Paul Stelzer

Where can I start, at age 42 my family doctor found I had a heart murmur during routine health checkup and referred me to Cardiologist and later found I was born with bicuspid aortic valve and had 4.9 cm Ascending Aortic aneurysm. I then took time to educate myself about the condition and consulted two surgeon at two separate institution and one recommended mechanical valve, the second one recommended tissue valve for aortic position. No one mentioned about the Ross procedure as an option. I set surgery data at the second institution to do bio-prosthesis and went home (OCT 2020). I read a little bit about Ross procedure, the information shows as if it was technically difficult and risky. I then heard the talk of Dr. Ismail EL-Hamamsy and Dr. Paul Stelzer on Youtube and read a couple of research papers about Ross overnight before the surgery which changed my view. Dr. Paul Stelzer did a Ross surgery on Nov 25, 2020 and now I am running 35 miles a week 8 month later (3rd surgeon)

There arent enough stars to rate Dr Stelzer. A true humanist a la Dr Schweitzer with mad skills to boot. Very kind and caring. Gd did something right when he created this doctor. May Gd bless his work forever.

My initial consultation began with him telling me how he lost 5 patients early in his career and what he learned from those cases. That sold me! I was his 534th Ross Procedure patient and I am 4 years out with no restrictions and no medications!

Not only is he a marvelous surgeon, but he is also a kind, considerate doctor who understands the stress that the entire family feels when a loved one is terribly ill and is undergoing a life threatening surgery. He spend an inordinate amount of time explaining what he will be doing during the surgery, visiting his patients twice a day and making sure that everything is coming along once his patient leaves the hospital. Staff cannot say enough good things about this wonderful doctor.

Dr. Stelzer is a genius and a saint.

The best. I would not be living, it has been 2 years now without the his expertise. If you find yourself in this position it has to be Dr. Stelzer, if at all possible. Kind, genuine, gentle and an amazing person.
