Spoke with Scharf via virtual visit. Never once made eye contact with me. Asked the same generic questions and told me to go get a covid test. Asked him what good that would do? Said if I was positive to quarantine myself and If I couldn't breath to go to the emergency room and If I tested negative to make an appointment with him to listen to my Lungs! Michael Scharf is a great doctor until you actually need a doctor. I went to him for eight years for routine physicals. Since I was always healthy when I saw him, it didn’t bother me that all he did was sit in front of the computer and ask questions. He basically did data entry that could’ve been done by a medical assistant. When he examined me, he had the same canned speech every year. The first time I went to him with a medical issue, he wasn’t very helpful. Later that year, I went to him because I was having left-sided chest pain and pain under my left rib. He literally tried to talk me out of it. When I told him I was having chest pain while he was doing his data entry, he dropped his head, turned to me and said, “If you tell me you’re having chest pain, then we have to do a test. Do you really want to say that?“ When I replied, “I am having chest pain so I don’t know what you want me to say,“ he was very annoyed. I was so upset by his unwillingness to actually be a doctor instead of a data entry person that I left his practice and six months later I had a stroke. While that wasn’t his fault, you have to wonder if he actually cared about his patients might he have picked up on something? Michael Scharf is a great doctor until you actually need a doctor. Dr. Scharf is a no-nonsense, methodical diagnostician. He earns his five stars.

I thought he was good, caring and smart. Can't remember the wait time and staff but I was satisfied so that was probably fine as well.

Dr. Scharf is a practitioner using the current medical standard belief of what is the best treatment for an illness. He specifically ask questions guiding him to the strongest possibly of the illness. Dr. Scharf always turns to connect with the patient to make certain everything is understood. A handshake is always a given.

If you need a doctor to refer you to another physician or have a very simple medical problem, then he is the Dr. for you. Otherwise, he gets you in and out of the office as fast as he can and is more interested in completing your computer chart when you are there. I expect more from an Internist. I was diagnosed by another Dr. (who I demanded to see) for a disease in later stages when I could have been diagnosed at an earlier stage by Dr. Scharf with much more favorable consequences!!
