Update: I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease on September 5, 2014 after having a full workup for IBD by a new gastroenterologist. I have 11 ulcers in my small intestine. I, also, am positive for gluten antibody. I am now on a gluten free and Crohn's diet and taking a medication for Crohn's. Bless G-D that I have an accurate diagnosis and am being treated! I have complained to the center where Azal Mohammad is in practice because I do not want this to happen to another patient! Muhammad Afzal is one of the most arrogant and insensitive physicians that I have ever known. He performed a colonoscopy on me in June 2014. I was admitted in the hospital two days ago with a gastrointestinal bleed and an intestinal infection. I was released from the hospital w/ pending test from my fecal specimen. I saw Dr. Afzal today and asked him to contact the hospital to get the pending results from my fecal specimen. He said it was useless and that fecal test do not tell you anything. He told me that I should not be concerned about passing blood and mucus from my rectum w/ out stool. "This is normal", he said. He said I was bleeding from the rectum because I was straining at stool. When I told him that I had diarrhea at first w/ severe cramping and was not straining, he told me that he did not care what I said and that I was straining at stool! He was very hostile towards me and asked me why I came to see him today. He told me that the hospital diagnosis was wrong and that I should not listen to them. He said he is the expert,not them. He told me that my rectal bleeding was from hemorrhoids and gave me a prescription for hemorrhoidal cream. Needless to say, I will be looking for another gastroenterologist. I would not refer my worst enemy to this doc. He does not care about his patients and thinks that he know more than other gastroenterologists and hospitalists. I left his office in tears!
