Dr. Michael Miao

I don't understand why Miao has so many positive reviews. I was under his care for months and had a knee surgery with him. He's not very nice (which I was told by the people who referred me to him) which I didn't mind but his post-operative care was terrible. The worst I've ever had having 3 other surgeries in my adult lifetime. His assistant Rihanna is terrible too. I was definitely treated like a number with no actual feelings from him or Rihanna. My knee is worse off after the surgery and they act like the post-care is a nuisance. Don't believe all the good reviews. I was told he used to be great but he probably has too much involvement with treating the sport teams now and not much for regular patients.

Very impressed with the check in staff. And all medical personnel. My 1st appointment here went so smoothly. Everyone was very kind and efficient.

Dr. Miao is very thorough and explains in detail what the problem is and how to help choose the best solution. The nurse are kind.

i am a 92 year old man with serious shoulder problems. i only live in las vegas inthe winter. i live in nc in the summer and holidays. In december i went to a physical therapst in nc to try to rehab my shoulder. This caused a very traumatic painful experience and i had to go to two emergency rooms to finally get relief which consisted of draining the bloody fluid out of my shoulder joint. Since i was planning to be in vegas for several months, I wanted to try physical therapy and if it again caused the same problem that i could find timely treatment for the pain. when i asked if this treatment was available at your practice he became hostile and quite rude and i received no comfort from his answers. dr. miao was highly reccomended by a friend of mine here in vegas. also he is an imminently renowned sports doctor. i realise now that i was apparently too old for your practice which i assume mostly treats young atheletes. in view of all this i want to apolllze to dr. maio for taking up his valuable time and causing him such irritation and i promise that i will not bother him again. Evidently mu expectations were unreaistic for your practice.

This was my first appointment with Dr. Miao. His staff was very efficient, pleasant and informative. Once I met Dr. Miao I understood, he set the president. He too was very pleasant to deal with, and informative, explaining my options. He also has a great sense of humor and he is an active listener. Dr Miao and his Staff was very friendly, polite, and professional. Wait time was short and I like XRay & MRI done in Office so he could give me my options and begin treatment for pain from Arthritic Knees immediately. Dr Miao is very knowledgeable and made me feel confident with the Diagnostic Plan. I plan to continue with Physical Therapy and look forward to my follow up visit. Hopefully, with good progress after my Steroid injection today. Thank you Dr Miao and Staff for a very informative session.

Call Dr. Miao in Desert orthopedics may have incredible credentials. The entire operation is not patient friendly. It is impossible to contact someone by telephone because for months now they have been putting in a new system. This is Las Vegas people we can have a new telephone system put in in a matter of hours if not … But they use this as a buffer. To me it’s a convenient excuse. we had to drive 40 minutes across town to reach the furthest office from where I live and the pain is excruciating my follow up with supposed to be with Dr. meow and then I got an email saying it was with his PA. Needless to say, I am having my follow up with an orthopedic doctor on the west side of town, whom I am very familiar with. Access and follow up appointment with him was established with a simple phone call.

This Dr. Miao is definitely not the kind of physician you want your elderly parents to go to. During the brief exam, he based his conclusions exclusively on x-rays. On front of my mother, he said she had to “toughen it out” and to force her arm/shoulder to work. I was startled by the disrespect and inconsideration he showed her during the exam. I kept my cool. I was not convinced seeing how my mother reacted to the constant excruciating pain. I asked the doctor if he recommended an MRI/CT scan to confirm. He looked at me and blatantly ignored what I had said. Informed my mother’s PCP who was not pleased of Dr. Miao’s behavior. An MRI was done, and the results - rotator cuff tear. And, that, folks, is enough to tell me what Dr. Miao is truly all about. Sounds like he got beat up by his girlfriend in grade school. You get the point.

Desert Orthopedics did a great job after my initial visit. Once they saw my initial injury diagnosis from urgent care may include additional problems, the staff were fast and attentive in getting me scheduled back in quickly. Dr. Miao was thorough and listened carefully with patience as to how my injury had occurred. As a result, he was able to further identify and diagnose my situation and provide me with additional support for my injury where other doctors had failed. Dr Miao was amazing and efficient. He quickly assessed the issue with my knee, drained a ton of fluid, and gave me the corticosteroid shot to get me walking again within hours. Everyone from the receptionist to Dr. Miao were incredibly polite and inviting. Dr. Mario took the time to go over every detail of my visit and the procedure he would preform in great detail. He had his assistant, Tiffany come in to go over the process I will be facing making me feel at ease . She and Dr. Miao are absolutely AMAZING!!!

I had arthroscopic surgery on my left knee over a year ago and over the course of the following year I continued to have issues with my knee. I was never seen by Dr. Miao even after the surgery but by the NP. I didn't see him until the 3 month visit. Durning the course of the next year when I had issues I was given appointments with the PA and given a cortisone shot despite the fact that my knee was still in fairly bad pain. It was never examined by the doctor and all they told me at every visit was to go to physical therapy. That was the answer to ever visit. During this last visit I was told they couldn't give a cortisone shot because it was too soon (by 2 weeks) but would put in a referral for a gel injection. Two weeks later no referral has been put in. Dr. Miao is not a physician that takes a genuine interest in his patients so its time to move on to a different facility.

it is a massive clinic with both inhouse Xray and MRI. I was so happy with all the staff, everyone listened and was engaged with my needs and care. Dr Miao was especially kind and listened to what I was saying.

