Dr. Mohamed Kamel Mohamed

Dr. Mohamed is very knowledgeable and the most caring Doctor I have ever had! He prescribed the program of chemo treatments for me and has been following up with my health for 3 years after my treatments were concluded!

Dr Mohamed started treating me for inoperable lung cancer in February 2019. My home is in West Virginia and I was diagnosed there but since my son and daughter live in North Carolina I elected to be treated here in case I needed help. I can definitely say now that I made a correct choice. Dr Mohamed is one of the best men and best doctors I have ever met in my entire life of 76 years. Not only is he outstanding in his field as an oncologist I think of him as a good best friend. He was so kind to my wife, my daughter and me on our initial visit and during my treatments I actually looked forward to seeing him each week. He diagnosed me as having stage 3B lung cancer. After my initial treatment of radiation and chemotherapy he started me on immunotherapy for one year and it obviously worked. He and his whole staff are the most wonderful people that you will ever meet. It is now two years and 8 months later and I feel great. I recommend him to anyone that is diagnosed with lung cancer. His staff became friends to me during my treatments there as well. They are outstanding. I have a CT scheduled for next month as a follow-up to see if any active cancer has started back and I'm looking forward to seeing him again. I love Dr.Mohamed, he makes me feel comfortable and that is very important to me. He is very knowledgeable and explains everything so I understand completely. He is an extraordinary physician and should you need this type of service, I highly recommend.

Dr. Mohamed is a great, humble man. He is extremely understanding and treats patients with such kindness. Obviously, I was worried with the situation and wanted the best physician, best treatment, and outstanding standard of care. Dr. Mohamed has been amazing. My dad was an otherwise healthy 84 year old when he was diagnosed with Stage 4 NSCLC. I was devastated and overwhelmed. Dr. Mohamed immediately and throughout his care talked to us about what we were going to try. He gave us the time and space to reconcile with this devastating disease. It has been almost 2 years and my dad is still at home with his wife and family and dealing well with his diagnosis. I am forever grateful for Dr. Mohamed's wisdom, care and brilliance in medicine, health and humanity.

Dr. Mohammed k. Mohammed is the best oncologists I have ever known. Dr. Mohammed approach every cancer illness cautiously and safely. First of all, Dr. Mohammed takes his time to explain his findings and the safest treatment options for a patient with knowledge or without any knowledge about cancer. This is what really set him apart from other Oncologist. I have the opportunity to learn from him that treating one particular cancer aggressively is not always the best way. As a patient of Dr. Mohammed for the past seven years, he and his great team of Physicians Assistants and Nurses would always make sure they communicate with you and your primary doctors efficiently. I have been seeing Dr.Mohammed for the past seven years. Dr. Mohammed"s availability to his patients is what sets him apart especially when you are going through some health crisis. It's being ups and downs for the past seven years but Dr. Mohammed gets there just in time to save the moment. He always patiently goes through your labs with you and clearly explain what is going through your body. Great Oncologist, thank you so much for the great job and your availability.

If you want to be another number waiting on standard treatment(not catered to individual patient), wait for weeks on end for appointments, be talked to like you're incompetent, have all your questions shot down, have your education questioned(Bc he wanted to know how much we "knew about chemo") And be made to feel like a drug seeking junkie when discussing pain control, than this is the doc for you! Absolutely disgusting how he goes about his job, and makes patients feel as if there are NO options, besides the one he presents. Wait times are crazy, scheduling is always far out and under-organized , and the chemo area is cramped, small, and isolating. Furthermore, he is only concerned about the DEA and their audits on his prescriptions, not providing end of life pain control and making sure his advanced stage patients are comfortable. GO TO A CANCER INSTITUTE, you're life literally depends on it. Dr. Mohamed LISTENED, researched, & recommended a treatment for me that is working for now. He gave me realistic information /not too much not too little/ just what I want to take in. He is confident, caring, & considerate.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Mohamed. I don't know where I would be today had I not placed my life in his hands. He offers professionalism, extensive expertise, and compassion, which all patients and caregivers deserve and require. I was honored to have him as part of my medical team.

The following review was written by my husband, Irving Lugo, who is the patient: I started working with Dr. Mohammed in 2012 when I was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the lung, stage IV with brain metastases. I have never smoked for what lung cancer was not the first thing you think about when you have a cough lasting for three months. I happened to have a genetic mutation that rendered me prone to develop lung cancer. Dr. Mohamed chose the right course of action. He prescribed an oral medication that had proven to be effective in patients carrying my type of mutation. I responded well to it. From 2012 to 2017 the medication kept my cancer under control. He helped me understand that my cancer was like a chronic illness that can’t be cured but can be managed. In May 2017 I developed a neurological complication from the lung cancer. I seemed to have developed resistance to the first medication. So he explored the use of another medication that seemed to cross to the brain better than the previous one. To be eligible to get this medication you had to test positive for a second mutation, but I did not. The situation was hopeless and the prognosis was poor. In the process he got a hold of an article just published in which patients with my neurological complication were responding to this medication even if they did not have the second mutation. He fought to get this medication approved for me and he was successful. It will be a year this month of June and I seem to be responding well. The cancer is not spreading any more. So, Dr. Mohamed, my oncologist, is very knowledgeable, he keeps up with the latest research on new ways to treat lung cancer. He is a very compassionate, patient, humble, spiritual guy who never gives up on his patients. I am grateful to have him as companion in my journey. Dr Mohamed has been treating me for 4 or so years now. He is always prepared for my appointments and always discusses options with me while valuing my input. He has an excellent personality and is knowledgeable about my condition as well. Anyone in his care is in good hands.

