Reviews for Dr. Mustasim N. Rumi
Had ACDF surgery and can't thank Dr. Rumi enough!
I'm not getting the treatment I need from Ascension Medical Group Seaton Orthopedics, Round Rock. Horrible treatment of the patient.
I was referred by my primary care doctor to schedule appt with Dr. Rumi and when I called to schedule I was transferred to referral dept which one was there to answer and to leave message, I called back and inform staff no one was there to schedule appt. Staff said let check, then hung up on me. Called back to ask what is going on, then staff immediately hung up again. Terrible customer service and will not ever go to them. Will go back to my doctor and ask for another referral. Absolutely abysmal. TRUST THE OTHER REVIEWS WHO SAY SEEING RUMI & ALL OTHERS IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I broke my arm on February 5 and was referred to Texas Orthopedics for a follow up. Spent a $50 copay on a 5 minute visit for him to ask me to make a few hand gestures and then send me on my way with an order for a CT scan and a follow up appointment a few weeks later. Got the feeling he wasn’t interested since it wasn’t a big (relative) $$$$ injury. Austin Radiology followed up with me for the CT scan, but Rumi & staff had ordered it for the wrong body part of my arm!!! Called Rumi’s office to have them correct the order, but NEVER got a call back. Having felt like the whole thing with Rumi & Texas Ortho Associates was a sham, I got a referral from my primary care physician to another ortho (Jeffrey Knabe at Seton RR, also in network for my Aetna plan) and WHAT A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE. Went to see him instead and not only was Dr. Knabe WONDERFUL, PATIENT, and KIND, but in the next 48 hours, he and his staff had seen me, done w full examination, thoroughly walked me through my X-Rays, and scheduled surgery (mind you all of this happened before I even would have followed up with Rumi and Texas Ortho Associates). This doctor and clinic is clearly a joke and anyone who’s SERIOUS about their injury should look elsewhere. Absolutely abysmal. Had an MRI done and my doctor never bothered to call me about it! Waited around for a month with a broken back. Avoid this office and seek a medical consultation somewhere else
Had MRI was referred. Dr Rumi never bothered to show me or discuss my MRI with me. Go to Physical Therapy and see if the pain stops. The consult was under 5 mins. Medical Industrial Complex widget style, assembly line. Seriously, the worst.
He really didn't explain exactly what he thought the problem could be, just ordered x-rays and MRI. I've called twice, left messages and my calls were never returned. Will listen to what he has to say and then find another dr.
apparently I was told we were just wasting his time. After an out patient surgery turned into a 24 day hospital stay. ICU stay and a pulmonary embolism. I took my husband in because he was feeling a great deal of pain and was advised to see the surgeon who had performed the surgery. Only to find out he was just a waste of his time.
So far, after working with Dr. Rumi for a year, I have appreciated his conservative approach to trying all other available options (PT, Pain Management, injections) prior to recommending surgery. He is a matter of fact, and cordial, but obviously takes his job as a doctor seriously and his patient's health seriously. He will not tell you what you want to hear, but will tell you the truth, which is refreshing. He has always maintained professional boundaries and is very thorough. Surgery soon.
I am an RN and new to Austin. My primary doc referred me to Dr Rumi following a severe flare-up of a previous L5 disc protrusion. I tried conservative measures (PT and one steroid injection) for about 2 months before seeing him, but my pain was getting worse. I was not quick to jump into surgery, yet once he did a microdiscectomy on me, it was clear that I needed it. I feel great 3 weeks out of surgery and I'm nearly ready to resume working. As far as I'm concerned Dr Rumi is awesome. He is patient, kind and thorough. I'll definitely return to see him if I have any further spine issues. I am an RN and new to Austin. to the point, and caring
I went in not being able to walk due to a ruptured L4 / L5 disk, and in great pain. An hour or so after surgery, I was shuffling down the hall in the hospital. That next summer I summited Mt. Phillips in New Mexico. I cannot thank you enough.
