Dr. Michael Duane Papenfuse

DrPapenfuse is the best Doctor I have been to in a long time. He is very caring and doesn’t give up on you. He is very easy to talk too. He doesn’t make you feel stupid even when I ask a stupid question. I have told a lots of people about him. I hope that the open the office up here again in Tawas. There are a lot of retirees people up here

Since my family doctor retired, Dr Papenfuse has been the only doctor I have seen (and there’s been a few) that has really listened to me. I trust his decisions. He wants help and doesn’t see me as a number.

Very compassionate and understanding

Dr. Papenfuse is the worst doctor I have ever seen. As someone who has lost a very large amount of weight, he constantly blames my pain on my weight. I am at a weight where I am considered healthy and yet he still always says I need to lose weight. He will put you on gabapentin and then he’ll tell you it makes you gain weight and you need to stop taking it. He is near impossible to have a compassionate conversation with. He never see’s the work people put in to lose the weight that he claims is the whole issue. I follow a very strict keto diet per his recommendation and have lost 60 pounds in the past year. He still blames my weight for my pain, despite how much I have lost. Every visit I end up crying in his office while he humiliates me and makes me feel like I deserve to suffer. This doctor is the worst thing someone who is in serious constant chronic pain can go to. Do not see him.

Staff are difficult to work with. Scheduling an appointment is difficult. Appointments that you have waited for months for get changed. The staff indicate "you simply have to understand, we are very busy." They will NOT take a phone call or help when a medicine is not covered. Having said that, the Doctors are very good, if you can actually see them.

Dr Papenfuse was the first doctor that knew about my life long disease called RSD/CRPS. I have been to so many other docs, clinics, hospitals etc ...and have been rejected because they don't want me. Most people don't know our disease. This doctor is an angel to me. He listens, cares, and he has a plan for me. I am so blessed that I found him.