When I was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer at 46 years old I thought how could this happen to me. As I went through the process to determine where to go for treatment a Dr friend of mine that I trusted said why would consider going to Wake or Duke when Mohamed is in Greensboro, he is a great Oncologist and is 10 minutes from where you live. My Dr's recommendation to see Mohamed was perfect. I have been his patient for almost 3 years, and I cant say enough good things about the care I have received. We wanted the very best for her; the best care, best treatment options, and best Oncologist overseeing her care. We were referred to Dr. Mohamed, and that's exactly what we got, the best. Dr. Mohamed is an outstanding Oncologist who has provided the absolute highest standard of care. We have complete confidence in him. Dr. Mohamed has been treating my mom since 2008 and continues to do so. He always has a smile on his face and a fantastic Doctor by far. My mom is in the best care.

My wife has been seeing Dr. Mohamed for 8 yrs with lung cancer. Dr Mohamed is a knowledgeable, compassionate and extremely professional at what he does. I don’t believe my wife would have lived this long with her illness had we been seeing any other Dr. We moved 4 hrs away from Greensboro and had consultation with another Dr. and we never went back after initial visit. We continue to drive 4 hrs one way monthly for Dr Mohamed visit and treatment. He and his staff are amazing.

I was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer three years ago. Dr. Mohamed has been compassionate and very knowledgeable. When the first medicine stopped being effective after fifteen months, he already aware of a second generation drug which has less side effects and is able to handle everything the first treatment could not. Dr. Mohamed has been absolute to me and my husband.

My experience with Dr. Mohamed has been great. Lung cancer was the first serious illness I have had in my 71 years. I had never been in a hospital and had no knowledge of navigating health care other with my primary physician. Dr. Mohamed was very patient in explaining my condition and has always been willing to listen to my concerns. I would recommend him to anyone as a doctor who is definitely on your side with issues great and small. His assistant is equally wonderful and attentive.

Dr. Mohamed is a most wonderful person and doctor. He is very knowledgeable in the field of lung cancer. I feel that I will live a longer life with my stage 4 lung cancer just by being under his care. He welcomes me at each visit with a smile and makes me feel so very special.

He is currently treating my mom for small cell lung cancer. Her cancer has improved tremendously in the four months he has been treating her. I would recommend him to anyone needing help and answers.

I was looking at Cone Cancer center on the web and saw Dr. Mohamed and was reading some of the reviews on him, and I can't believe some of these reviews. He has been my wifes Dr. for 2 years and she loves the way he takes care her. He was her brothers Dr. also and now he is cancer FREE. He is one of the most compassionate man and caring Dr.,so I just can't believe everything you read. He does have your goodwill at heart and he answers any question she might have.

When cancer is diagnosed everyone wants a miracle. I wish that would happen. Found Dr Mohamed. Explained everything what our options were. Get a second opinion that way you can feel confident. I did, went to a Duke and they said the plan would be the same. Ask lots of questions do research. Dr Mohamed will answer and give you the truth. I have been stable for almost 3 years. 3 more than what was expected. I would recommend Dr Mohamed for his understanding, compassion, support in this process.

He explained the medical condition and thoroughly explained treatment options. After the method of treatment was determined, Dr. Mohamed told me what he expected the treatments would do in fighting my disease. I highly recommend Dr. Mohamed.

This is by far the most passive. Apathetic doctor i have ever met. He will stand by and do nothing as your loved ones die. His treatment plan includes doing nothing while the cancer spreads, then recommend treatments he never follows through on- again while the cancer spreads. He disappears for weeks at a time, then will have a nurse call to tell you the cancer has again spread. He’ll recommwnd a treatment for that, and weeks later it won’t be scheduled either. STEER CLEAR-unless you want to die

Dr Muhammad I would not recommend. He over treats in the radiation and chemo. He is not open to refer patients to the cancer institute that can use target treatment. Upon consulting with him in reference to a family member I began to realize when it came to African American patients he was less concerned about the quality of life. I suggested holistic treatment for the cancer he argued it doesn't work. After losing this family member the discovery we found was this Dr knew this family member had cancer traits in the blood prior to the current family caregiver taking over and never opened his mouth about it. He refused all my suggestions upon which time I informed him of my medical background. He past the buck to other Dr's and still gave high does of chemo and radiation that burn the family member skin. I informed him because of holding back on his prior diagnosis it was grounds for a law suite. He knew this family member body was not strong enough to go through this very invasion treatment and he encouraged him to eat whatever he wanted when studies show this is so far from the truth. For the record and this is for people of color or anyone who has Medicaid and medicare run from this Dr he is very arrogant and rude with his Scarcastic diagnosis and will walk out the room. For the record he needs to be investigated. After the death he changed the paper work when it was requested. He can dispute it all he wants we still have the files. So Dr Mohammed did you know that tumeric is a cancer killer? Medical journal along with holistic Dr's prove Dr's like you wrong daily. For the record my uncle would still be alive and thank Allah I was not his caregiver because you would not be in practice. Wesley Long needs to investigate you and Dr's like you who don't believe in the quality of life. You took an oath to save lives not make people worse off. So to who ever reads this runnnn from this Dr and look in Winston Salem for a holistic Dr. Run from chemo and keep in med hospitals encourage certain behavior's from Dr's. our experience was nothing my brother Barry has lung cancer all Mohamed did was call him in for follow ups and charge his insurance he never did anything for my brother and know that my brother is about to pass he told my sister in law to just call hospice he is no doctor to me and insurance should pay him a dime he had from thanksgiving to help or at least try he did nothing but talk
