My three children were seeing Dr. Rao for adhd when I called them to notify them that they were overcharging me on my copay. Later that day I received a phone call from the very rude receptionist that I had to pay cash for all of my further appointments because insurance was not paying them. I called my insurance and this office was sending the billing to the wrong place and they got it after two months. With the receptionist and I on the phone with insurance they explained how to submit and what my copay was. Once insurance was off the phone the receptionist stated “we don’t really care about that and we don’t call insurance companies “. They were paid over 30 days ago and they are no longer taking my calls.

Dr. Rao herself is the most amazing doctor I have had. Unfortunately, I must now seek help elsewhere as her receptionist staff is comprised of some (not all) incredibly rude and incompetent people. For 3+ years, I had no problem with the staff until recently. I was supposed to be scheduled for a January appt, but apparently it never went through. Come early January, I tried calling and calling and calling and leaving voice-mail messages and NOTHING. I struggled to get my medication refilled which led to some extreme behaviors of my mental illnesses returning. Post January, somehow my pharmacy was able to make contact and get another month refilled, but yet again, I spent February and up to mid-march trying to reach someone to help me schedule an appt/get my medication refilled. FINALLY, towards the end of March, I received an answer, but it was from the most rude receptionist I have ever dealt with. So disappointing to have someone like her work in the medical field. Right off the bat, she gave me attitude about me not ever having a January appt with them (despite me making that appt AND calling multiple days in advance, multiple times to receive a confirmation with no response from THEM). She seemed to have zero concern or care in the world for my situation at all. I was just another customer; I was not a patient in need to her at all. Keep in mind, I was respectful the ENTIRE time, despite my frustration of having to cope with my mental illnesses without proper care for MONTHS, all because the staff would not answer. Similarly, they admitted to having problems with their machine...for months??? How is a mental care facility not going to make it a priority to take care of that when that is the only way for patients to get in touch with them at this time?? To say the least, I had a horrible panic attack get triggered by this receptionist and decided to just say "thank you, nevermind" and hang up. I will now be looking for help elsewhere. No doctor, even one as amazing as Dr. Rao, is worth having to deal with such treatment and service. Dr. Rao, if you are reading this, please look into the receptionist staff. Some people were not meant for the medical field, and this can cause extreme harm to those patients like myself who cannot physically handle rude situations like that well. Now I'm off to begin my mental health journey all over again...this was difficult enough the first time. Completely disappointed. Dr. Rao herself is the most amazing doctor I have had. Unfortunately, I must now seek help elsewhere as her receptionist staff is comprised of some (not all) incredibly rude and incompetent people. For 3+ years, I had no problem with the … More

Receptionist at front desk was very rude, clinic was running late and she couldn't give us a time frame before we were seen. We have other obligations today and her being rude about the clinics shortcomings don't help us maintain our schedule. She should not be the face of the clinic. She should not be involved in customer service or direct customer care. There are customer service classes related to the healthcare industry, I would highly suggest that she be forced to take one. I should note that my 1 star rating is based solely on my interaction with the receptionist today, as we had yet to see the provider. Though it is their fault that their clinic can't run on time. Also like to point out, extremely uncomfortable waiting room. There are 21 chairs for 2 providers, why do 2 providers need seating for 21 people? It's either because they have way too big of a patient load and are always running late, or because they are simply always running behind and their clinic manager is poor at time management. Every patient needs to receive the care that they need, but as a clinic manager myself, it's my job to keep the patient flow running in accordance with the schedule and to make sure that my staff is courteous, properly trained, and educated on how to deal with a spectrum of potential patient issues. My limited interaction here certainly shows that the clinic staff needs some training and education, but Dr. Rao herself has very solid reviews. I have been seeing Dr. Rao on a consistent basis for a few years now for managing my ADD. She is very patient, kind, and provides thoughtful recommendations and feedback each time I visit. Even the office assistants are sweet and I haven't had to wait in the waiting room for more than an hour at most. I would recommend her highly!

Dr. Rau takes the time with all her patients to ensure they get the care they need. Sometimes that means longer wait times, but her experience and care more than make up for it.

Dr Rao is aggressive in her approach towards her clients. She has the parent sit back behind child. Attempted to bring chair up to sit next to child and was told to sit in the back. It was uncomfortable for myself and my child. Attempted to reschedule an appointment. Receptionist was rude on phone and told me I made the appointment and needed to keep it. Told I was going to be charged $25 since we will be running out of medicine. We won’t be back. I am private pay - $150/hr.......??

I highly recommend Dr. Rao. Our 8 y.o. son sees Dr. Rao for ADHD and we are completely satisfied. Dr. Rao takes a caring approach and during a time when we were trying out new medications from short acting to long, Dr. Rao was extremely invested in his success, even calling after hours when we needed a different alternative. I cannot say enough about her compassion and how well she relates to our son. Dr. Rao's support staff as well goes above and beyond as well!!!

Would never recommend Dr Rao. Her latest thing—hired a student nurse to ask questions she should be asking beforehand, then has student sit in on session. Dr Rao gets very defensive if your child’s answer differs from her notes. She is poor listener and doesn’t understand enough about drug side effects. She schedules appts 10 minutes apart and makes you wait an hour. Once we waited 45 minutes because she didn’t know we were there. She cut another appt short since she had to a catch plane.

After a some years with another doctor, where I ultimately felt like a medication guinea pig, I found Dr. Rao to be far more effective. I have improved significantly, and with less medication. I believe Dr. Rao is a gem.

Dr. Rao is great at listening and helping me be a part of my treatment plan. In addition to medication she stresses positive lifestyle changes that help maximize the overall effectiveness of the care she provides. I would definitely continue to recommend her to family and friends.

Yes, I would recommend Dr. Rao. Office staff is rude and uncivilized. They have absolutely no manners. When we first started going to Dr. Rao, approximately the middle of 2015, the front office staff was polite and courteous. The current staff is awful; from dealing with them on the phone to the subsequent visit (August 2017). If they aren't capable of appropriate conduct with patients they should find different jobs.

I would highly recommend Dr. Rao. She has been seeing our son for the past year and is able to communicate well with him. She is timely in her appointments, addresses any concerns we have and is always willing to follow up as to how he is doing. The office staff is extremely helpful and you never sit on hold when making appts. and they go out of their way if a form for school is needed.

At first I was concerned she might not be the right person for me because I am an adult, not a child as her advertising says. She has helped me get testing, go to therapy, and follow self care.

She was borderline rude and kept interrupting me as I was trying to tell her about my child's background. She met with our child for 15 minutes and prescribed medicine. Complete lack of empathy and people skills. Did not take any time to get to know the patient well.

I have found Dr. Rao to be very professional and attentive. She is very organized and remembers what we discussed from previous sessions. Dr. Rao can be like most psychiatrists in that you are assessed and treated through the medical model and so that may lack the empathy and warmth that you get from a therapist. I don't need her to be a therapist. I just need her to be a competent psychiatrist and make the right medical decisions on my behalf which she does.