Dr. Miao is amazing and has great bedside manner. I never felt like he was talking over my head and he was very patient and understanding. I gave 4 stars because I had difficulties straightening out my insurance with the office. They said they didn't take my insurance but after a few phone calls we discovered they did. Took me 2 tries to see him.

I have been a patient of Dr Miao since 2014. He has treated both knees & my shoulder with great outcomes. He listens patiently & offers options for treatment as applicable. Based on my personal experience with him, I consider him to be an outstanding specialist.

I have to say when I went in and seen how crowded it was I thought I was going to be there All day...Lol But no sooner than I went in I was called the Nurses and Doctors are very nice and helpful as well they made me feel comfortable and in good hands...????????

I was able to get appointment the day after I called. Office very nice as well as the staff is very friendly. Not crowded and no wait time. Dr. Miao provided excellent care and treatment. I look forward to my follow up visit with him.

Went to get evaluated for pain and cramping of my left leg. Office procedure was excellent. I could register on line ahead of visit which saved lots of time. Staff were all professional and friendly. Actual process was well thought out. X-rays first, then PA then Dr. Miao. Both the PA and Dr. Miao gave me a thorough exam, explained what my problem was and discussed physical therapy as a solution. They made a followup appt. to assess my progress. Dr. Miao explained my X-rays and gave me his best advice. I strongly recommend Dr. Miao and the staff at the W Warm Springs office.

Very thorough. Explains the steps so you can understand gives you options very nice dr. Great communication returns your calls, I would highly recommend him 100%

Wasnt impressed. He couldnt figure out what's wrong with ny knee. Wasted time and money for MRI's and X-rays and still he couldnt figurr it out. Im in chronic pain and honestly dont even want to sleep at night because of this pain.

I've been a patient of Dr. Miao for several years having seen him for various ankle and knee injuries associated with my past military career in Airborne (parachute) qualified military units. In addition to being a highly educated and qualified physician, Dr. Miao is also a good guy, professional, easy to talk to, and with a very comfortable and relaxed personality... He's very willing to explain his diagnosis, his recommended treatment, and answer any questions you might have pertaining to them. As long as I have the choice, I personally will not even consider seeing another local orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in Dr. Miao's area of practice... and I give him my very highest recommendation.

Very through examination. Very detailed explanation of the X-rays. A plan laid out to continue to resolve the issue. Staff very friendly and helpful.

My experience at the center was very pleasant. Everyone was nice. Appointment was on time. Dr. Mio answered all my questions. The office was well appointed and impeccably clean. I will be happy to be receiving my care there.

Dr. Miao and the whole staff were so helpful kind and all about staying on time. I was in and out in less than an hour which included time for an xray. I didnt do my paperwork ahead of time so the woman at reception (didn't get her name, dangit) sat me down took my info via computer and i got in right on time. Dr. Miao was very professional and kind. He did a thorough assessment and also showed me and explained my xrays and mri in terms i could understand. This was my first time here and it was a wonderful experience. The staff was courteous, friendly, and compassionate. Dr Miao is very knowledgeable and was able to take care of my issue expeditiously. I would recommend him to anyone suffering from any orthopedic issues.

The employees at the reception desk were very friendly and got people checked in very quickly. The wait in the examine room for Dr Miao was very short. Dr Miao is simply the best. I’ve had surgeries and multiple issues for years dating back to a college athlete and few, if any doctors, have been as amazing as he is—don’t go to anyone else.

Visited with Dr. Miao to determine if the rotator cuff that I had repaired in 2007 by another surgeon had re-torn. His exam was very thorough and he answered all of my concerns very professionally.

Dr. Miao is a consummate professional who articulates his findings in a manner the patient understands. Because he is punctual, your time is respected! Plus, he devotes the necessary amount of time with you in order for all of your questions to be answered. In addition, his staff is very professional. He is the best!

Horrible experience. I had an appointment but the doctor didn’t even come close to keeping it. I waited in the lobby for 2 hours and 15 minutes, then was taken to a room and waited more. I got less than 15 minutes of the doctor’s time. He was very obviously in a huge hurry and wanted to finish with me and move on as quickly as possible. I left with questions unanswered. Staff was rude to me, dismissed and ignored my call questions, said to me “Let’s get this over with” and cursed. I will not be back to this practice. My experience here is exactly why so many people absolutely hate and dread going to the doctor.

obviously during covid the wait time was maybe 15 minutes in the waiting room and 20 minutes in the examination room. Dr. Miao was very pleasant offered sound advice and recommendations. I did not have any issues with anything.

I was recommended to Dr Miao by my Physical Therapist . I am so happy with him . He examined my shoulder and the scans and drew me a picture of what needed to be done. I'm hoping to have surgery in the next few weeks. He is a very kind and caring doctor. I'm lucky to be his patient.

Dr. Miao saw me for a tennis knee injury. I had surgery and the care was excellent. The physical therapist saw me the day after the surgery and he said "excellent, very clean surgery, no bleeding and minimal swelling." Needless to say, he was very impressed. My knee is less painful than before the surgery, which says a lot. Dr. Miao and his team exceeded my expectations.

Dr. Miao did a great job, but didn’t give me a clear evaluation why I had these symptoms. It seem if he was worried about satisfying Worker Comp instead of getting me well.

Overall I had a good experience . Everyone was professional and pleasant including, of course, Dr. Miao. I was surprised, however, that the doctor told me to give up my crutches and it resulted in a setback in my healing process as I feel I reinjured my knee due to that advice. I have my MRI today so I will see .
