Best Doctor ever!!

I have no idea how Peter Matthews still has a license to practice. He's absolutely awful and incompetent. Told me I had a large kidney stone and that he would go in, break it up/remove it and then follow up with me a week later. I woke up from the anesthesia to him saying "No stone." and walking out of the recovery area. Fast forward to that evening and I'm on my floor at home vomiting from the excruciating pain I was in. Paged the doctor on call, who was at a loud club or bar, and was told to go to the emergency room. E.R. scanned me and *big surprise* found the kidney stone still there. Was instructed to go home and wait for it to pass. Well, it didn't pass and wound up getting stuck, so back to the Emergency room I went. Remember, Dr. Matthews was supposed to have removed the stone to avoid all this in the first place. The attending physician called Dr. Matthews to tell him I was being admitted and while he was on the phone, I overheard him making fun of me and mocking me for crying and being in pain. The attending physician made a huge cringe face (she knew I could hear him) and totally understood when she hung up and I asked for the hospital urologist on call to take over my case. The new doctor did a lithotripsy and got the stone broken up so I could pass it without issue. Matthews was a NIGHTMARE to deal with. I would run if you're considering him. If it weren't for Dr. Matthews, I might be dead. After having an A1C of over 12, Doc told me quit, soda, energy drinks, carbs, deserts. Since, my life has been so much better. Couldn't be happier w/him and the staff. TY

Worst doctor I have ever had the misfortune to be stuck with. He makes countless mistakes and is so nasty to the hospital staff. He used to work at Banner, but I'm sure the nurses had him kicked out, as they told me they were doing. If you have kidney stones stay away from him and Mountain Vista.

Met Doc Matthews 3 years ago Thanksgiving in Emergency surgery. Since this my wife and I moved out here, for him to be my Bladder Cancer doctor. Great doctor and man. Thanks Doc! Rod Huber.

As a previous patient shared, both Dr Matthews and Dr. James C Cord are very knowledgeable but they both have an insulting habit of talking down to you and not listening to the patient. Their minds were made up even before listening.

He has a very good bedside manner. He takes the time and explains everything to you. He leaves you time to ask your questions.

Doctor Matthews has been my urologist for 6 years, a cancer diagnosis and at least 3 ( maybe 4) biopsies.He’s the most caring and careful doctor I’ve ever seen. I took my wife to MD Anderson in Houston Texas for over 3 years and she never had the luck to get a Doc as good as Doc Matthews. My case is a tough one. Dr. Matthews is an exceptional physician. He truly cares about his patients & has their best interest at heart. He has been my sisters urologist for the past 6 months. He (and his staff) treated her like she had been an established patient for years. His whole office is the best from the time you walk in the door til the time you leave. They are very prompt in returning calls as well as setting up all appts/tests, etc. I would highly recommend this office to anyone who needs urological care!

So im a 57 year old male who has had a UTI. Had a follow up appointment with with a capable pleasant PA yesterday who took great care of me. But i woke today with a fever and kidney pain and have reason to worry about my kidneys. i also thought it respectful to call them even though it was 6am to at least get their input since i was just there. But Before i got a word out Doc. Matthews: "HEEEEEELLLLLLOOOOO! After "hi Doc" he interrupted me to finish accosting me. Im not trading my dignity.

I see Dr. Matthews once a year for a routine prostate issue. However, he just helped out on a rapid onset kidney stone that presented out of nowhere! He did an excellent job on the stone and I have a lot of trust in his monitoring my prostate issue.

The office staff is absolutely horrible, the scheduling nurse was short, unpleasant and no where close to professional.The only thing to polite she know's is what she might have read in grade school. This staff member has a BAD MONDAY everyday!!
