My wife recently had shoulder surgery performed by Dr Switlyk. She was extremely hesitant at the beginning, but is 100% satisfied with the results post-op. If there is a more kind and caring individual in the business, my wife and I haven't met them, and our primary care Doc is fantastic. A patient of Dr Switlyk's on another web site complained bitterly of the scheduling, and the Doctor was often late with his consults, etc. My thoughts on that, after spending 35 years in the health care business, is: would this patient want to be the person who Dr Switlyk rushed through during surgery to stay on schedule for a consultation? Complications happen. Being the best surgeon requires caring enough not to get sloppy and reckless. Consultations also run long at times, causing a Doc to run late. Answering ALL the questions and concerns can't be predicted between patients. This patient no doubt complains about anyone that keeps her waiting, not once considering the poor quality of care she might receive by being pushy and overly critical. Approx. two years ago Dr. Switlyk did a revision on a shoulder I previously had surgery on which had been continuously painful with very little range of motion, it was a reversal and as I understand, quite complicated. I hardly ever have any pain now and though my range of motion is not fully back it is improved. In my opinion he is a fantastic orthopedic surgeon and I would not hesitate to recommend him to any of my family and/or friends. His office staff is courteous and cheerful and his nurse practitioner was knowledgeable and very helpful in my follow ups. I could never get Dr. Switlyk's scheduler to physically answer the phone. I always had to leave a message and was never called back. Poor customer service. Pity as I heard Dr. Switlyk is a very good doctor.
