Dr. Norma Jeanette Montiel

Made two appointments as a new patient, didn't make it to check-in either time bc they messed up scheduling. Found another derm in their office waiting room.

Dr. Norma Montiel is amazing. She has the BEST bedside manner and made me feel so much better minutes after talking to her. She's extremely knowledgeable and so kind. I am so glad I found a dermatologist that I love! The office was nothing but helpful.

Doctor Montiel is great. The staff is not. The front desk personnel always seems to process my insurance incorrectly. I had to deal will their billing person who is RUDE and unprofessional. They refused to run my active insurance and keep sending bills to my house. Not going back because the staff can’t do their job properly

Dr. Montiel is wonderful and knowledgeable as a doctor. As another reviewer said, the staff is not. They are immature and rude. When asking a simple question regarding scheduling or billing, I get the response of "not my job/I don't know/call later". The staff also doesn't like answering the phone. Frequently get put on hold for a good 15 to 20 minutes. Very unprofessional. Speaking with the office manager is also a waste of time. She gets defensive and hostile. I asked her why I got put on hold for over 15 minutes to just schedule an appointment, she said to use MyChart to make appointments. I guess Dr. Montiel's staff doesn't like to interact with people. I have never been to a dermatologist but I don’t think this is the way this works. I was referred to her by my pcp and had to wait a month to see her. I have a skin tag on my neck from my pregnancy and other spots I wanted checked out. As soon as she walked in, it seems as she was rushing to get out the door. She literally saw me for maybe 3 minutes. She told me that I would need to schedule another appointment for the skin tag removal and that I would need to pay $75. Also, she told me that I wanted my entire body checked, I need another appointment and that should be a 5-7 minute exam. I’ve never felt so rushed by a doctor in my life. I have been taking my Dad to see Dr. Montiel, for a few years now. He has chronic skin issues. She is always pleasant & professional. She explains what she will be doing, takes pictures & calls us with biopsy results as soon as they're in and explains options that we have to follow up. Very happy with Dr. Montiel's office & staff.

Great Doctor, helped with all my issues. I did not have a problem with the wait time. I was brought in within 10 minutes of my arrival. Staff is friendly. Office is clean.

She over books and keeps you waiting for excessive amounts of time. I waited over an hour today for her tell me she wouldn’t give me a full body examine (the appointment was for just that) because she didn’t have enough time. She made the nurse tell me no. She wouldn’t even talk to me herself.

Wish I can give them 0 stars, never ever tried this dermatology office before, ever! Dr.Montiel has incredible knowledge, bedside manor, and works together with patients. She makes sure her patients understand any information she has to share and also listens to her patients. She is consistent, helpful, and not an alarmist!

Long wait in waiting room (almost one hour). I was very upset because the waiting room is small and considering we are in the middle of a pandemic, the waiting room was too crowded and the wait way too long! When the Dr. came in to see me, she seemed pleasant, but very abrupt and did not do a thorough skin check. I felt like the whole experience was a waste of time & money. I’m sorry I did not read reviews before my appt. Please note, she is a DO, not an MD. Had I realized she is not an MD, I certainly would not have used her.

She runs her office like a factory. She is very quick when you FINALLY get in to the exam room. I spoke with the office manager after having to wait more than 45 minutes on my last visit--she is consistently late. The office manager suggested I take the first appointment of the day and I said great "then I won't have to wait" the manager replied that wasn't guaranteed because they book 4 patients for the same time slot. Obviously Dr. Montiel does not want to wait for her patients but it seems to be perfectly acceptable for her patients to wait for he.

The waits are long but Dr.Montiel has helped my acne problem more than the past 3 dermatologists I’ve went to the 5-10 past years. Definitely recommend!

Make an appoint for 2:15 get to my appoint 15 min early and told I don't have an appointment then told she made a mistake and that I do have an appointment have a seat. 55 minutes later I ask whne I will be seen and told there are 3 patients ahead of me. NO THANKS! DON"T USE THIS PRACTICE.

Waited 1.5 hours to see the doctor after I complained the front desk staff. Staff knew that there was delay but nobody mentioned when I checked in. Dr. Monticello's finally saw me, and it was so rushing although there was nobody scheduled after me (I found out from the front desk staff after my apt). I told her that I don't want to use steroids from my previous side effect, and she still prescribed me a steroid cream. It was very clear that she wasn't listening to me at all!!

I guess the other reviewers must have seen her evil twin; the Dr Montiel I saw was pleasant, thorough, & knowledgeable. Gave me a real good looking over, found a few areas of concern and addressed them to my satisfaction. I'm going back in two weeks for followup with no reservations. Works for me!

Having had a skin cancer a few years ago I make sure to get a full body checkup regularly. I've seen 2 other dermatologists, both who did a thorough look over, asked appropriate questions, gave advice. Dr monteil spent 5 minutes, left parts of my body unchecked, and was out the door w/o speaking to me other than to say I looked "okay". I was too stunned to speak. Abysmal. Nothing about when to return, never asked if I had questions or concerns. Really, just not good!

Dr. Montiel treated me for a recurrent rash. She did a thorough exam. Even did blood work. She listened to me and answered my questions. She was attentive and respectful. I would definitely recommend Dr. Montiel!!

I have been a patient of Dr. Montiel for several years and have found her to be thorough in her examinations and explanation of results, professional in the doctor/patient relationship, and genuinely concerned about my health. Her most recent examination revealed a potentially serious condition that she resolved promptly and effectively to my complete satisfaction (and relief!). I recommend Dr. Montiel to all who ask!

Went to see Montiel for the first time in March 2016. After seeing her reviews online of her poor bedside manner, abrupt exams and rush out feeling, and she's not an MD, I still decided to give her a chance. I should have listened to the reviews. THEY WERE SPOT ON! Montiel hardly looked at my condition. She said that I was ok, shook my hand then walked out. The nurse followed her out. I was left there on the exam table thinking...what just happened here??????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!
