My brother received excellent care by Dr. Maxwell. Even after his triple bypass. Went above and beyond. He was his angel and thankyou very much.

I really think Dr. Maxwell had good intentions for me and he made an effort. However, he was my surgeon for a tracheostomy and it did not go well. I'm not sure if it's just not a surgery he does often, but there were many complications that could have been avoided.

A good surgeon. But don't expect return phone calls or good follow up after surgery. Office staff seems nice but never returns urgent calls. Check your call logs for Friday and Monday. Dr Maxwell is only available on Tuesday & Thursdays to see in office patients. He didn’t show up for my appointment on Tuesday so I had to reschedule a week later. Dr. Maxwell appears rushed and is very snippy, condescending, and doesn’t make his plan of diagnosis clear. He seems to be reluctant to diagnose my issue and eventually sent me away!!! I’m sure Dr. Maxwell is a good doctor but his personality his horrible and no bedside manner. I was afraid to ask any questions because of his condescending, unclear responses. I cannot say enough good things about dr maxwell. He took excellent care of me in the hospital. He did 2 very serious surgeries on me and after both he came to my hospital room everyday. I looked forward to see him, he was always straight forward and spoke to me about my health in terms I could understand. He took his time to make sure I understand or had any more questions. That was 10 months ago. I am still recovering and I still see dr Maxwell every 3 months. Most recently I had some breathing issues and he called me within 10 min after leaving his answering service a message! This was on a Saturday. He relieves alot of my anxiety just by talking to him. This is a difficult review. I'm very disappointed in the practices of this surgeon. We worked "with" him for 2.5 months while my dad was in his "care". This man needs to practice listening to the patient and the family of the patient. He does not. We experienced a small amount of compassion from him as he was telling us that there was about a 90% chance that our dad would not make it through the night. And he was correct... he passed away at 1 am ... just a couple of hours later. Aside from that he was very indifferent and he never returned our phone calls. One moment he would tell us that ultimately the decision to do the procedure was up to us, then he cancelled it without informing us. He cancelled because of the input from a neurologist that saw my dad for about 30 min. (again ... 2.5 months in the hospital total) We were aware and fully informed of the risks and wanted to move forward with the pleurodesis before he became any more weak from lack of activity. He postponed the procedure for 4 weeks. Those 4 weeks my dad sat in the hospital with no answers, growing more frustrated and depressed. The night my dad passed, all vital organs failing, Dr Maxwell said to us "I don't understand what happened, 30 days ago his heart was strong and his vitals were good, now everything is failing." I hear those words over and over in my head. If he had done the procedure the month prior... MAYBE we would still have our dad. There is no way of knowing now. I do not recommend this man as your surgeon if you want someone that will listen to you and communicate well with you and your family. Communication is so important. And a little compassion can go a long way. On a side note... He has one lady working for him in scheduling, she was an angel. She always answered the phone and would try to get answers for us.
