Dr if it happens again. I did not yell at her or cuss her out. If I did not have self control I would have gave them both hell the day his office staff kept pushing it. In fact his office girl was sarcastic over the phone about it when I called to confirm the appointment and the day of the appointment she was making under the breath comments and would not help my mother in the bathroom. If Dr Kingman had listened to my side of the story "as I was also having a migraine headache from high blood pressure" the day she pushed the issue, perhaps it could have been resolved in a professional manner. Instead he chose to talk over me not allow me to explain the situation and made me feel belittled all as I was suffering from that migraine headache. He needs to put his patents first over his staff and fire that girl. He told me it was all my fault (when he had no idea what the whole story was because he would not let me tell him). He said that his staff "does not get Hazzard pay". Well Dr Kingma I do not get paid anything at all for the 24/7 care I give my mother. Treating me badly is the same as treating her badly. Dr. Kingma's office staff is clueless. The check in girl did not know the office wifi password. When you call the office, you can't get to a live person, ever! The nursing staff is very rude! You will never get a return call from them. Dr. Kingma and the Nurse practitioner don't seem to communicate with each other. My husband had a procedure done and when he questioned Dr. Kingma (because it did not go like the NP explained to him) the doctor accused him of lying. Dr. Kingma's office staff is clueless. Has anyone been able to reach a live person or received a call back from this office? If you're a former patient of CPS who was referred to this office, I've opened a closed Facebook group to try and connect with other former patients. I called this office because I have a contagious flu. I was not certain until I awoke with chills/fever/etc., today. Office policy is 48hr cancellation or you are charged w/a fee. My appt is tomorrow. I have cancelled appts at ev other medical service before today due to being sick & contagious, & thanked for not coming in ill. Not this office. I was past the deadline. I must pay a fee to reschedule & keep staff from catching my illness. Cannot afford it, so good luck staff. I tried.

My wife got the runaround for over 10 years before finding Dr. Kingma! Since working with him, her quality of life has improved 1000-fold! Her back will never be perfect but at least now she can enjoy life again!

I had gone to Dr Kingma seeking treatment for the underlying cause of my pain. I had to cancel 2 procedures. The first because Medicaid transportation cancelled at the last minute. The second time because home health aide who was supposed to go with me was terminated from my case. I had appointment scheduled 12/28/17. His staff told me to not come in even though I was on morphine and they did not give me enough time to find new doctor. I had cost them too much money. As a R.N. (disabled) I opted to do a rapid weaning off morphine. I did have my Prmary docs approval and supervision. Off morphine. In pain but less than what I was in on morphine. In a 2013 study by Salter some of us have the opposite reaction to morphine. While I hold his Chritianity suspect and what they did was unethical immoral and probably illegal it has been a Blessing in disguise. I absolutely love Dr Kingma. I know he has had some staff members, over the years my husband has been in his care, that have been down right rude and I did not like. We have not seen any of those people for awhile. I love the fact that he doesn't just shove pain medicine does my husbands throat. He truly tries to find and fix the cause of all his pain. If I could give this place a negative rating I would... If its not the insurance not wanting to approve something its the office staff not doing their job. OMG........I literally have been able to rise up off my bed with a previous life of musculoskeletal pain that 800mg of Ibuprofen could barely touch....after working with the skills and depth of knowledge of Dr. Kingma and his staff, I am living a resurrected life of planning vacations with little reservation...the feelings of hesitation are gone because my issues involving pain have been effectively dealt with......I am grateful and say, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!???????????? A

Dr. Kingma has a great bedside manner. I've worked in healthcare for 40 years and have worked with a lot of doctors. He is very kind and re-assuring and you can tell that he cares. His Nurse Practitioner is also very nice and you can tell she cares. I am so happy with the care I've received at his clinic.

The office is poorly run. Calls for assistance, even when you are having difficulty with a medication, are not returned. Requests for Prior Authorizations not done. I have called the office at least four times, spoken with the nurse regarding a reaction to new medication and never heard back. This is not the way to take care of patients on strong pain medications. I decided to go back to my family doctor and the meds he could proscribe. Not worth having to drive 40 miles for this.
