Dr. Michael Musgrove

I was referred to Dr. Musgrove's office after a traumatic innocent where the defendant was found guilty on criminal charges. In April of 2018, i was first seen by Julie Williams's. She was patient, understanding and took the time to hear what happened & why i was there. I have recently moved out if state she made sure i was able to find someone in my state. The office staff has always been nothing but kind, efficient letting me know what my cost was both as self pay & with insurance. Always got my messages to Julie William's and answered any questions, rescheduling issues or anything i asked about with real answers and always made sure they were kind, respectful and knowledgeable about what they told me. I am forever grateful for Julie Williams and all the staff.

I have been a patient of Dr. Musgrove & his PA's for more than 10 years (at least). He is very genuine & kind. His PA's are wonderful as well. I have, over the years, seen a variety of them. He helped me when I hit a huge bump in the road many years ago. They have helped me maintain and regulate meds as needed as well. Highly recommend!

Office staff is horrifically rude and completely lacking in any empathy whatsoever. All postings about this being a cash grab are dead on. I had life interrupt my schedule for a bit and wasn’t able to get in to see them as often as their wallets would like. Therefore, I received a letter discharging me via certified mail. No phone call - something so personal is against office policy. When I requested an alternate list of providers, the receptionist hung up on me. I called back and requested a “referral list” and was told they don’t provide that. I said that I was being discharged and they were not even providing me with a potential doctor to see? She said she could give a provider list. I said that’s what I wanted. She said “no, you asked for a referral.” Please. I think in this context it was obvious what I was looking for. Dr Musgrove has been a great psychiatrist, helping me to understand and approach my issues with a positive impact.

I really like Dr. M. He’s very kind and he listens. He calls me Ms. Emily! ????. You HAVE TO BE WILLING to try different meds and combos of meds when things aren’t working. My issues are VERY drug resistant. Even the mighty Ketamine was no match. So he nixed it; he won’t ask you to go on endlessly with something ineffective. It’s not hard but you’ve got to be open and by all means do research. He ABSOLUTELY wants to help. I find the PAs pretty quick to respond. I don’t give anything a five, ever. Nothing is perfect. SOMETIMES an appt feels a bit rushed but that’s often the nature of the beast when you are doing just med management and no talk therapy. He’s always on time. One more time, be open to some change and experimentation. It’s nothing dangerous I promise. I really like Dr. M. He’s very kind and he listens. He calls me Ms. Emily! ????. Dr M is wonderful. He really listens and works with you to figure out the right routine and then tweaks it as needed.

I called my insurance for a list of providers in my network and called the office if MUSGROVE, MICHAEL to make an appointment, I told the receptionistour insuranceand that the doctor was in network. The receptionist stated that it would be a PA not the Doctor for the visit, she didn't mention that it would NOT be covered by our insurance. She didn't mention that the Doctors Physician Assistant was out of network and she was going to charge $300 for something that our insurance covers at 100%. When made aware of it at the time of the appointment, receptionist stated that we will get a $15.00 bill for sameday appt cancelation. OK we will pay that bill and go somewhere else... I was a patient for 3 months. I never met Dr. Musgrove. They never return phone calls and honestly they really dont care about their patients. They will make medication changes without even consulting you. Its to bad they were being so helpful and my life was improving due to their care, but they really dont care about the patient, otherwise they would communicate with the patient vs making life changing choices without even speaking to you. At the end of the day their primary concern is making money and covering their own rear, patient care and truly helping is far down the list. As a owner of multiple local business I am absolutely disgusted but the level of communication and care. It's to bad, they were actually making my life better. Dr. Musgrove is great, love his personality and is quick to help. Obviously he stays booked because he’s great so it’s a longer wait to see him but there is always someone else you can see right away of you need to.

I'd began seeing Dr. Musgrove in November 2020 due to my previous psychiatrist retiring. He was so great, so it's difficult to find someone like him in experience and expertise. Dr. Musgrove was a referral from Dr. Russo, family doctor. So far, my husband and I like him. He's very attentive and concern as to what is not working and what is working for you. Finding a good and caring psychiatrist that fits with your personality may take a while since they are humans, too. They do have bad days and your personality might clash with theirs. But so far, I'm coming upon a year in seeing Dr. Musgrove and we are happy with him. If things change, I will update my review. Dr. Musgrove is extremely attentive and an absolute expert in his field. While under his care I have been able to maintain a productive and positive life through the years. And when the inevitable rough patches creep up on me, Dr. Musgrove has successfully talked me down off the ledge over and over. I appreciate all he does for me, he is simply the best.

He discharged me after being with his office for 5 years.... because I didn’t like Jill who I was moved to after my long time Dr. there left. I am in dire need and help and they could absolutely care less. Heartless.

The doctor has let the practice grow too big. He delegates patient care to understaff who are ill-trained and lack empathy. The office staff communication is also very poor.

I tried this doctors office as a referral from my primary physician and it wasn't a very good experience. The medication I was given had bad side effects. Terrible practice. They are bullies, and would rather refer you to partners than actually help. I feel as though I was punished for trying to help myself through these people.

The staff is poorly managed. Communication is lacking. the doctor has delegated most care to understaff who are ill-prepared and lack empathy.

