I have been using Dr. Rich since 2004 and absolutely love him and his staff. He listens to all my concerns, takes them seriously, and if he can't solve them, he refers me to someone who can. I helped me get control over my GERD, my chronic cough, depression among other things. He follows up on labs, imaging etc. by calling with the results, whether they are normal or needs more investigation. My most recent visit was 10 days ago and I couldn't be happier. Established primary care with Dr Rish. From the moment I walked in I felt secure. Staff is great. Dr Rish feels like someone I’ve known forever. So fortunate to be part of the UH family!

The visit was not only a complete disappointment, it was also a waste of my time. Dr Rish was more interested in telling me how much he disapproved of medical marijuana than looking for things like colon cancer screening, blood work, etc. He pressed me on how doctors got licensed to prescribe medical marijuana. I'm there to get a physical, not to explain how the state works.

Dr. Rish is a great doctor for for typical everyday sickness; allergies, colds, sore throats or ear aches. However, whenever I have had genuine concern about my health I have been met with “I’m not worried about it, let’s keep and eye on it”. Yesterday was probably the final straw for me. After he told me my abdominal pain was likely linked to a muscle strain. I went to the ER, the Er doctor before even running any tests told me my symptoms were not muscle related. My sons and I have been going to Dr. Rish for going on 20 years. We love him and gladly will drive over an hour to see him. Over the past 2+ years the office seems to really have gone down hill though with communications. I have to call several times to get an appointment, leave several messages, and I've even tried scheduling online to find out "We don't use the online scheduler" which really defeats the purpose. If we didn't love Dr. Rish so much, we would have left the practice when we moved 30 mins further away. My sons and I have been going to Dr. Rish for going on 20 years. Dr Rish is prejudice, judgmental, everything that we are trying to change in the world. He made me feel awful because of a disorder I have. Point blank he just didn’t care about me. I waited in his office for over a half hour. He asked me almost no questions about my health history, my disorder, my current health, nothing. He saw my condition and immediately judged me. Oh yea I went there for constipation medicine, that’s it! And he wrote me 2 months worth of the medicine, I waited almost a week feeling HORRIBLE, only to get a letter stating he will no longer see me as a patient and he cancelled my prescription FOR CONSTIPATION MEDS! If he didn’t want to see me he could have told me at the appt. He is a coward and doesn’t care about people. Only the snowflakes!!!! An extremely disappointing visit, and waste of time. Dr. Rish seemed more interested in playing a gotcha game involving my use of state approved medical marijuana which he disapproves of than getting a grip on my overall state of health. (Not good when you have active epilepsy) and are in your middle age. He found it hard to believe I couldn't remember all the types of different strains I had over the last year + He never asked about several other issues I wanted to get to before shuffling me out the door. He never asked when was the last colon cancer screen I had. I am 56. I have never left a doctor's office feeling like the doctor was more interested in lecturing me than looking out for my health needs first. And someone tell the good doctor that more people die from cancer that could have been avoided by simple early testing than by marijuana whose brand name was forgotten. Our family has been patients of dr. Rish for years. The reason you may wait a while before seeing him is because he takes his time with each patient. He never makes you feel rushed and he’s very thorough. His staff is very nice also.

My children and I have had Dr Rish as our family doctor for about 15 years. He’s caring, intelligent, incredibly easy to talk to and he takes time to answer my questions. I’ve seen people complain about the wait time but it’s because he spends time with each individual patient and does not rush through any appointment I’ll happily wait because it is definitely worth it. My kids love him and feel comfortable talking to him openly. I’m thankful to have him as our family doctor. My children and I have had Dr Rish as our family doctor for about 15 years. I went to see Dr. Rish with multiple issues i was experiencing and he addressed every single one without rushing me. He really took the time to listen and I felt like he genuinely cared. Donna, one of the staff members is really nice and helpful as well.

I have been going to Dr. Rish throughout a majority of my life. He has always been a positive and understanding doctor. He really listens and is always happy to share his own personal experiences where they apply. Not only will they not call you back when you try to make an appointment (for weeks), you will be waiting in the waiting room for up to 4 hours. I have been going to him for over 15 years and he wouldn't call in migraine medicine (non narcotic and can not be abused) until I went in for a visit. So not only did I have to wait and work with a migraine over the holiday weekend while they were closed, they won't even give me medicine to hold me over until the next available appointment. Now I have to go to the emergency room to be treated until I find a new doctor. I used to bring my son there and stopped years ago due to his negligence. My son was constantly sick with respiratory issues and he just pumped him full of antibiotics and wouldn't look for a cause. Brought him to a new doctor and the first appointment with the new dr and he was diagnosed with asthma and given proper medicine and hasn't had issues since. Dr.Rish is a nice guy but he takes on way too many patients and fails his current ones. If you are really sick you are better off going to the emergency room the wait time and treatment will be much shorter. Clearly having appointments to make him money is more important than the actual patient there, I will not be going back. He only cares about getting you in for another appointment so he can get paid. He does not truly care about your health/ well being like doctors should.. Very disappointing, spent way too much money using his services when nothing got resolved.. Also the office receptionist in the Avon location are very unprofessional and RUDE! I hated calling the office for that reason the most..

His attitude has changed. Once friendly and attentive to you needs however, he has since become less concerned with patient needs versus conserving his statistics with patient outcome. My health has declined and have since noticed his distain when modest treatment is not effective.
