I’ve been taking my son to Dr. Michael for a little over 3 years. Dr. Michael and his entire staff are friendly, helpful and always go out of their way to make the children (and parents) feel comfortable and happy. From warm welcome at the check in, to the hygienists, they’re all exceptional. We had a small issue with something, and Dr. Micheal phoned us to discuss and everything was handled so well. We have been going to Dr. Mike for quite some time now at his garden city location for all of our children. However, our insurance recently changed and we called the office to find out if they accept the new plan. They promptly told us that the Smithtown location does in fact take our new plan. We gave all of our information and booked an appointment a month out. Today was the day of our appointment I left my 3 month old baby at home, took a day off of work, and took my other two kids out of school to make it 45 minutes away to our 11am appointment. As soon as we got there the brunette at the receptionist desk with the curly hair was barking at us that our plan is NOT active. Her tone was very condescending adn she made us feel as though we would not be seen because we have no insurance and/or we would not even pay out of pocket. Keep, in mind I am the employer (also a doctor) and I know for a fact that we are active. They handed us a member eligibility rejection form and told us to call the plan. Now, 30 minutes in we were not handed any forms, we called the insurance to verify that we are in fact active! The insurance plan verified that Dr. Mike is OUT OF NETWORK. There is a huge difference between having coverage and being out of network! The brunette continued to argue with us. So I told them I would have no problem paying cash. They said ok wait another 45minutes! They finally handed us a patient form since we agreed to pay out of pocket, and they had no way to pull our information from the Garden City location? We had to wait all this time to even get an update form? Did you guys assume we wouldn't pay? In the meantime people with appointments after us are continuously being seen while we wait outside. Also, keep in mind they had our wrong telephone number! When we originally booked the appointment they never called us back if in fact eligibility was an issue. You mean to tell me that you couldn't properly check a month back? You couldn't call your other location? At this point we were not OK with waiting another 45 mins. We pleaded why we had to wait longer? Once again, we have been coming to Dr. Mike for years now and spent thousands even out of pocket to get the best care we could for our kids. These people and this facility had no regards. At this point we walked out to drive home, we didn't wait the extra 45 minutes on top of the 40 mins we were already there. As we drove off they called us and said Dr. Mike was willing to see us right away. Little too late… If you're looking for a pediatric dentist for your little ones, please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. If they could treat their loyal patients who have paid so much money over the years, sometimes even out of pocket, imagine how they would treat a new patient? Dr. Mike, I understand this isn't your private office and you work under a group practice... but try to train your staff to treat others as human beings. Dr. Mike and his staff are excellent! My daughter needed extensive dental work and another dentist wanted put her to sleep to do it. Dr. Mike reassured us that we didn't need to take that risk and treated our daughter painlessly and with TLC. She did not experience any discomfort and is excited to return for her next appointment.

Dr Mike is great and his staff, wonderful. Our first appt was scheduled on a day that I was told was “unusually busy.” I hope so bc the wait was VERY long, there were not enough seats in the waiting room, and naturally, the kids were not responding well to the wait or the chaos. I hope they take that into consideration next time and choose not to over-schedule patients- Not fair to the parents or the children they serve. We will give them the benefit of the doubt and give them another try but if there is no change we will not be returning. Dr Mike is great and his staff, wonderful. Dr. Mike is terrific with the kids! He is extremely professional and knowledgeable in his field of children’s dentistry. He has a very warm/comforting office as well. Highly recommended!!

Dr. Mike is great. Very compassionate and gentle with his treatment of my kids. It’s a busy office which is a good sign that a lot of people are trusting their kids care to him and his team. The hygienist who does the teeth cleanings is awesome as well. Don’t hesitate to make an appointment with Dr. Mike!
