This Dr & staff are great

He caused my dad more pain and made his life harder. He is a Lazy hack that only did half the surgery he got paid for. He was supposed to work on multiple vertebrae but only did part of them. He did however do extra that would be necessary for the spinal chord stimulator. Which was not at all part of what he was supposed to do and would not have been necessary if he had done what he was supposed to do. He caused my dad more pain and made his life harder. Don't trust him. He will not do the surgery he's supposed to he might even do extra that is not needed. And he won't care if he leaves you hurting

He operated on my wife's neck, going through her throat. Accidently cut a vocal cord and thyroid. She has had trouble since then.

This dr is very arrogant, didn’t seem to care for my dad at all. Didn’t explain anything and only scheduled an injection for pain, when I asked if that was going to help with his numbness on his legs, he said No! And left. I took my dad to have a second opinion with another dr and right now he is in Emergency surgery list”!!!

Painful but good

I have to say that Dr. McDonough has a wonderful bedside manner. He was very experienced (19 years practicing I think) and knew exactly what to do for my problem. He sent me for injections and therapy first (one year ago) and then I ended up needing surgery after that stopped working. I had a wonderful outcome with Dr. McDonough. Now I am pain free and so happy! I am glad I want to the right person who is very specialized in only complex spine problems. I would recommend him to anyone who is suffering from neck or back problems! I have to say that Dr. McDonough has a wonderful bedside manner. What a wonderful experience working with Dr. Paul McDonough. I am so very glad that our area has a spine specialist of this caliber. I read about Dr. McDonough's training and it is the highest level in the country. I think he is a very personable doctor and I could tell he really cares about his patients. I am so happy I finally got neck surgery! Dr. McDonough was very skilled, intelligent, and kind. I should have done this a year ago! My Internal Medicine Doctor referred me to Dr. McDonough and I am so grateful to him. I would definitely say to anyone considering neck or back surgery to check out his credentials and see that they are the very top tier of medical training. Dr. McDonough performed a cervical spinal fusion for me in 2016. At age 70, I’m back with spondylitis and degenerative L3, L4 issue. I wouldn’t see anyone else! He is thorough and just the best in Abilene.

This doctor is wonderful! He saved me from years of pain. I had a complex problem and he was very caring and knew what he was doing. Pain free finally. Abilene is lucky to have such a skilled surgeon!

We had a bad experience here and will not be back.

First decompression spinal surgery went ok...spinal fusion 6 months ago has turned out to be a nightmare. Pain is worse now than ever before. Left with nerve damage and total numbness in feet and agonizing pain.

Had c5c6 fusion never had any kind of surgery or even been to the dr was very nervous but he made me feel I made the right choice with surgery I will be 1 year out since my fusion thank u my scar in unnoticeable and my recovery wasn’t nothing like I was hearing abot

I went to Dr. McDonough in Abilene after I had surgery by a neurosurgeon (not him) that went wrong. I needed a complex revision. Dr. McDonough handled my case with precision and was able to get me back to work. I no longer have any pain or numbness! I went on vacation to Disneyworld and walked all around for 4 days with no problems. Thank you so much Dr. McDonough! Had back surgery 6 weeks ago and am already relieved of the excruciating pain. Am getting around much better. I love Dr. McDonough and appreciate his direct answers to all my questions. Looking forward to a complete recovery!

I am so very happy I finally had the neck surgery that I put off for too long. Now I don't have any more pain in my arm or hand. My neck has also healed nicely. I have no scar to mention. What a wonderful doctor with a sweet personality! Thank you Dr. McDonough for my life back!

Dr. McDonough did a great job on my back surgery. He removed spurs from my spine and trimmed back a disc. I received great direction for my recovery all the way through physical therapy. Got in before my mom's appointment

Dr. McDonough performed back surgery on me 3 years ago and thanks to him I got my life back! This man is wonderful at back surgery.

Fantastic surgeon! Dr. McDonough exceeded my expectations for a great outcome with my complex back surgery. I was in so much pain for so long. Now I am pain free and so happy. This doctor was not friendly at all and seemed arrogant in his attitude! I received no help for my problem and he did not offer any suggestions as to how it might be resolved. I will not return to this office in the future!

Dr McDonough was amazing! I was in a major MVA and almost died. C5 C6 fusion went great and he is a compassionate and very intelligent doc. Hope I never have to see him for another procedure though lol

I couldn't be happier! Dr McDonough done an amazing job on my back. I have no scar to mention and I'm back doing all the thing i love to do. My surgery was in April 2016.

Dr McDonough and his staff are very professional, friendly and have answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns that I have had. I had cervical fusion c3-c7 and a laminectomy performed and considering how complicated my situation had become I am totally satisfied with the outcome. My only complaint is not being prescribed strong enough pain medicine when I was discharged from the hospital, Luckily, my PCP helped me out.

Dr. McDonough did neck surgery. He was very informative when explaining the procedure. I was having severe pain and could not move my arms. Surgery went great. And continue to have great results.

Terrible experience. Dr Only did half of what he needed to do for reasons that me and my new surgeon can't explain. He did 2 surgeries on me and i got worse each time. When my pain got worse, he did nothing but say "sorry your in pain, ill see you back in 2 months." He sent me home the day that i had the second surgery without pain medication because, and i quote, "i left my prescription pad at the office, just go home see how you do tonight and call me tomorrow if you are still in pain."
