Monica A Philipkosky

As a person I feel she may be quite nice but as a women’s healthcare provider she is terribly lacking in bedside manner. She made me feel as though I was wasting her time when the appointment did not go smoothly. Also, there are no comforts in the exam room; cold speculum, cold stirrups, thin paper gown, cramped room, bright lights, etc. I will say that if you experience PTSD or trauma you should not go here because even if you tell the staff they will not take it into consideration and will not accommodate. I was told that this Doctor was trauma informed but sadly this was not the case. It was incredibly dehumanizing and the way she spoke to me was very rude no matter her intention. If you have never been to an OBGYN before do not go here. She did not take the time to get to know me before starting the appointment thus I was less trusting of her. Nor did she explain the process before beginning the examination. I will never forget this experience but I will also likely never return.

I had my son with this practice, after 2 pregnancies elsewhere. My first was with a doctor from Magee whom I loved, but unfortunately he moved to Johnstown after the birth of my first son. I then went to Westmoreland OBGYN, it was day and night compared to both doctors here. I was never seen twice by the same person, and my pregnancy ended with an emergency csection at close to 34 weeks from a full placental abruption, and my daughter being resuscitated, intubated, and lifeflighted to Magee. They didnt request a transfer for me, so I was unable to see my baby for days. I told them of issues, and they ignored them. Thank god I chose to go here for my third. I was able to have a successful VBAC, they sent me to the appropriate maternal/fetal specialists. They took the time to make sure everything went well. Although my son was born early at just over 35 weeks, he was 7lb6oz and healthy. The delivery was wonderful, they staff was amazing. First time new patient , staff there is nice had appt with dr Clarke and he took his time with me as well as getting to me and prior pregnancy’s. Had appt with dr. Philipkosky was in waiting room for 30mins finally went back to room she did not introduce herself , did not explain the visit as in what she was going to do if hearing baby heart beat today or not, she just jump right into it, I had an ER visit prior and did not mention anything she check heart beat and basically said she will order next ultrasound this will be for anatomy . And left room , never ask me how my pregnancy had been going ? Never tried to get to know me as this was my first visit with her. I felt rushed visit lasted 5mins after 30 min wait. I wrote the office threw “my chart “basically how I felt and never received a respond back. She’s rude and rushed. I’ve had a few hospital visits thinking I may have been in labor but not quite sure and she just had her nurses rush through and not even fully evaluate the situation like they should have or give me the time of day. I’ve called her once for medical advice and all she did was huff and puff and act like it was just a waste of her time. She also told me I need to call her every time before just going up to the hospital which I shouldn’t have to considering I have the right to just go if I think I’m in labor and she has no right to give me medical advice over the phone. If I wasn’t so late in my pregnancy I’d switch to another place because never again do I want to see her and would recommend her to anybody.

I really like Dr Philipkosky and Dr Clark. They are really great and so far have taken amazing care of me, and I know that they don’t have any control over the staff AHN has employed at these offices. With that being said; the medical assistants and Vicki the CRNP do not inform their patients (especially first time pregnancies) on how literally everything works. When you question them on this they give you an immense amount of attitude, and act as if you are stupid for not knowing. I am not sure if things are better at their other offices but my experiences have been at the Pellis Rd location. I really like Dr Philipkosky and Dr Clark. Dr. Philipkosky is an amazing doctor and I highly recommend her. In saying that, her CRNP Vicki Wilkinson is opinionated and unfriendly. Her irrelevant OPINION on certain subjects is borderline harassment. She is terribly rude and truly ruins my experience everytime I have to see her. Pregnancy should be a joyous occasion and she makes you feel as if you are a bother. Truly sad to be made to feel that way by one person. Bedside manner is not a strong point for CRNP Vicki Wilkinson. If it wasn't for my previous wonderful experiences with Dr. Philipkosky, I'd switch my practice all together. She is just wonderful!

So far so good. Monica Philipkosky is great! Quick service for Someone who doesn’t have much of a gynecological history. My appts. Are usually 15 min total including wait time. In and out!

I absolutely love Dr. Philipkosky and Dr. Clark and Vicki the PA. They treat you like a human and are very very respectful. They welcomed me to their practice after a horrible experience with Excela. They treated me with so much respect and compassion and it made me feel like they were truly on my side. The office staff is absolutely amazing and they care about their patients. It shows through how they speak and treat you. I highly recommend this practice to everyone! They are truly the best and have the best bedside manners! Dr. Philipkosky delivered my first child in March of 2017. While I was completely comfortable with her during our scheduled appointments, I found that during the actual birth, there was a lack of personal connection. I was hoping for a chat beforehand and afterwards, but the doctor slipped away after the delivery. I was also hopeful for some check-in's after the delivery, but did not receive that. I am not even sure that she recalls my son's name or I was hopeful for a more personal approach. As a provider, she did a god job of answering my questions during the pregnancy and of providing a very relaxed office atmosphere, which I appreciated.

Telling women they need to "curb off cigarettes and not quit cold-turkey because it's bad for the infant" which every single medical study disagrees with. Promotes smoking while pregnant is medical malpractice if anything.

Have to leave messages instead of getting a person when I call. She brings in a PA student and doesn’t ask permission for them to examine you. The appointment was rushed and she started to leave before I had asked all my questions.

I was a patient of Dr.Monica years ago...did not need her service until recently..called Excela Greensburg and they were RUDE..acted like they never heard of her...did not give me a clue as to find out where she was...dead or alive..well I found her on my own...needless to say that Greensburg, lived up to their nasty selves......I hope that one day soon AGH or UPMC will take over...and Mr. Bob is out of a career ....could write a book about the bad experiences I've had every time I was a patient..also my Mother and my husband......woops...this is to be a positive about Monica...it is..just love her.... She has been the best for me and my family! Two beautiful healthy girls and always there to help me when I am in need! She truly cares about her patients and the selflessness and love that she demonstrates shows! Would go nowhere or to no one else but her!

Dr. Philipkosky is one half of an amazing team of doctors. Her compassion and intellect make it a blessing to have her for my doctor. Taking the time to listen to her patients, and not just listen but understand them. Their phones are never working during regular business hours! Just called at 1:15 on a non-holiday and got a recording that the office was closed. Normal phone hours are 8a-4p with the office being closed 11-12 for lunch. Not the first time this has happened. Get it together!

She delivered my first son via c-section and it was a wonderful experience.Dr. Philipkosky also told me that I was going to have a large baby and felt I was too small to deliver him. I asked her how much she thought he would weigh... she felt around my belly again and she said. I am going to guess 9lb 9 oz. He was delivered days later at 9lb 11oz. She has always had great bedside manner. I wont see anyone else!! -Erin D

This office is fine for your regular gynecological check up. But for pregnancy appointments, I have been EXTREMELY disappointed. So far I have only had around 6? (over halfway through my pregnancy) and THREE of them have been cancelled, rescheduled, or have been moved to another location which is not convenient for me to attend. I've seen Dr. Philipkosky 1x in all of my visits, which is scary for a first time mom who needs to talk options/ avoiding interventions/ etc. Switching to a midwife.

To get through to this office is outrageous. I went there once and I'll never go again. You have to call over 10 times and still can't through to anyone. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
