Mr. Osvaldo Alexandro Brusco JR.

Doctor Brusco took care of my husband for years, when we lived in Corpus Christi, Texas, from the first time he was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor, and we both have been very satisfied, because Dr. Brusco knew exactly what to do, and that tumor almost disappeared in a month’s time. He also does research in part of his building, is a triathlete, and is very pleasant to talk to. He is a very smart man. My husband’s personal testimony is as follows: Dr. Brusco is an extraordinary endocrinologist. The treatment and care that he gave me were exceptional. And because of that, I’ve never had any more problems with my pituitary gland. It was a pituitary tumor that he treated. When I first heard the word “tumor,” I was very concerned because that’s a scary word. I noticed that something was wrong, and I didn’t have the energy I once had, and I thought it was just because I was getting older and was slowing down. It was greatly affecting my libido, and I assumed that, too, was part of growing older (70’s). Being that I had graduated from the United States Army Medical School, I had very good knowledge of the competency of a doctor, especially of one taking care of me. So when I went to see Dr. Brusco, he examined me, started treating me, and he had me take an MRI. Then he consulted with a urologist, prescribed medicine, and thank God that I no longer have any problems with my pituitary gland. I just can’t say enough about Dr. Brusco, what an exceptional, brilliant and very compassionate doctor he is. I got the feeling that he really cared very much about my health. I felt very confident that he would do everything possible to remedy my problem, and he did.

Long wait to see the doctor, but so worth the wait. The doctor examined my husband(insulin dependent for 20 years)was extremely thorough. My husband was taking 16 units of insulin twice daily along with 2000mg metaformin and A1c was at 10.9. His fasting glucose level was between 285-320 and was limiting carbs to 2 servings per meal, only consuming diet drinks. The doctor set a goal to control his glucose and get him off insulin. I was skeptical. Now, it is two months later and he has lost weight is A1c is now 10.4 feels great no insulin. Dr Brusco did the impossible. I now realize that his long visits are because he takes time to educate and get to know his patients. He is an endocrinologist that is involved in various research studies that keep him current on the newest treatments for diabetics. This apparently has enabled him to be successful with his patients.

Dr Brusco is an extremely good Doctor. Took my A1c from a high 7 to 5.3. Helped me to lose 35 or more pounds. Need a doctor for your type 2 diabetes this is the one.

All 3 stars are for Dr Brusco because he is a great doctor!!! Unfortunately, his staff seems unorganized and need to work on their people skills. They obviously have issues with canceling people's appointments. From 3 stars to 1 star. I've been seeing him for over a year and this office staff just gets worse. I'm in the process of getting referred back to Dr Jacqueline Cohn. She always had a long wait but she's the best and definitely worth the wait. Her office staff was always very kind. She's the one who diagnosed my thyroid cancer back in 2009. Hopefully I can get in.

Ok my concern is, if hes such a great doctor how can people still be seeing him for years. Shouldn't you be feeling much better. If he is treating the Hasimoto/Thyroid, the meds should heal the cells and no more Thyroid problem. I wish to see this doctor who is highly recommended over Miranda

Updated 6-7-22 Since the Doctor started doing tele-medicine appointments during Covid, my patient experience has improved. I am no longer waiting in an office but am at home waiting on a call and not wasting my time. My relationship with Osvaldo is 100 times better. We even have shared interests in swimming and occasionally share a lane at local pools. His encouragement has resulted in loss of weight, improved glucose and A1C numbers and I feel like I've got someone looking out for me now. DR. Brusco is an incredible doctor. I have had serious health issues and took some meds that made my diabetes spiral out of control for 2 years. Dr. Brusco worked closely with me and kept me steady with frequent adjustments to my diabetes meds needed to counter the side effects. Dr. Brusco has kept me healthy for many years. When I first started to see Dr. Brusco my diabetes was way out of control. Since seeing him my numbers have improved drastically! Dr. Brusco knows what he's doing and is very meticulous when reviewing my labs and discussing the results with me at every appointment. I highly recommend him to anyone with out-of-control diabetes. He also caught my high cholesterol and has regulated it. My kidney function has improved as well due to his diligence!

