Dr. Peter J Costantini

Dr. Constantini is a good doctor. I have had no problem with him. However, his nursing assistant, Bonnie, is less than helpful, rude and does NOT listen to you when trying to talk with her. I left a detailed message about what it was I needed from Dr. Constantini. She called back, asked me what I wanted and then kept asking me questions I already answered. So I took a deep breath, and began explaining again and she hung up on me. I did not yell, raise my voice or even say anything rude, which I wanted to say- are you not listening. When you have sleep apnea, and your machine keeps shutting off many times throughout the night, you need help. When the company he refers you to, American Home Patient, wont call back after a month of trying to get them to sell you a new machine, you need help. Why Bonnie does not understand when you are frustrated, when you have spoken to her for the 3rd time since initially calling and getting nowhere, is beyond me.

I’m a retired RN with 45 years of past experience, and I am more than pleased with the care I get from Dr.C. I am also very fond of his staff, and particularly his nurse Bonnie. I feel like I can count on them to manage my breathing issues into my ongoing years.

My mom has been a patient of Dr. Constantine’s for the past 2-3 years and has never had a good experience. Due to her declining health, I have been accompanying her to doctors appointments for the past year or so. During my first visit with mom to see Dr. Constantine, we waited nearly an hour to be seen. This is of course not uncommon in today’s medical offices so there was no complaint on our part. When he did finally enter the room he spent another 10 minutes typing something into a computer without even acknowledging our presence. During the actual “exam” Dr. C began directing his conversation and questions directly to me instead of acknowledging my mom as the patient. I actually stated to him at one point that I was not the patient to which he responded Yeah I know. Furthermore he offered no possible diagnosis or differentials only ordered repeat testing. Today’s visit was supposed to be the visit where he would go over those test results. I say was supposed to because we were 10 minutes late so Dr. Constantine refused to see my mom today. No matter that she has been having trouble breathing for the past 5 months which causes her to be lethargic and move more slowly. No matter that we commuted 40 minutes to the appointment. No matter that we waited patiently for 1 hour the last time we saw him. No matter that he was unable to tell my mom what a nurse figured out 2 months ago (that fluid in her belly is her issue not her lungs.) No matter that he treated her like an ignorant old lady the last time she visited with him. MR. Constantine you are not worthy of treating my mom for a hang nail let alone any sort of lung disease. My recommendation for anyone reading this is find a different pulmonologist. Do not settle for a Dr. who treats you like less than a human being just because you are a senior and have become ill.
