Great Doctor, super staff, I highly recommend this group

Not a nice man. Wouldn't listen to my concerns, was very impatient with me told me flat out "how many times do I have to tell you the pain will go away it just takes time?" On my initial visit he had a friends son in on my cystoscopy and said he was shadowing him. In subsequent visits he was just as disinterested as he was when I first went to him. My intuition told me to seek out a different urologist but I didn't heed my own advice. Next time your gut feelings tell you something listen to them. I'm still dealing with strictures from the "green light surgery" he preformed.

Kept waiting on the telephone for one hour. Instructions to register for Patient Portal did NOT work. Telephoned the office but connection could not be completed. What to do after 3 strikes????

Since my prostate procedure, I have had six (6) separate urinary track infections with the latest test result today, 01/14/2020. I phoned for help 2 infections ago & was told to come in to see the doctor in six (6) days or go to a doc in a box. I did & got Rx for my 5th bout of antibiotics. Experienced 6th bout with yet another antibiotic. Dr Scostak never warned me about bowel blockages arising from antibiotic use which resulted in two trips to the hospital emergency room. The two episodes were extremely painful. The lack of any followups by the doctor or his staff has been a huge disappointment resulting in loss of faith for my care. Telephoning his office is seeking help on several occasions took days.Being told on a Thursday that I cannot be seen until Tuesday left me feeling short changed with severe pain, blood in my urine, & repeated infections. During an earlier visit my urinary track was numbed, my bladder filled via a catheter. When removed, I was on my back, shorts around my ankles, & was instructed to get up & walk across the room to the toilet. No assistance was offered. When I sat up, my bladder emptied soaking the clothing around my ankles. I was informed that "this happens all the time". I had to walk out with urine soaked underwear & shorts and drive home in that readily visible condition for all to see. I have been a patient of Dr Szostak for many years, He has been gentle n kind. I wouldn't go to no other Urologist.

Seen the dr two times. Spent less than five minutes with me. Didn’t listen to my concerns.

Dr. Szostak is highly skilled in urosurgery - renal calculus "kidney stones" in my case. He's performed multiple surgeries from percutaneous (incision through back) during critical care hospitalization, ureteroscopy with laser/basketing, shock wave lithtotripsy and ureteral stenting. With a warm bedside manner, caring and truly compassionate nature...I highly recommend him to everyone I speak with. Hospital staff at Mease Countryside feel the same. As others have stated, he doesn’t listen to you because apparently he has all the answers that apply to everyone the same. I wasted multiple trips here and no success. Wanted to keep testing and scheduling more visits. Find another doctor. The office is less than stellar also. Welcome to corporate medical care these days.

Always a 1 hour wait

Been using him for years....always spot on. Never had to wait more than 15 minutes.

Saw him for testicle pain and symptoms of low testosterone based off of recent blood work. Told me my symptoms aren't caused by low testosterone and if I raised my levels nothing would change. That is a flat out lie. He was more than willing to prescribe me Viagra though. Called in only 2 pills as a trial. Insurance denied it as they only approve 30 days worth. Called, left a message. Got a call 4 days later from nurse saying a new script was called in. Well guess what? He only called in a weeks worth so of course insurance wouldn't pay for it. Here's the kicker. I'm a male in his 30's so I shouldn't need Viagra. He's quick to prescribe me something that has to deal only with blood flow instead of fixing the root cause of the problem. He clearly doesn't want anything complex and would rather treat symptoms then work on correcting problems. Won't be back.

The doctor is very knowledgeable and has given me all the information and treatments I've needed but no problems.

Long waits, he is rushed and efficient, competent but little warmth or compassion displayed, even after telling you you may have cancer. Spends little or no time explaining things to you and never asks if you have any questions. Rushed, rushed, rushed. Pleasant demeanor but like a robot. Never feels like he really engages with you.

Get a second opinion!!! Being a healthy male under 50 yrs of age and PSA number increasing shouldn't automatically mean perform a prostate biopsy. This is exactly what Dr. Szostaz did, without checking if I had Prostatitis or an infection first, which can increase the PSA number. I spent weeks in the hospital with fever, bladder retention, catheter in hospital and a week at home. Biopsy was negative. Now stuck with over $10,000 in hospital bills from a biopsy gone bad, I never needed.

He takes time to listen and answer all questions. Explains things on a level I can understand. Works with me to deal with my medical issue on a level I'm comfortable with. Shows a genuine concern for keeping my medications affordable.
