Looking for a plastic surgeon to perform a breast reduction, I went out for 3 opinions. Dr. Collins was the 2nd opinion and by the time I left his office I was in tears. During the exam he said, the reduction mass would be large enough that he would have to remove the nipple and areola and place it back in the correct location and that it would be for looks only, but not functioning. I questioned him on this statement and he responded by saying that not only would he not be able to save the nipple and areola, he wouldn't even try. I certainly appreciated his honesty before choosing him for the surgery and waking up angry afterward, but isn't this a complete indication of his incompetence? My 3rd opinion was with Dr. Todd Rau in Redlands. Dr. Rau not only said he would save the nipple, he would reduce the size of the areola, place it back in the correct location and it would continue to have complete feeling AND it wasn't going to be an issue or concern for him to do. My surgery with Dr. Rau came out perfectly, no pain, no issues, easy recovery and full functioning nipples. I would NEVER recommend Dr. Collins.
