The front office staff at this practice are the rudest people I have ever encountered! I have given this practice multiple chances and EVERY TIME they are rude, snarky, impatient and don't listen to the patient. I do not recommend this practice to anyone. Dr. MILLER IS THE GREATEST

I recently moved back to VA Beach after being gone for 20 years. Dr.Miller was my Dr. here 20 years ago and I just started seeing him again now. He is by far the most excellent family physician or specialist I have ever had. He listens carefully, doesn't rush and goes into a careful explanation of anything he advises. I don't get shoved off to a NP and am careful to request that I see him when I make my appointment. He treats you like you are an important person and not just a number. In 20 years he has not changed or been caught up with the latest 2 minute sessions you get with most drs these days. I recently moved back to VA Beach after being gone for 20 years. Dr. Miller is an awesome family doctor. I have been going to Dr. Miller for over 25 years and I have been taken care of in a very professional way. My medical issues have been up and down, but I know that I am in great hands at Coastal Family Practice.

I am incredibly surprised this place is still able to conduct business. I was a patient for the duration of a simple physical. I would say that I was there for one single visit, however that is where the issues began. This place is absolutely out to take you for every dime they can. They intentionally break appointments into as many visits as they can get out of you for the sake of charging you a co-pay. A simple physical (mind you I am perfectly healthy) was broken into 3 visits. The first they called a "familiarization appointment" to get to know the doctor. (Isnt this what the physical appointment is for?) Then they schedule you for blood work, which they then charge you for because they don't disclose to you that they have a subcontracted company come to their facility once a week. Typically with your blood work is considered part of your annual physical and should be covered, but because they subcontract someone to do it in their office, you get charged "lab fees". They then schedule you for your physical. The last two of the three appointments, I would consider normal... No problem... However they should be disclosing that you will be charged lab fees because of the manner they do blood work. Its a bit surprising to find out your "annual "free" physical is now costing you money out of pocket because the way they conduct business. Aside from this visit I never visited again. Yet somehow 2 times I was charged for visits and procedures I never had performed. Not only that, the staff was quite lackadaisical and rude regarding the foul ups in billing on their part. Because of all the issues with billing I began asking questions regarding why I was being charged fees prior to my insurance company ever being billed. I was told "Oh you have to tell us to do that specifically and we'll note it on your account". This is fine, as I understand things have changed since the "affordable care act" has been in play. However, yet again.... this is something they should disclose as they proceed with their billing practices. Summary: This place does a lot of shady billing practices, the counter staff is very unprofessional, and the methods this place employs in order to get as much out of you as possible certainly left a sour taste. If you do a bit of searching you will find multiple reviews regarding the same concerns I have mentioned here. I suggest you do not consider this place for your care, as you WILL get jerked around regarding billing and them "bleeding you" for everything they can. I've never had such a horrible staff at a doctors office in my life! Valarie is rude and nasty and has no kinds of customer service skills! I called and cancelled and appt and also left a message which I have proof of cancelling my appt and asking for a call back to reschedule. I never received a call back from anyone until they called me about a return check which I had no problem paying but than she tells me there is another 50.00 for a no show when I called and left them a message! I even have a voicemail from them saying they found the message however Valerie today tell me there was not a message?! Than tells me she canceled my appt that's not until Monday!! I've never been treated so rudely by any Dr. Office. Great job Valerie I'll be finding a new doctor at this point. Dr. Miller you should really look into who is answering your phones and treating your patients with such disrespect! I can not even believe that she sat there and told me I didn't leave a message when I absolutely did prior to my doctors appt. great part is that you never called me back!
