Looks for zebras in chronically symptomatic patients as an ER doctor. ER physicians are there to assess critical symptoms, order necessary testing/imaging, and plan of care. Orders excessive testing and imaging when it is not needed. Such as pregnancy test when patient is post hysterectomy. He assesses very thoroughly however many questions are repeated and are not always necessary for the reason for care/symptoms. This creates inefficiency. Communication lacking between what he tells the patient, nurses, and confuses his own plan where it necessitates multiple encounters with the patient. Opportunity to improve the clarity of the plan with the nurse and patient can help to decrease confusion and allow for a more expedited visit for the patient in a busy rural ER
