Dr. Michael Patrick Murphy

Waited 45 minutes past my appointment time and sat with him for less than 10 minutes, he has yet to call me a month later with our plan of action for my tinnitus.

Is this a review of my experience with the doctor or my experience as a young person trying to navigate the medical system? I’m not entirely sure. Dr. Murphy seems very knowledgeable and was able to tell me that my dizziness was not related to any ENT issues, but this was only after he prescribed about $1000 dollars of tests (these are the minimum required tests he has everyone do FYI) just to make sure, even when one of those tests I already have performed routinely as part of a work medical exam. He wouldn’t take no for an answer and required me to take all prescribed tests before he would talk to me about what was causing my dizziness, and then made sure I attended follow up visits with him (additional copays) to go over the results. When the tests concluded it wasn’t an ENT issue, he then wanted me to pursue the same route but with a neurologist and was pushing very hard for me to have an MRI. No thanks man, 5 months later and my dizziness has been eliminated with stress reduction and adding more exercise to my daily routine. I felt like the whole process was a money making racket, and that doctors are only useful if you’re very sick or dying. Young people beware! Dr Murphy is outstanding. Helped me with a complicated problem and his referral to top specialists at UCSF was spot on! Truly a great, knowledgeable and caring Doctor!!!

As soon as I entered his office, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Dr Murphy guided me through the entire process as he removed a tumor from my nostril. This was my first time seeing him, he was kind, caring, and thoughtful. I would recommend anyone that needs an ENT I would recommend him.

I saw Dr. Murphy today. He is professional, super smart, really listens, very thorough, and clearly explains what is going on. Also, he has a great personality, and he is very down to earth.

The medical treatment received here is great. Agree with comments that Dr provides great care. Staff at San Ramon office is not rude and handles my needs adequately. The staff answering the phone calls at some other location is indeed difficult, rude and gives the impression that helping patients in a friendly, professional and caring manner is something to be avoided at all costs. That behavior must be above their pay grade. But their attitude and behavior should not deter anyone from taking advantage of the great service offered by Dr Murphy. Best doctor ever! He helped me with my sinus infection and helped so much! Thanks doctor Murphy!!!

It would be no stars if I had my choose. When the front desk is rude and much to dictating even before they ask when you want any appointment, I can find someone else to handle my care.

I've had nothing but good experiences with Dr. Murphy and the Diablo ENT staff. Extremely competent, personable and able to explain things clearly.

I think Dr. Murphy is just the best ENT in the bay area. Dr. Murphy is always so professional and thorough with his exams with me. I am so happy that I have found him. Dr. Murphy also treated my grandson with a tonsil and adenoid issue. Great results. A very sensible doctor. I recommend him highly.

While the office visit itself was pleasant enough, I feel like I got sold a bill of goods from a snake oil salesman. I was referred to Dr Murphy's office through my primary care physician for tinnitus. I have insurance so I happily went along with the ruse. After spending 10 or so minutes in the booth for a hearing test and 2-3 minutes with the doctor, who held a tuning fork at various places out of sight to determine if I could tell where the sound was coming from...I was presented with a bill for around $750. And guess what!?...there's nothing that can be done for it. Waste of time and money. To add to my grief...Costco offers the booth test for $0. That's right...gratis! At the end of the appointment, I can certainly understand why the doctor asked me to come back yearly to test my hearing...at $1500/hr...you can make quite a living for yourself!! I sat and waited for him about an hour and he never showed up. My appointment was 12:30 he showed up 1:30. He came in with an attitude telling me that he had an emergency. When I was walked into the room I saw him sitting in his office so I did not understand what kind of emergency he was talking. He didn't review my chart and he was rude and intimidating. I felt as if he was about to attack me. He then told me that it was best for me to leave. I reported him to Standford Hospital.
