Can't understand why a place that I pay would allow the lady up front "Crystal" to be so rude and nasty to the patients. Horrible place, just go ahead and look for somewhere else.

I think Dr. Coleman and Lauren are great, unfortunately I will not go back to that office. The front office staff is TERRIBLE. I had an appointment and assumed I would get reminder call -- in case I wrote down the time and date wrong. No such call came. Nevertheless, I followed up and confirmed my appointment. Twenty minutes later, I got a call from the office staff (same person although she said she wasn't) to check me in prior to the appointment. That was when I learned my appointment was via telephone. WHAT?! I needed to see someone about a patch on my leg. I was told, my lack of understanding was due to a miscommunication. Since I needed to cancel, I asked about the $35 no show fee. My question was never answered, in fact, the receptionist hung up before I could ask the question again. I guess it was another "miscommunication". The only reason this review is two stars instead of one is the professionalism of the doctor/nurse. BUT, you have to get past the office staff first -- oh, and they can never get their charges straight. Nearly every time I walked through the door, I was told I owed from a prior visit -- loud enough for the waiting room to hear -- until I proved the error was on their part. Too much drama! Ive been with Dr. Coleman since 2001! His office has always been attentive, informed and innovative. They listen to the patient and take the time to treat the WHOLE patient!

I just wanted to say that Dr. Peter Coleman and his team have been fantastic with my husband and family over the years. As most know addiction is not something that you get over and it goes away and my husband has experienced relapses over the 10+ years that we started this journey with Dr. Coleman's group and each time that we have come back they have been welcoming and treated us with respect and dignity. YES it does cost money but it is worth it to get your life back . When in active addiction you do not mind spending the thousands and thousands of dollars for the drug so we chose to invest in my husbands life and our family to get clean. It is not easy, we begged , borrowed and pleaded but we did the same to pay the drug dealer as well. Thank you again to the Coleman Institute for all you have done to help our family. Dr Peter Coleman doesn't know how to recognize when a Patient is in true chronic pain when it's right in front of his own face!! I went to see him, rather was made to see him from my insurance co, and he told me I had to come off my pain medication and tried to make me and said I had to go to AA, when in fact, I have a very serious and very painful spinal cord disease that he could not diagnose or treat!! Horrible doctor and very arrogant!!

Dr Coleman has been working with me for about 3 months now He’s patient, he doesn’t judge me and he’s not given up on me yet! This man just continues to takes every Avenue he can go down, looking for any doctor from my past he can call, he’s like a medical private eye for me! I’m so very greatful for dr. Coleman, he is finally given me some hope back in mine and my families life? I'm ready to live again thanks to dr. Coleman… And my husbands not to bad either haha

My view on them is they are about the $. Addiction medicine shouldn’t be about $. Have heard from other addicts they can detox you and send on your way. Not good for the whole person.

Excellent staff and treatment center. Very generous and respectful. I would recommend this program to anyone! They support the entire family, especially the patient. The design of this program is amazing with very minimal effects that my husband tolerated without difficulty. 100% recommendation!!!

Excellent physician who clearly understands addiction and how it affects the family!

A GOD SEND! I thank god every day for this amazing place, they work so hard to make sure there patients are sober and the family also feel secure (which is something that makes all the difference). I Love Dr.Coleman, Dr.Joan and everyone else employed here. thanks for being so amazing, you are literally giving people their lives back, the addicts and the families.

Was feeling hopeless about my sons heroin addiction. I've got my son back. Thank you Dr. Coleman and the compassionate staff who is helping our family heal.

Very personable and practical. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Proven ability to treat addiction. Voted top Addiction Doctor in Richmond several years in a row.

They were a fantastic group of people a few years ago when I needed help. But now they treat patients like they are just an annoyance. If you call them for a med refill on your blood pressure medicine or the antidepressants they got you started on, good luck ever getting them to call you back. My last appointment with Joan Shepard was just irritating to say the least. I had a small list of problems I needed to address. As I went through them she got really irritated and said "Wow, I didn't know I was in this for an exhaustive consultation" Most if not all my needs could have been remedied with a cream or a steroid shot, but instead she just wrote different referrals to other places and hurried me out. She knew I didn't have a lot of money since I had just changed jobs, so yeah, all those referrals would have been thousands out of pocket. I'm also pretty sure she was ensuring that I would walk out of there and never come back. Well Joan you got your wish. I wanted treatment using LDN for Hashimoto's. Dr. Coleman is one of the best doctors I've experienced. I'm 49, and had been disgusted with doctors, over the years. Dt. Peter Coleman, and his nurse practitioner, Joan, are always a good experience.
