Dr. Furness did a wonderful job with a surgery when our son was an infant, and unfortunately, he had a different issue when he was a teenager. Going through the process of a surgery as a teen is uncomfortable and overwhelming. Dr. Furness handled everything with a great balance of professionalism, seriousness, and just enough humor to help a teenage boy feel as comfortable about the process as possible. Because of the difficult nature of the surgery Dr. Furness asked another surgeon to consult in order to achieve the best possible results. I trust that Dr. Furness will do everything in his power to ensure as positive of an outcome as possible. The team is helpful and kind. They answered all of our questions, and went above and beyond to work with us on scheduling and navigating financial difficulties - all questions were answered in a timely and concise manner. Dr. Furness did a MACE procedure years ago on my now 12 year old son when he was four. My kiddo suffered from chronic constipation. This surgery improved the quality of his life immensely. I recommend him to any parent living with a child with chronic constipation that is suffering. Thank you for everything!

We knew that our son would have to have surgery a few days after he was born. I am very thankful that we were able to connect with Dr. Furness. She did an incredible job. From our first consultation to our post-op appointment, he was very easy to talk to and made us feel very confident about the procedure and aftercare. Our daughter's urologist for the last 3 years moved to another hospital and no longer see children under age 15 so we had to look for a replacement pediatric urologist. He was recommended. Scheduling was hard and lengthy (not uncommon for specialists). Summary of complaints:- Inaccessible: we were met by his PA (Kelly) and talked to her the entire visit. We were asked to go home until he is ready to see us. He was not on any emergency. She thinks they needed to see more imaging before I could talk to him about my daughter's case. My daughter was hospitalized for a week and earlier this year had invasive diagnostic imaging done by her urologist. It is a very difficult and rare symptom. After waiting a month for this appointment and despite her continued pain, they told us to wait until they can call us back for a new appointment. They could have been transparent about their waiting time or told us he is not able to accept new patients and we would look for another urologist straight away. Not even a brief hello from Dr Furness on a pre-scheduled visit. Poor access to technology: team does not have the tool to see imaging at any other locations other than their Denver office. I was asked to have our daughter x-ray at their preferred location and still they could not see it in their medical office at Adventist Hospital in castle rock. Nurse/PA and receptionist all asked me to bring that x-ray ordered by them to their office via a thumbdrive. Radiologist at the hospital said x-ray will be directly sent to Dr Furness. I couldn't get a direct copy of the xray from radiologists and they told me to go through a process at the hospital's medical records office. That required a voice mail/form to be filled and to pick it up the imaging at their location when they are ready. Nurse, PA and receptionist all said I need to bring this to the appointment because the can only have access to imaging at their Denver office. All other locations they did not pay to get to use technology and appointments at other locations are meant to be just consultation. I have had the luck of smart as well as accessible doctors at first visits who also invested in processes that makes patient's experience much more pleasant. Parents comments disregarded I said to the PA her previous urologist had looked at constipation and put us on a year and a half plan to address that and it had been ruled out last year thus a few invasive tests earlier this year. She said to go back and put her on miralax and chart her daily stools. I recognize this as the common initial remedy given to parents and she might be on auto-pilot giving out advice that did not come from Dr Furness. She failed to register or understand or respect my feedback. Either Dr Furness let her run the show and make decisions on when and who get to see him or he is too busy to be able to check his team's processes. It was a bad call and not the most engaged PA. If you have a one-off surgery you might be ok with bad PA and nurses but if you are looking at a birth defect or a long term disease, relationship of the whole team impacts you. Dr Furness might be smart, he failed in these other areas that are important to me. My daughter had pulmonologist Dr Zeitlin and Anesthesiologist Dr Yaster both very senior and only by referral specialists at national Jewish and Childrens hospitals. My advice to others when looking for a long term Dr, being smart is not the only factor, relationship and accessibility could make a big difference in your quality of life and outcome. If you live in downtown Denver or willing to go to Downtown Denver for every emergency visit or scheduled visits, perhaps this professional is for you. Dr. Furness performed surgery on two of our boys, one of them 2 years ago, another 6 weeks ago. Both experiences were excellent (as excellent as your son having urological surgery can be.) We were confident in his expertise and happy with the outcome. We felt prepared for what to expect for surgery and after care. You’d never know our first even had surgery, and our second is currently healing up nicely. I was seen on time for all appointments and scheduling surgery was smooth. When I had questions post-op, Dr. Furness and his colleagues were readily available. Should your child need urological work, I highly recommend Dr. Furness. Dr. Furness is fantastic! My son was only 6 months old when he had his surgery and Dr. Furness made us feel at ease the entire time. He is very professional, set clear expectations, and did an excellent job. I could not recommend him enough.

