April 2022 I had surgery on both hands to correct stenosing tenosynovitis commonly known as "Trigger Finger" on both index fingers. The Surgeon was Dr. Patrick Owens, UM Orthopedics Hand Specialist at UHealth Lennar Medical Center. Dr. Owens had done this surgery on other fingers about ten years ago and they are still working great. The entire clinical and surgical staff were friendly, positive, helpful and made me feel relaxed, confident and comfortable. Dr. Owens took the time to explain my medical condition and the pros and cons of having surgery. He did not push for the surgery and let me decide independently. I had a total torn ligament of the right thumb collateral lateral ligament (dominant hand) confirmed with an MRI and physical examination. The injury, after four months, caused minimal pain (2), and I could have lived like that for the rest of my life but had difficulties in some hand movements, like opening a jar. After removing a tumor in my wrist, and losing mobility, I saw several doctors who refused to operate on me due to the complexity of my case. By the grace of God, I ended in Dr. Owens office. I was not thrilled with having to have bicep tendon repair surgery, but the minute I met Dr. Owens, I knew I was in competent hands.
