My nonverbal and autistic son had gone 24 hours without urinating and I was afraid he was dehydrated. I took him to the ER for IV fluids and an xray to see if he had bowel blockage per an xray taken 3 days prior. An xray was taken (he still had stool backed up on right side of intestine), but Dr. Kimpel did not give my son fluids because he said, "I don't think he'd like me very much if I gave him fluids." He showed little knowledge and experience with special needs children.