Dr. Furness takes great care of us both physically and financially. We used to receive our pediatric urology care at the Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) Urology Department. For an annual renal bladder ultrasound and doctor's visit, they would charge almost $2000, which included unnecessary charges like a hospital facility fee. We now get our ultrasounds done at an imaging center and then see Dr. Furness for a for a very reasonable fee. He provides the same level of care and expertise of a Children's hospital urology office, but at a fair and affordable price.

Dr.Furness is the kindest and most professional doctors we have ever seen! He thinks for you, he removes your concerns, he has done a perfect job for my little boy’s surgery!! We are so thankful for him!!! Choose him, you choose worry-free! A true great doctor with a great heart!!

Excellent bedside manner! We had a wonderful experience with surgery on our 6 month old and would recommend this physician to anyone that wants top notch care from the initial consult, surgery, and then the follow up visit. Deb (front office) and Lindsey (PA) are wonderful as well!!

My 14 year old daughter has experienced a lot of health issues for most of her life. Dr. Furness skillfully removed a large renal cyst and she's never felt better. His bedside manner was casual, approachable, and yet extremely professional and knowledgeable. He is an expert in his field and I would highly recommend him for urology issues. It’s never easy to have your child undergo any type of surgery, however, Dr Furness made the entire process as easy, convenient and quick as possible. He was so thorough and supportive during each appointment, day of surgery & follow up. We were so pleased with our experience with Dr. Furness and all of his staff! He came to us highly recommended by our pediatrician and we were not disappointed. Everyone was professional, kind and patient in explaining what to expect for our baby's surgical procedure and recovery. On the day of the surgery, everyone at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children was very helpful and considerate of us and our baby. Everything went very smoothly. Their instructions on what to expect post-surgery and how to take care of our baby were spot on. This was extremely helpful as we went through the following week. We would recommend Dr. Furness and his staff to anyone needing urology consultation and treatment.

Dr. Furness and his staff are wonderful! My situation was unique in needing surgery for my 6-month-old foster child. Deb (front office), Lindsey (PA) and Dr. Furness were able to get the consents done prior to surgery and provided a top-notch experience. My child did wonderful and was back to himself within a few days. Thank you so much!!!

We'd highly recommend Dr. Furness! He performed surgery on our 3-year-old son who we had adopted at 2 and a half years old. He has many fears associated with doctors and hospitals but Dr. Furness was amazing with him! The surgery and recovery went smoothly. We're very thankful!

We had a great experience with Dr Furness. We were referred to him from our Pediatrician. He was able to immediately diagnose our son and sat down to answer any questions we had about it. Dr. Furness was very knowledgeable and made us feel 100% comfortable with our sons procedure. He really took the time to help us understand the procedure and visits were quick and to the point. Surgery day couldn’t have gone better. Highly recommend for urology needs.

Dr. Furness corrected my son's hypospadias when he was six months old. He is now almost five, and we are so happy with the results. You can't even tell that he had one. We are so glad that we went ahead with the surgery when he was little. I would absolutely recommend him!!!

Dr. Furness seems fine, but his staff are inept and rude. After bungling two appointments (wrong times, neglecting to contact me about upcoming visit times) they put the onus on me to determine who I spoke with at their office as though I should be logging every call. Why should I need to concern myself with whom I am speaking within the office? Shouldn't they oerate as a team?
