Worst visit I have ever had in any clinic. My medical records are so messed up and flagged now do not trust him for care or to stay in his scope of work.

One in person visit total and it lasted 2 mins max, all telemed visits since then have been less than 5 mins. No time to ask questions and he has never physically examined me, not once, or asked any questions, in 2.5 years. Staying here only because I don’t feel like I have an option. Office staff is super nice as long as you don’t conflict with whatever doc says… they are loyal, it seems. Seems like getting paid is the goal and he doesn’t think any patient should need opiates to manage chronic pain, even though he has to prescribe some. Every patient opinion along with diagnoses from previous providers are disregarded and/or ridiculed. So I get what I need and stay, but I wish I didn’t have to. I’ve never had a provider like this (not in a good way).

This "Dr." doesn't care AT ALL about his patients. He doesn't want to hear your issues, he is the expert, period. RUN SCREAMING FROM THIS QUACK!!!

I went to Dr. Coelho and was told that opioids were the only thing that would work for my pain (crushed spine) but it wasn't an option. When I asked how I could manage the pain he shrugged. I had to find another provider who actually cared about my quality of life and function. My mom went to him and he forcefully tapered her and told her she was an addict. This harmed my mom a lot. Since he labeled her an addict when she tried to get another appointment to tell him the suboxone didn't work for pain he said she was an addict and needed to go to rehab. This is a person who is not an addict and has never been addicted to anything and who was stable on medication for 20 years without incident. She has a verifiable, painful condition which can be clearly seen on imaging. She was trick and then medically abandoned. I went to every appointment with her and couldn't believe what he did. When she refused the label as an addict, he said, When you're in enough pain you'll admit to anything. He is basically a suboxone doctor. This idiot knows nothing of pain nor how to properly treat it. His license should be stripped. What happened to first do no harm? Mental harm is harm, and when you leave most patients in tears for degrading them for WHATEVER reason that IS indeed HARM. Compassion and understanding is missing from his soul. Seems as if he wants to make paperwork easier by "diagnosing" everyone with fibro via the checkboxes and treat them for that vs what their actual longstanding medical conditions really are. Then he wants to put everyone on Suboxone because there's currently no DEA threat to drs with treating people with a drug made for addicts, not people suffering from ACTUAL pain. Wake up. Actually wish this dr and others like him would get a pain wakeup call where they can EMPATHIZE (not just sympathize) with true chronic pain. Then and only then will these type of people understand a tiny portion of what we go through day in + day out 24/7/365 unrelentless PAIN. Save your sanity go elsewhere!

Dr. C listens well and has good bedside manner. His diagnosis was spot on and his treatment was/is too.

Dr. Coelho is the rudest Dr. I have ever had. The first words out of his mouth were "you did this to yourself." I had to have emergency surgery for a ruptured esophagus where I had four tubes, and two stints place in me. I also, have chronic pancreatitis. I'm not sure how I did it to myself. Any he treated me so badly, and made me feel like I was a drug seeker. I went there looking for help, and all I got was humiliated. He said he was a "straight shooter!" There is a way to be direct that doesn't without being rude. Please reconsider going to this man you will only end up demoralized.

What a nasty man. He is also the first argument in opposition of Measure 110, which treats individuals with addictions as humans rather than stupid monsters with a treatable condition. Active addiction does hinder most rational judgement, but it also is painful and traumatic and most people in that situation want a helpful solution. Coelho's punitive and de-humanizing opinions are truely reflected in his reviews. He should try a different profession that doesn't involve the word 'care'. He appears to not be a Health Care Professional.

Had an appointment July 6th at Salem Health. Arrived approx 10 min before our appointment. Filled out paperwork and waited 45 mins to see the Dr Coelho. Asked when we were going to see the doctor. We were told since we didn't arrive 30 minutes prior to our appointment we would have to reschedule. Listened to the voice mail regarding our appointment 3 times and we were not told to arrive 30 minutes early. We were able to get a phone conference the next day. The first thing he asked was what can I do for you? What do you mean what can I do for you? If you would have read the paperwork we filled out you would know. Just wanted to give out opioids or issue a referral for physical therapy guess where Salem Health no thank you. This guy was arrogant and rude. Anytime I asked a question as his wife he would roll his eyes in a demeaning manner. Don't waste your time. Called an in network physical therapist, no referral needed and have an appointment in a few days.

I have never felt more ignored than I have with this physician. He set me into withdrawls from medications even though the CDC recommends to not discontinue opioids suddenly even when pregnant. He refused to treat me for any of my conditions, my spine and disc bulges, or my fibromyalgia, and aid my situation is best served by mental health. He continued to yell at me and threaten me with the FBI that he "works for" after I made a follow up appointment per his request and then called me a drug seeker. This man has absolutely NO COMPASSION for his patients, and would not even look at my previous mri results. He had his mind made up that I was pregnant and deserved no help or therapy at all even after he agreed to treat my fibromyalgia and then refused and threatened me with the FBI.

