Brought my child here when she was three. They insisted I wait out in the waiting room where I could not see what he and his assistant were doing in the exam which I told them I did not like. Called me a "nervous mother" while laughing . My daughter ended up peeing in the dentist chair because she was so frightened.People at the front desk weren't friendly when I objected to this separation. Never went back. After the fiasco with the other pediatric dentist here in Jax hopefully switkes has changed his ways and stops putting mothers down. Brought my child here when she was three. Have used Dr. Switkes as a dentist for my three children since the oldest was 3 - she is now 21, and we're down to the youngest of the girls. He has always been professional and kind to them - and me. The two older ones were in no hurry to transition out when they got too old - he had to kick them out! The youngest still prefers him over his new partner and always wants to see Dr. Michael. When there has been a problem I have always been called back, but those have been few and far between. I have no problem with parents not being allowed back while doing procedures - in my opinion for too many children, their parents good-intentions sometimes get in the way of the children following the dentists directions. It's great to be sympathetic, but sometimes you simply have to get it done. As I have said, when there was actually a problem, I have ALWAYS been called back. Assuming Dr. Michael is still practicing when my son starts needing a dentist this is where we will still be going.
