He's very quick to respond and helps with not only medicine but good behavioral strategies. He will listen to parents input and integrates parents ideas/plans into treatment. Very concise in visits if needed and easy to talk with via teleconference.

He was my child's psychiatrist for 6 months. At first we had billing issues, which I resolved with my insurance, then we started to have issues with communication. Every month it seemed like he was getting more agitated with us & our case, which lead us to seek another provider a few days ago. We were able to secure an appointment with the new provider today, so we immediately contacted Dr. Shain to inform him & thank him for what he has done in the past 6 months. His reply back was "Please get new scripts from them for all medications rather than getting refills under my name." Yeah, we will definitely being doing that with our new provider since we just got an appointment with them TODAY. I do not recommend this doctor since I feel like he bites off more than he chew. Dr. Shain has been my children’s doctor for about 2 years. He’s provided excellent care. We need more doctors like him!

Dr. Shain helped my teen son with terrible anxiety issues. He was extremely receptive to what we needed for 1.5 years. It is a very tricky process when you are dealing with medication and he was able to help us. He is a blessing and we are much better off because of his knowledge and care. We are forever grateful.

Our family has been seeing dr. Shain for 22 years (twenty two). He is an extremely compassionate professional. Dr. Shain always takes the time to listen. Goes out of his way to accommodated our schedules. There where several times over the years when we had some urgent issues that required immediate attention and he made sure he would make the time to see us, even before crazy holiday schedules. Never had an issue and strongly recommend this highly professional specialist.

Dr. Shain overprescribed medication to our family member and caused addiction issues. Did not listen to side effects. Was very rude and disrespectful. *Please notice how all of his new raving reviews are days apart in 2019 when the bad ones were years apart. Strange that so many patients suddenly recommend him that were seeing him for years! As another poster said, run don’t walk.

Dr Shain has helped our family tremendously! He diagnosed my sons with ADHD and is treating one with the help of medication and one without. My younger son has overcome most of his anxiety with the tools he gave him and us to use with him. Dr Shain Takes the time to listen. He is well educated, empathetic, and uses great analogies. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for help with their children.

Our family was in crisis mode, with our teenage son being diagnosed with Bi-Polar Mania. He required consistent outpatient therapy and medication monitoring. Dr. Shaine was our families saving grace. Extremely professional, knowledgable and also flexible with appt scheduling. His expertise in providing ways for my son to cope with day-to-day issues has allowed my son to be more grounded, focused, thoughtful and responsible. Today, our son is thriving and in a better place mentally then where he was 2 yrs ago. I would highly recommend Dr. Shaine to anyone in need of adolescent therapy care, Dr. Shaine's expertise will provide you with positive outcomes. We keep coming back!

Dr. Shain took on my son’s case when NO ONE else would. He is very patient with me and helps me talk to my child instead of yelling. Please consider him to help..........

I started to see Dr. Shain for my daughter , pre teen, who wrote stories about suicide, not able to have or keep friends, not doing well In school, and he took a lot of time interviewing and testing myself and my daughter, and spent a lot of time explaining the tests and the options available. We have been seeing Dr. Shain for a few years, and I cannot recommend him enough to troubled young people. I am a Registered Nurse, and am knowledgeable about the help available for the community. Dr. Shain is not only an M.D. but offers MUCH experience as a Therapist, a father, and much experience in the acute hospital setting. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. SHAIN.

Dr Shain has been treating my son for almost a year now; on a weekly and every other week basis. Dr Shain has been very accommodating as far as scheduling. My son seems to approve of the sessions and works towards a goal. We would recommend Dr Shain. Thank you.

He sees my son regularly. I have always found him to be very thorough, and pleasant. As well, he is very accommodating with scheduling, and I especially appreciate that when I was in urgent need for my son to be seen, he immediately responded and was willing to see him as a new patient. He has more than adequately addressed my son’s issues and I would definitely highly recommend him.

Both my brother and I have been going to Dr. Shain for years. He asks the right questions and his manner of going about things is very professional. I would 100% recommend him to anyone, especially because if his appointment flexibility and willingness to fit me in when needed.

Dr Shain has been wonderful with my daughter . We have found with his help she has been able to return after a long illness to a normal day to day life . He has gone above and beyond to help and it is much appreciated .

Dr. Shain is great with timely responses and in his practice! He is very knowledgeable in his field and works hard to give his all to his patients. I am very thankful for all the help he has given me and will continue to in the future.

Dr.Shain is one of the most helpful doctors I have ever seen. I started seeing him 2 months ago and since then I’ve seen so much progress on my mental health and physical. I would recommend Dr.Shain to anyone, he is non judge mental, informative, helpful, funny, and he truly cares and wants to help you.

Dr. Shain can be very unprofessional at times. He's made unnecessary sarcastic remarks when I requested less frequent appointments. I've seen him act in a rude and demanding manner towards his other patients. He rarely takes responsibility for his actions. Lacks empathy. Nasty man.

I tried him for my son, he is very Hard to communicate with, over charging/billing clients, not competent, you have many other choices, I do not recommend him at all.

2. That letter was the first indication in all those years that he viewed me as the problem. BTW, my strong will and relentless personality served the advocacy of my son's mental health for years. Philip Shain is certainly my failure. BTW, a little more history: my boys were adopted at 1 and 5 YO from a foreign country, horribly malnourished, left on the side of a road. Both suffer from Reactive Attachment Disorder and a number of other conditions that were never mentioned by Shain.

I was told by a friend "run don't walk" and wish I'd listened. Do yourself and your child a favor and stay far far away. Make your insurance find someone else.

I've asked for my medical records multiple times now and have yet to have them provided to me. Also, as I've come to discover after the fact that one of the medications he took me off abruptly, should have been tapered instead and suplimented with a small dose of something else to aide in avoiding withdrawals. Instead he put me up to a "therapeutic" dose of the new med as quickly as possible and sent me into mania.

He can be helpful with children & families. I was an older patient & found him to be judgmental at times. He had me on multiple medications that made me feel terrible all the time. When I complained to him he'd put me on somthing else, but they were very high doses of each & when I told my physician she said the combination I was on was unusual. Once I stopped taking the medication, you could tell he stopped caring & constantly tried to prescribe me new medications.

My experience with Dr. Shain was awful. Dr.Shain did not tell me or give me a written note on any instructions about taking a new medication he prescribed. When I came back a day later after I started experiencing horrible side effects he blamed me for not listening to him about starting with half the pill for a week. He NEVER told me this and barely apologized. When I would text him questions about my dosage he would ask who I was and then never respond. Unprofessional and no people skills!

Dr. Shain reported me to CPS when I refused to increase the dosage of Abilify to control my son's irritability. The Abilify stopped working after about 9 months and Dr. Shain wanted me to keep on increasing the dosage up to 12.5 mg. I told him that my son is starting to hear voices to kill himself when the dosage was up to 7.5mg. Dr. Shain doesn't listen to feedback and disregard my son's safety.And it was very unethical and reckless of him to call CPS instead. He is very rude and condescending.

We have been working with Dr. Shain for a couple of years now. Dr. Shain has helped us through a very difficult time with our son and continues to provide on going support. Dr. Shain is very easy to communicate with, is always available should we need him and has helped us understand how to work with our son and his disorder in the most effective way.