Similar to several of the others who were treated poorly. Came in to the room told me he was putting me on a narcotic for my fibromyalgia and taking me off another med that was for my OCD. It is the best medication I've been on for OCD. He spent perhaps 1 minute sharing this info with me and then left the room. Did ot ask for any of my history or what worked for me and what didn't.

Very rude individual. Was not interested in my condition, just wanted to end the visit. Complete waste of time.

based on my experiences and after reading the on-line reviews, it is my opinion and that of others that Dr. Coelho, should have his license to practice medicine revoked. No compassion what so ever. He appears to thrive on making patients as horrified as possible. He should be made to answer for his atrocities towards patients in a court of law. For example, I had asked a question that related to pain management, and his response was to be nose to nose with me in a very physically, and threatening, and hostile manner. If there was a way to have a class action suit against this person I would be very content to be part of that action. You can not write a review here unless you select at least one star. His rating should be a negative (-) minus 10 stars. I can deal with these type of problems by going to other providers. The problem that I see is that some body can really get hurt by the actions of this doctor, and for that reason his licence to practice medicine should be revoked.

This guy is a liar. I saw him before and he offered to prescribe a medication, and on this visit he denied that he had ever offered to prescribe the medication. He did offer to start a medication known to be addictive stating would be able to decrease and stop the opioids I have been prescribed for approximately 20 years. He recited a statistic that on the last visit was completely different than the last time I saw him. This guy is not to be trusted.

I spent one minute with the doctor he came in and said that I had fibromyalgia based on a questionnaire he had me fill out. Then he implied that I was seeking narcotics because of their street value and told me that he would not be treating me for anything other than fibromyalgia. When I tried to give him specifics of my situation and my medical history, he interrupted me and started talking about he would only treat me for fibromyalgia. He said that I could try other pain clinics but they would all deny me as well. I then told him that I don’t believe that he cares about me or my situation and he started giving me the runaround about how I shouldn’t be placing wether something works or doesn’t work on the doctors shoulders. He had zero compassion for me. He put me in his fibromyalgia box that reading these other reviews is what he does and shut down any further conversation.

My wife had an appt with him on 07/18/19 and I went with her. She has POTS, dysautonomia, and has suffered two broken ankles and a broken left leg (2016-present). Referred by our primary because he was uncomfortable with her previous pain med dosage of 30mg morphine equivalent. This guy Diagnosed her with fibromyalgia based on the questionnaire and somatic pain disorder. Guy references a recent study in out of Portugal stating pain meds don’t do anything. He would give her suboxone but that’s only for addicts so she would have to say I’m an addict. Asked her why primary wouldn’t prescribe “He’s a doctor. He has a DEA number.” He wants to place everyone in a box and not treat you as an individual. There was a board meeting today with him in attendance and I guess he got checked pretty good. This guy and his staff are worthless. Avoid him at all costs

I'm also surprised by the other reviews, because I have had a very good experience with both the Dr. and his office staff. I have + results from treatment of my fibromyalgia, and will continue to get treatment! They even referred me to acupuncture and PT, something that was never suggested in the past and I find it very useful.

I do not get the bad comments/reviews on here. Dr. Coelho was empathetic to my situation and seemed to truly care. I absolutely LOVE his staff also. He is upfront and does not sugar coat things. I appreciate that and wish more people were like that. It seems to me there might have been some reality checks that weren't appreciated when denial is strong.

I'm surprised at the prior reviews. Dr Coelho & staff were great! They helped me safely taper off Dilauid & Morphine. I couldn't stand the withdrawls so I was put on Suboxone. It is safer & less side effects. I chose to cos been on high dose opioids too long. Its no way to live & this controls my pain just as well. Dr C & staff always very nice to me. Sorry to read others had bad experiences.

Within the first minute of the appointment he 'diagnosed' me with fibromyalgia (which I don't have) based solely upon a check-the-box questionnaire he made no attempt to discuss or go over the answers w/ me. Then told me that he treats fibromyalgia so that would be what he would be treating me for, completely disregarding my actual long-standing and properly diagnosed issues. He refused flat out to continue my long running scripts because they 'are not helpful in treating fibromyalgia'.

This guy is the biggest jerk I have ever met. Claims to care about patients but makes you want to commit suicide with his degrading & belittling comments. If you have anxiety, PTSD, do not go see this fool. I had the biggest panic attack when I left Salem hospital. I was seeing red. This evil loser did not examine or touch me, didn't ask questions, didn't know my history whatsoever yet sat his large butt in his higher than us chair and proceeded to talk down to me & yell at me.

If there was an option to give "0" stars I would choose that, but unfortunately there isn't. I would NEVER send anyone let alone a family member to see him. He is the most demeaning man with zero compassion. My entire appointment was literally him makimg jabs at me and talking to me like I was a worthless piece of dirt.
