Dr. Michael J Shanker

I saw him from when I was 14-19, and he truly saved my life.

I saw this man for many years. He was always rude to me never had anything positive to say about me. I was a kid who had no choice but to see him. He recommended that I be put in environment that's worsen my disabilities and put me on several dangerous medications that has given me serious physical health problems. Found out later that alot of my problems were more physical, causing an increase in mental difficulties. But instead of helping me find specialist, he proceed to keep me on all this medications. Dr. Shanker kept masking the problems instead of helping and guiding me to treat them. More money for him by not getting me the proper care. I saw this man for many years. I saw Dr. Shanker as a child and he was always very cold to me and did the very bare minimum. I was pushed into medication at a very young age as well when it was unnecessary. For years I was stuck seeing this man because I was a child. He literally made my life miserable and I firmly believe he did certain things to hurt me because he knew I did not like him. Practically perfect in every way!

Dr. Shanker is the most attentive psychiatrist I have ever had. He truly cares about his patients and it shows through his work. If you’re looking for a great psychiatrist, Dr. Shanker is your guy!

I don't know how he makes his judgment about his patients but he is not very accurate. Argues with you telling you are wrong and keeps discharging patients because he needs the bed for other patients without treating the other patients. I would not recommend mercy's behavioural health either because the staff is very rude. Very few staff is great but most of them don't have any ethics.

Absolutely love Dr. Shanker, He's easy to talk , he listens to my kids problems , had great insight. He doesn't rush through our appointments, he takes his time too listen to me and my kids. He has called me back directly instead the secretary. I can usually get Emergency appts when I needed them. We unfortunately moved and no longer can see him, but I would recommend him to anyone. He is going to be a hard Doctor to replace. Jennifer B
