The nurses and staff are always very nice but when I took my 17 year old daughter in who had been working very very hard to eat healthy and loose weight gradually over the past year, Dr. Holtzman suggested that she eat a 1200 calorie diet!!! I'm sorry but she knows my daughter's history of OCD and severe anxiety and telling her something like that could send her I'm another direction like anorexia. A 1200 calorie diet is ridiculous and dangerous! This isn't the first time I have had an issue with her. During that same visit I mentioned to her that my oldest, who is 2.5 hours away at school was having heart palpitations and I what should I do for when she comes home for Thanksgiving break. She stated that because she is 18 that she should see the local cardiologist. So I called to make an appt and they require a referral. So I have spent the last 5 days trying to get a referral from her because she states "I haven't seen her since August of 2018 and she had not complaints at that time." Ok I understand that but you are the one who told me to take her to a cardiologist!! And also, things change, just because she didn't have these issues then doesn't mean she doesn't have them now! Needless to say I'm still fighting it and will continue until I get an appt with a cardiologist for her. This doctor is impersonable and has views that are potentionally dangerous to teenagers. If you are looking for a pediatrician you need to be very careful of who you pick and you need to interview them thoroughly.
