About Dr. Oliver A Mckee
Reviews for Dr. Oliver A Mckee
Dr McKee is the best subject matter expert in his field. Referred to him in the early 1990’s because after 5 different docs couldn’t help me. He did in the first visit. Reunited with him on my own 2 years ago. Great bedside manner and no long wait times. He respects your time!!!
Knows what he’s doing
It's never fun to have a "mole" removed, esp. from your face. But Dr. Oliver McKee explained the procedure so well and was so caring, calm and gentle, I was completely confident of his care. This procedure was performed when I was 74; in talking with Dr. McKee, I found out that his Father had treated me successfully for acne when I was in my 20's. I would recommend this doctor to anyone, a true gentleman and a son whom I sure made his Dad proud following him as a Dermatologist!

I went to Dr. McKee for some guidance on treating my mild acne. This was my first ever visit to a dermatologist and really the experience was so bad I haven’t attempted to try another yet. I arrived to my appointment and was called back to see the doctor almost immediately so I was very pleased with that. I was placed in one of the rooms and waited about 10 minutes for the medical assistant and doctor to enter. The medical assistant was very professional and polite. Dr. McKee came in, greeted me and asked why I was there. I explained my acne problems and he read over some paperwork. Then he began to make me uncomfortable as a young African American woman. He was making comments to his medical assistant such as “You did a good job for a woman” and “Wow you’re smarter than you look”. The assistant just seemed to kind of shrug it off. It was just really bizarre behavior to me. He then reached up to one of the cabinets and pulled out a tall coffee mug which I could see steam coming out of and handed it to his assistant. Not sure if that was placed there to catch someone stealing or something. While it should not matter my appearance, nevertheless, I had come straight from work as I was employed as a bank teller so I was dressed professionally. I immediately felt like I was being profiled honestly but I did not want to accuse him of this. Dr. McKee then took a closer look at my face and prescribed me a medication that I later found out was not covered by my insurance. It was about $100. I did not order it. The appointment was all of maybe 10 minutes long and felt like a complete waste of my time as I really didn’t get the guidance or acne care I was looking for. On top of being put in an uncomfortable situation. I do not recommend Dr. McKee. I went to Dr. McKee for some guidance on treating my mild acne. I just had the most hilariously awful experience with Dr. McKee and I hope others can learn from my experience. I went into my appointment with my previous medications for acne on hand and explained to him my almost 20 year history with acne. I had discontinued them during COVID (it was a combination of Tretinoin, Clindamycin, and Azealic Acid). I showed him exactly which medications worked for me and requested that he prescribe me them or something similar. He tells me "we can do better than that." I specifically did not want to do "better than that" because these worked for me, but I'm listening. He immediately wants me to go on antibiotics, to which I decline. Dermatologists are moving away from prescribing antibiotics for acne outside of severe cases and I'm honestly surprised he hasn't caught on. I politely decline and let him know I'd be open to them if all else fails, and he did not seem happy about this at all. He ends up prescribing me Nicadan, a non-generic, prescription-only multivitamin that costs over $600 without insurance, and some 6% Benzoyl Peroxide wipes that, for some reason, are also prescription-only and also cost, you guessed it, over $600 without insurance. For those that aren't aware, you can buy up to 10% Benzoyl Peroxide products over the counter at literally any drug or grocery store. The fact that you can even be prescribed Benzoyl Peroxide just goes to show how backwards our healthcare system is. The nurse did give me a few samples of each of these products, however when I got home I realized that all but two bottles had expired in May of this year. Nice. The nurse explained to me that insurance tends to not cover either products I was prescribed so she would be calling "Aspen pharmacy" to get me the "best price". Why even prescribe these if there are so many other proven medications out there that are 100% covered by most insurance? The worst part, though, was when the nurse left the room to grab my samples. Out of the blue, and totally unprovoked, Dr. McKee decided to let me know his opinion on the coronavirus and how America is handling it. He said "boy, this virus, right?" to which I uninterestingly replied with "heh, yeah" because it's August and I'm tired of having this damn conversation. He then completely lets loose and says, "You can't just shut a country down! I mean my grandkids...they can't even go to school!" I am absolutely not getting into this with him right now so I just stare at him. He, for some reason, decides to keep this crazy train rolling and says, "I had H1N1, you know. I was on a respirator!" Another uninterested half-smile and head nod from me. Finally he's pickin' up what I'm puttin' down and he tells me he's "done being political with me" and apologized. I just wanted to say THANK YOU to the receptionist, Jean--friendly, efficient, upbeat, professional, kind. It speaks volumes about the office itself.
Dr McKee was quick, thorough and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this practice. Very easy to schedule an appointment online as well. A+ all around
I've been to a lot of doctors, and Dr. McKee is the most competent and most professional doctor I've seen. And, unlike some other doctors, his staff is professional and nice.
Dr McKee’s office got my daughter in the next day. I was fortunate he had a cancellation. His bedside manner is kind and also caring. He was on time and spent plenty of time making my daughter at ease about her unsightly skin condition. His front desk person was also a breath of fresh air and on the phone. Thank you Dr McKee!

I've been a patient with Dr. McKee for over 30 years and I can honestly say that he's the VERY BEST dermatologist that I've ever seen, by far!! Dr. McKee is a very professional, personable and dedicated Dermatologist who deeply cares about his patients!! I wish that I could give him more stars for this review! Harry T. Herring

Dr. McKee always takes time to answer my questions along with spending quality time to address issues, explain any treatments and talk about preventative measures, if needed. I have known Dr. McKee for several years and have been well pleased.

I have seen Dr. McKee twice and each time he has taken his time with me and explained things. I was referred to him by a co-worker and I am very happy with him.