Dr Musgrove is an excellent psychiatrist who sees myriad of patients with broad spectrum mental health conditions, which further galvanizes his expert assessment and treatment plans that cater to all maladies affecting a diverse patient pool. For my mental health treatment, Dr Musgrove not only has superb bed side manner, but he will answer any questions I have regarding the progress of my treatment, or the prescribing of new medications. As a combat veteran, Dr Musgrove is in tune with the current literature and evidence based practices that pertains to my specific conditions, often talking to me past the typical 15 minute session time allotment. He thinks outside the box, and is skilled in educating me about new approaches, or treatment modalities that are on the cutting edge of PTSD, major Depression and substance abuse disorders. Would recommend to friends and family.

I have been a patient for a few years. Dr Musgrove and his staff were recommended by a friend. I have had a very positive experience. He has a very kind heart approach. Works with me to find a good balance. He and his staff have gone the extra mile to help secure medications during this pandemic. A welcomed relief.

Dr. Musgrove is an excellent doctor. I had the great good fortune of seeing him from 2010 to 2018. I always felt at ease with him and he has a great since of humor. I have had mental health issues since 1982 and he is the best practioner I have ever encountered. Reading his reviews it seems most cripes are with the office staff. Yes, at times I got annoyed with them, but the my main beef is they don't say what there name is when you call. But that aside, if I asked if I could speak to Dr. Musgrove or get a prescription filled, he would call me back usually within an hour and my prescription were sent in right away. I live in North Texas now and in the 2 years that I have been here I still have not found a good doctor. For the people in the Round Rock area, there is a good doctor. Go see him! Always helpful when helping me deal with my difficult insurance and usually sends refills within an hour of request. Tech they use let’s you know when prescription has been sent.

Dr. Musgrove is great but his office staff and practices are awful. They are consistently rude, unfriendly, unhelpful and there's not reason to repeat previous posts that they are a "cash grab" that will add fees and other costs and leave you hanging. This place is a cash grab. They tell you they need to swab your mouth if they write you a prescription.. You end up owing the office extra money on your followup visit and then you receive a bill from some outside firm. The statement from the outside firm showed they billed $405 dollars for the mouth swab. That was on top of what extra was paid to the office. How many hands are in the cookie jar? Not only that, they tell you when you make an appointment that they will not fill out any disability paperwork if you have a medical condition. You are paying for a medical evaluation only, which was fine for me. But the fact that they state this when you are making appointment doesn't make them look good in my eyes. Unbelievable. This guy is a good doctor. I would recommend him to others. He listens and is very understanding to his patient’s needs.

After a decade of avoiding the front desk manager, one bad day and I will never go back I had medicine stolen right out of my mailbox, Im freaked out and THE manager argued with me about semantics over the phone instead of helping me. Im not mentally sound right now and needed a bit of understanding, instead she argued with me about nothing. Nothing. I simply asked for help and was a bit frustrated and she was rude, smug, and unhelpful. If I tried to bring up her unhelpfulness she threatened to end the conversation. Instead, I told her that her help was no longer need and ended the conversation. I did not curse or raise my voice or anything warranting her attitude. I may have been unrulely which is exactly how someone is when their medication has been stolen and she wasnt understanding of that. At first, Dr. Musgrove was a great doctor to work with, but his ethics are trashy. I was a patient for 2+ years and moved recently. The VA asked if I could get a statement from him but they are refusing to do so and said even if they did it would cost $95. I can see that Dr. Musgrove is out to screw over veterans. Not recommended. Dr. Musgrove is a very greedy doctor who doesn't care about his patients.

They treat you like a criminal when your previous doctor prescribed medication necessary for your condition That has worked for years. They don't listen to your goals and can't see past your current situation.

I have been going here for 2yrs. Each apt I vow that I am not going back because of the treatment (or lack of) that I receive there.

I've not had the greatest experience with this firm. The first doctor threw ever medication she could to me, i bet i went thru at least 15 different medications. Lower my score to two because the not so friendly staff would not set up my insurance correctly to continue my visits. I called my new health insurance and the mental insurance was the same, but they refuse to make the necessary calls to set up my insurance. And they never return your calls. If you're looking for a psychiatrist this is the perfect place to go for help! I've been seeing PA Elizabeth for almost a year and she totally changed my life, I can finally function and live happily! She always takes the time to listen to my questions and concerns and is quick to make changes if something is wrong. She always gets me in to see her super quick, and has never cancelled clinic! Also, anytime I need a new refill, it's sent in within at least an hour or two, and working for a clinic myself I know how rare that is. 10/10 would recommend. My frustration is with Dr. Musgrove staff unwillingness to assist. They do not return calls and they lack knowledge of Insurance issues. When dealing with insurance with my other dr's there is assign personal I can talk to directly eliminating miscommunication. My new Health Insurance uses the same Mental Health provider has my last insurance and I'm cover me with Dr. Musgrove starting 2018, yet their staff states they don't and refuse to assist to set up insurance through my new Insurance.

I've never had any problems with Dr. Musgrove, I see him or his PA Julie and they are great people, explain things thoroughly and point out potential problems or the best times I should take medications with my schedule and active lifestyle so I can get back to doing things I love doing.

They charged me $230 for my first appointment despite my $40 copay. I called their billing department and argued with them about it -- they disagreed. They insisted that they charged me correctly and that my future appointments would be $80. I had my employer's insurance representative look at the billing and contact their office. After two months I got a refund for $190 and approval that my appointments should be $40 copay. TERRIBLE service and Dr Musgrove only talked with me for 5 minutes. They refused to see me. Refused to even schedule me in. Horrible practice that won't even see a new patient. I've never heard of a doctor office refusing a patient that is covered under insurance and has a medical issue.
