Dr Ward had his agenda for the visit and was rushing me out before I could ask my questions/concerns. I don't find the Infusion Nurses very professional/friendly with the exception of Anita. At times the first word out of their mouth is 'What side is your port?'

I only wish I didn't have to give this doctor a star. This was my mother's experience with Ward and his staff. My mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2013. Dr. Ward followed her until 2017. Because Mom decided not to seek treatment if her colon cancer returned this physician told her that he understood as it relates to her age. Mom was 85. But when he added, "Treatment would be a waste of resources," it was all I could do to leave without causing a scene. Waste of resources? I would venture to say that he would not use these same words with someone who lived in Terrace Park, Indian Hill or Hyde Park. Mom doesn't live in any one of those zip codes. Without exception Mom's wait to see Ward was a minimum of 1 hour--and that is AFTER she got into the exam room. We waited for 2 hours to see him on more than one occasion. As far as the staff is concerned they are cold and clinical. No soothing chatter, no warmth, no personalities there. At one point we were waiting to get shown into the next exam room, except the nurse forgot us. I saw her lumber down the hall with her brown bag to go to lunch. Needless to say, Mom was shown to the room quickly when I brought the oversite to their attention. Now Mom has a different cancer and she wanted to seek an opinion for treatment of this new cancer. Maybe radiation or palliation? I called to change doctors. Good luck there. I wanted to see a female doctor and requested her while Mom was in the hospital. I suppose the doctors in that practice are reluctant to see another doctor's patients. So, we're moving on---and I suggest you do too.

My wait time was all together 1-1/2 hours to see Dr. Ward for 5 minutes, blood draw 10 minutes and Prolia shot 15 minutes. I don't think that is efficient use of a patient's time or a reasonable expectation. So if I was at OHC a total of 2 hours.

I have been Dr Ward's patient since May 2018 when I was first diagnosed with Stage IIIB ovarian cancer. I thank God every day for putting Dr Ward and OHC in my life through my cancer journey. I was also in a research program until my cancer recurred. I have gone through two surgeries, 36 chemo treatments and am now on a chemo pill. I have total confidence in Dr Ward and his staff. Every step of the way Dr Ward explained what was going on, what to expect and made sure I was listened to. He always answers my, and my husbands, questions and spends the time needed to make sure I/we understand what to expect. You might have to wait awhile for your appointment but I know if I am waiting it is because he is spending the time needed with another cancer patient. I highly recommend Dr Ward, OHC and their staff.

My grade is incomplete. Dr. Ward is a very nice man, unfortunately his privileges exist at Mercy. I wouldn’t send any customer to Mercy. When I went for my biopsy they had me change in a bathroom. When I went for my PET scan the tech covered only his mouth with his mask. It has been 4 days since my scan,no results. The buck stops with Dr. Ward. There is no logical reason I should not have the results. Today I called your office at 12:30PM. A recording told me all lines were busy. I was instructed to leave my number and stay by my phone that my call would be returned shortly. LOL, it’s 5:30 PM and I still haven’t heard back. I’m a very dissatisfied customer. I’m also certain no one will respond to me. I wouldn’t recommend OHC or Mercy to anyone.

Do not go to this doctor! Very insensitive and cold to his patients. Does not value anybody’s time. My dad waited 2 hours for his appointment which took a whole 15 minutes. Doctor took a phone call in the middle of the appointment and did not read the case file before hand. Not willing to discuss treatment options. Really pushed for the port and said the chemo pills were not an option. Received a second opinion and the pills were a non issue. All in all, not the type of doctor you want when you are going through something as emotionally tolling and scary as cancer. Do not go to this doctor! Very insensitive and cold to his patients. I love working with Dr Ward but my biggest complant is the scheduling that is done for research. I seems like they never get it right. They tell me one thing and a few visits later they tell me something else and I have to make multiple trips to the office sometimes in back to back weeks. I am 45 minutes to 1 hour away due to traffic. Catscans are another issue about scheduling and when one is scheduled I get no phone call just a letter that sometimes I do not get until a few days before. I guess I am just out of luck if I have something else scheduled. If they wait too long to schedule I then have to go to another hospital that is even further away.