I went to Dr. Brusco because my diabetes was out of control. He directed me to a program where I could learn more about diabetes and he has me on a path where my diabetes is under control. He is very straight forward and nice.

I first saw Dr. Brusco about 4 years ago. My Primary Care Physition (PCP) referred me to nim. My testosterone level at that time was zero. I believe my primary result of that condition was that I was suicidal. Dr. Brusco quickly diagnosed my condition, prescribed medication and cured my primary ill. He has monitored me periodically, changing my dosage as needed to stabalize my condition. Interesting: I mentioned my referral to Dr. Brusco to my other 4 Specialists. Each of them had nothing but rave reviews about him expressing the greatest respect for him and his abilities. I could not be more pleased.

Doctor Brusco is an amazing person. I had been diagnosed with Diabetes type 2 about 15 years ago. I got tired of all of the meds prescribed with not much success and eventually stopped taking meds and stopped the aggravating finger stick. I went about 2 years with no diabetes meds but started some light exercises figuring I could turn the diabetes around on my own. That was not successful!!! I got into a serious relationship with what will eventually become my wife. She realized that my diabetic behavior was not going to work as she wanted me to live a long healthy life with her. She badgered me to see our GP hoping he would refer us to a diabetes specialist. Our prayers were answered when Doctor Brusco accepted my referral. I did lab work with the results showing over 14 A1C. In less than a year Doctor Brusco has gotten my A1C down to 6.7. Doc prescribed an electronic sugar monitor in place of the painful finger sticks. I have been a patient of Dr. Brusco's for 17 years, since my initial Type 1 diabetes diagnosis. He sees mostly patients with type 2 and other endocrine disorders, but I stayed with him because of his patience with me. Compliance and success are always a struggle with type 1, but Dr. Brusco helps keep me on top of it. He will "tell it like it is" even if he's telling me where I need to improve. I always leave his office feeling better than when I came in because I leave with actionable steps to improve my numbers. He's been my doctor through two pregnancies (high-risk because of type 1). His office staff is always friendly and helpful. In-office wait times can be long, BUT it's because you actually see Dr. Brusco and he spends real time with patients answering their questions and being a "blood sugar detective". He's an expert in his field and I trust him. I plan to stay a patient of Dr. Brusco's as long as I can.

I've been a patient of Dr. Brusco for approximately 15 years now. He is an excellent doctor and he was the only doctor to finally determine a diagnosis that no other doctor was able to diagnose for approximately almost a decade when I first started seeing him. He has monitored a brain tumor, prolactin levels and ensures I'm properly diagnosed every 6 months and 3 months when necessary, based on lab results. He is very thorough and adjusts the medication appropriately based on lab results. From the pre-appointment phone calls and emails to ensure that my finger stick records are sent to the coordinating of blood works orders far enough in advance to have ready for the Tele-Med appointment. I have been seeing Dr. Brusco for 8 years now. He is VERY knowledgeable in my condition of hypoparathyroidism. I was taking close to 12-15 calcium pills a day and now down to 4! Insulinitis (Islit), superior clarifying name & abbreviation for type 1 diabetes, I've had it since March 1961, age 5. I've seen Dr. Brusco since September 2013, initially to deal with severe low glucose incidences. He's helped me get rid of those to the extent I've rarely had them for many years. He prescribed a Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM), an Omnipod Insulin Pump, & when it became available, Fiasp ultra-fast-acting insulin. I see him at least once every 3 months, though since Covid-19 broke out in March 2020, the visits are by phone, discussing my latest HbA1c levels (all of which have been 5.6 and lower) & CGM readings. I've appreciated his efforts and am still alive thanks to his helping me minimize severe low glucose risk (as far as practicable given the life-risking nature of Islit requiring precarious exogenous insulin dosing which Islit individuals are 100% dependent on to try to stay alive). Yes, I highly recommend Dr. Brusco to deal with Insulinitis (Islit).
