Dr. Norbert J Liebsch

J'ai été traitée par le Dr Liebsch en septembre 2001 pour un chondrosarcome à la tête. Cela fera 20 ans cette année! Je pense souvent à ce médecin exceptionnel, unique, attentif, chaleureux et irremplaçable! Malgré certaines séquelles, perte d'audition de l'oreille gauche et une légère vision double de l'oeil gauche, je vais très bien et je suis totalement autonome. Je suis suivie au CHUM à Montréal à chaque année et j'espère être définitivement sortie de ce cauchemar qui a envahi ma vie et celle de mes précieux amours. J'aurai 60 ans ce 1er juillet 2021 et ce que j'aimerais m'offrir pour mon anniversaire, c'est de revoir Dr Liebsch! Il faut garder espoir! Chantal Dupont Varennes, Québec

Dr. Liebsch treated my skull-base chondrosarcomas 20 years ago. The treatment was a success in terms of halting their growth. I do have substantial hearing loss, double vision, and trigeminal neuralgia as I believe he said could occur years after treatment. Follow-up care was excellent for the first ten years or so. Since then, it has been nearly impossible to get an appointment. The side effects didn't kick in until about 12 years post treatment. Since follow-up hasn't been available, I'll never know if he could have done anything to abate the side-effects. In addition, I think his message to current and future patients about the side-effects may be somewhat favorably skewed. I wish I was Dr. Ernest Ross and could just "stop by for a visit." Mere mortals (non-MDs) aren't afforded that possibility.

Best Doctor Ever.

In the Fall of 2005 I had a 14 hour surgery at NYU in NYC to remove a tumor from the upper part of my spine, a very rare Chordoma. After many consultations with Doctors in New York, it was determined that I needed to proceed with Proton radiation. At that time there were few options in USA. We went to Boston, the nearest center to consult with Dr. Liebsch. After several screenings, I was accepted to the program. A blessing and a life saving event. I am still alive. Bless you Dr. Liebsch! Alive!!

Dr. Liebsch treated the Chondrosarcoma at the base of my skull with proton therapy. I was faced with a second surgery or proton therapy. Choosing a cancer treatment is never a simple decision. But Dr. Liebsch helped make my decision a confident one. He spoke with me on the telephone at 9:30 pm, making sure I understood everything. He is patient and kind. The folks who took my initial MRI said they call him the "miracle worker." That's an understatement!

I've been treated by Dr. Liebsch for a rare cancer, chordoma, with Proton Beam radiation, photon radiation, and stereotactic radiation. He has always been generous with his time, allowing the patient and family/friends to ask questions. Most appointments lasted 1 to 2 hours, and that was being in the room with him. He is very upfront and honest when discussing the medical case. He's gone above and beyond what any other doctor would do countless times, and that is coming from a nurse.

Dr. Liebsch supervised my proton-photon therapy in Boston for several months in 1997 following surgery @ M D ANDERSON CANCER CLINIC in Houston, TX. I can't imagine a physician being any more caring and helpful than he was over my entire treatment period. That was nearly 20 years ago and I always stop by for a visit whenever in the Boston area. I'm very fortunate at 84 years of age to have survived skull base chondrosarcoma, especially with the bonus of not being on any medications at my age.