I normally do not post reviews, but I felt the need to. I was extremely disappointed in my experience with Dr. Ward and OHC. First I waited over 2 hours for my appointment. (This was the second time I waited 1-2 hours for an appointment at OHC). I could excuse this if it was the only issue but it was not. Dr. Ward tried to push me intr a treatment plan that I was not comfortable with. My type of cancer is rare and I am young. When I brought up questions and my concerns with his plan he tried to scare me into why this was the way to go. This did not address my concerns. Then when I brought up the fact that this would interfere with my long term activity level, he started blaming patients and why their actions cause these effects. He started throwing numbers at me, when I brought up the fact that the numbers he was throwing at me werent true, aid not apply to me. He agreed I was correct and then agreed to run more tests to get my personal numbers. I did not appreciate having to outsmart him to get him to run more tests to find my personal numbers and was trying to push me into a plan without all the information. When he agreed to run the more tests that should have been the end of the conversation. I said I was not going to make a decision until we got the numbers. Dr. Ward then proceeded to tell me how I was wrong for another 20 minutes and that my concerns were all incorrect and continued down his patient blaming mentality. I will not be returning to OHC and Dr. Ward.tment dh I normally do not post reviews, but I felt the need to. I was extremely disappointed in my experience with Dr. Ward and OHC. Dr. Ward is arrogant and uncaring. He speaks at the patient instead of to them-NO BEDSIDE MANNER. He doesn't display an ounce of compassion in his body which makes trips to an oncologist as unbearable as the cancer that inflicted on my father. He seems more concerned with trying out his dry sense of humor or quips in place of answering questions about your loved one. You will wait hours with no respect for your precious time or the fact that the patient is in distress due to the acuity of their illness. GO TO ANY OTHER DOCTOR!!!!!

Dr. Ward took me on as a patient when my medical oncologist retired. I loved working with her, really trusted her, so Dr. Ward had some big shoes to fill. The schedulers said his patients love him and now I can see why. He was prepared for our initial meeting. He knew my history, so I didn’t have to waste time catching him up. He focused very quickly on where I am now, what my thoughts, feelings and needs are. He listened closely because he wanted to get to know me. He answered my questions very patiently and thoughtfully. He took all the time I needed, didn’t rush. While I wish no one ever needed an oncologist, if you do, I’d recommend considering him. Yes, the lobby is dreadful. Yes, they’re slow. Yes, twice they forgot to order my chemo meds, but problem-solved so I could get my treatment. Yes, their billing has been quirky and inaccurate in my case. Yes, the nurses and MAs really do care. But, together, we BEAT CANCER! Dr. Ward took me on as a patient when my medical oncologist retired. I loved working with her, really trusted her, so Dr. Ward had some big shoes to fill. My regular check-up was moved forward by more than a week at my request, to address a problem I was having. The first good news was that I didn't wait long to be shown to an examination room, and Dr. Ward and his nurse, Monica, came in shortly after. He addressed my concerns to my satisfaction. Although I have had two bouts of breast cancer since 2003, I changed doctors a little more than a year ago (which was a very difficult decision), and am extremely happy with Dr. Ward. He is knowledgeable, caring, and has a great "bedside manner." I used to think that wasn't important, but I believe a medical professional needs to form a relationship with his/her patients, and "bedside manner" goes a long way toward doing that. Under Dr. Ward's care, I know I am in very capable hands.

My mother in-law was diagnosed by Dr. Ward correctly but the treatment of her diagnosis was unprofessional and lazy. He had her do the first round of chemo which shrunk the cancer to almost nothing but when he had her take a medication to keep it at its current size she had a bad reaction to the medicine and had to stop taking it. This caused the cancer to start growing again. My mother in-law asked the Dr. about laser removal and he refused to do it saying it couldn’t be done. He then had her do another round of chemo and more radiation which didn’t help… He got kickbacks from her chemo but when he could do nothing else gave up and started ignoring her issues. She sought a second opinion from another Dr. who said they would have been able to remove the nodes after her first round of chemo but it was too late at that point. She could have had 5—15 years of life added to her if this had been done. She ended up transferring to the new Dr. because of the mental and emotional mistreatment from Dr. Ward, of my mother in-law. Always seek a second opinion when it comes to this because some doctors are only looking for the money they can get out of a patient not keeping them alive. My mother in-law died August of 2018 after being diagnosed in fall of 2016. My mother in-law was diagnosed by Dr. Ward correctly but the treatment of her diagnosis was unprofessional and lazy. Slow. Waiting over 1 hour. I went looking for Dr. Ward and found him texting on his phone in an office. When he finally came to the exam room, he had a bad attitude and failed to introduce himself. He hadn't reviewed any of my records because he didn't know the purpose of my visit. After 2 minutes, he answered his phone during my exam and walked out of the room. I then left in disgust. This "doctor" is socially inept and fails to carefully review patient records. Lacks candor, professionalism

My mother inlaw was diagnosed by Dr Ward correctly but the treatment was unprofessional&lazy. After her first round of chemo which shrunk the cancer 2 almost nothing he had her take a medication to keep it at its current size she had bad reaction to medicine&had to stop taking it.This caused cancer 2 start growing again. My mother inlaw asked Dr about laser removal&he refused 2 do it saying it couldnt be done. She got 2nd opinion&that Dr said could have removed the nodes but it was 2 late. RIP 8/18

Dr. Ward has been nothing but extraordinary. He has a wonderful bedside manner, once you realize he has a dry sense of humor. More importantly, HE TRULY CARES ABOUT HIS PATIENTS. He has treated with dignity and respect while answering my millions of questions. He is extremely well informed and knowledgeable about the most up to date treatments, I wouldn't want another doctor treating me. I have put my life in his hands and feel extremely comfortable with that decision.
